GOLDSTEIN: When it comes to Jew hatred, the Liberals are paralyzed

Today, a simple question for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Does he agree with his anti-Islamophobia adviser, Amira Elghawaby, that the only problem with what we’ll laughably call a “pro-Palestinian” demonstration in Ottawa last weekend was that, as she put it on ‘X’, “a few individual protesters engaged in problematic speech?”

Canada refused to repatriate woman from ISIS camp because she can’t be arrested: internal memo

ISIS terrorist suspect is 3rd from left.

The last Canadian woman trying to return home from a detention camp in Syria for captured ISIS members is a national security risk because police lack evidence to arrest her, according to internal documents.

A Public Safety Canada memo obtained by Global News said the RCMP was unable to either charge the Montreal woman, referred to only by the initials F.J., or restrict her movements with a peace bond.

Islamophobia czar Amira Elghawaby is unfit for office

An ugly scene unfolded on Saturday, as dozens of anti-Israel demonstrators clogged the streets of downtown Ottawa, shouting genocidal slogans like “long live Oct. 7” and “from the river to the sea.”

The open intolerance on display in our nation’s capital played into a broader trend on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border: protesters across the continent are increasingly dropping any pretense of civility and behaving in an overtly hateful manner. This is a trend that has no doubt been abetted by leaders who have overlooked, or downplayed, the growing hatred.

Naomi Klein calls for ‘Exodus from Zionism’

Renowned Canadian Jewish author and columnist Naomi Klein called for an “exodus from Zionism,” denouncing the ideology as a “false idol” that has strayed from the core values of Judaism, in an op-ed for The Guardian.

In her piece, Klein used biblical allegory to draw attention to the recent conflict between Israel and Gaza, condemning Zionism for turning the “transcendent idea of the promised land” into a “deed of sale for a militaristic ethnostate.”

Klein’s piece directly challenged the traditional view of Zionism as a movement for Jewish liberation, instead portraying it as an ideology that has justified oppression, colonialism, and violence in the name of Jewish safety.

The Israel-Hamas conflict is now as much an intramural affair as religious war.

Michael Oren: FBI must investigate money trail behind campus antisemitic protests

… This shift has notably affected disciplines like American Studies, which have become distinctly anti-American, Oren continued. He also pointed out that even some Jewish academics have joined the anti-Israel chorus, failing to recognize the potential negative consequences for themselves. “They fail to see that this path also ends badly for them.”

Reflecting on Passover, Oren cited the Haggadah’s story of the Wicked Son, which he believes mirrors the stance of those who don’t identify with their own people and criticize Israel’s defenders. “It’s the best image for these people who keep saying that if you defend Israel, you’re a bad Jew. Eventually, they’ll become one of the bad Jews themselves. This movement is a deep-seated cultural trend that has taken decades to evolve, and undoing it may also take decades,” said Oren.

Oh Brother … Star wets itself because Poilievre met with folks who hate Trudeau

Pierre Poilievre is courting support from groups that spew hate. Is this really the alternative to Justin Trudeau we want?

Perhaps Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre was feeling too comfortable.

After all, his party is ahead of the Liberals by 20 points in public opinion polls. The poll aggregator 338Canada.com has the Conservatives winning a 207-seat majority in the House of Commons, if an election were held today — a Brian Mulroney-sized landslide, and that’s without the Bloc Québécois’ seats.

The Conservatives, according to Abacus Data, lead across all age brackets, education brackets, even gender lines.

Trudeau’s media is getting desperate. At this stage outside of Toronto and Ottawa you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who likes Junior.

The Diagalonians should sue the Star.

RCMP documents contradict mainstream media claims Diagalon is a ‘far-right threat’

Internal RCMP documents reveal law enforcement concluded controversial Diagolon does “not pose a criminal or national security threat,” contrary to the Public Safety Minister’s remarks.

After the Inquiry, Will Anyone Take Responsibility for Allowing Foreign Interference in Elections?

Who will fall on his sword after the public inquiry into election interference?

Probably everyone has heard of the Japanese samurai practice of “harakiri,” also called seppuku, or “falling on one’s sword.” This action, which apparently dates back to Roman times, refers to a ritual suicide by a soldier for something done wrong. The phrase is now used to describe anyone, most notably a high-level government official, who resigns after having taken responsibility for a mistake.

No one.

Guilbeault defends ‘partnership’ with Chinese Communist Party environment council

Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault has defended his “partnership” with the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) environmental board.

In August 2023, the federal Conservative Party demanded Guilbeault cut ties with the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), which is chaired by Ding Xuexiang, the former chief of staff to President Xi Jinping.

In Trudeau’s Canada people are more likely to eat food past its best-before date.

Grocery price inflation may finally be slowing across Canada, but as some food costs remain high, a new report has found many are open to consuming “risky foods” despite the potential health risks.

The report, set to be released Thursday by Dalhousie University’s Agri-Food Analytics Lab but provided to Global News in advance, found 58 per cent of respondents said higher prices made them more inclined to eat food close to or past its best-before date. About 37 per cent said their consumption habits haven’t changed.

Just bought a used car? There’s a chance it’s stolen, as thieves exploit weakness in vehicle registrations

The fight against Canada’s worst-ever auto theft epidemic has largely focused on ramping up inspections at shipping ports, where organized crime groups have exported the overwhelming majority of stolen vehicles.

But criminals are adapting, police say, by increasingly selling hot vehicles in Canada to unsuspecting buyers with little protection, exploiting a weakness in provincial registration systems that veteran investigators argue needs to be fixed.

“The market is so lucrative it’s easy cash,” said Det. Sgt. Greg O’Connor of Peel Regional Police, west of Toronto.

Islamophobia provoker’s wild claim that anti-Israel extremism is a “few individual protesters”

In a lengthy social media post, Elghawaby referred to the chant as “a few individual protesters engaged in problematic speech” — and said that it was “patently false and harmful” to insinuate that the chant was representative of the protest as a whole. Most protesters, she said, were peacefully trying to stop the “decimation of an entire population in Gaza.”

Tasha Kheiriddin: Anti-Israel hate marches holding the rest of us hostage while Trudeau shrugs

Canada used to be a nation of peace, order, and good government. Not anymore. You’d be hard pressed to find any of the three on the streets of Ottawa last weekend, at a Palestinian protest which glorified Hamas and its violent assault on Oct. 7.

“Our resistance attacks are proof that we are almost free,” one marcher said, to the cheers of the crowd. “Oct. 7 is proof that we are almost free. Long live Oct. 7, long live the resistance, long live the intefadeh, long live every form of resistance.”

Danielle Smith launches what could be her biggest broadside yet at Ottawa

Danielle Smith has long promised to be the most combative of Premiers. She has lived up to those words, perhaps especially so in legislation introduced this month, the Provincial Priorities Act (Bill 18), which would allow her government to say a pre-emptive yea or nay to every funding deal Ottawa makes in Alberta.

There is a long list of downsides for the academics and cities caught in the crossfire. But given the angry national mood – including frustration with the federal Liberal government’s reach into realms that are mostly provincial, such as housing, electricity, dentistry or school lunch programs, for all the good and the bad – the bill could be a win for Ms. Smith and her unabashed main cause: autonomy from Ottawa.

Support for Chinese Regime Required to Access Canadian-Funded Scholar Exchange Program in Canada

Chinese candidates applying for a Canadian taxpayer-funded exchange program need to declare allegiance to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) leadership and the Party’s “socialist system,” The Epoch Times has learned.

The link to the Chinese governmental agency’s website specifying these requirements for the current academic year is prominently featured on the website of the Canadian agency in charge of promoting the program, as of this writing. The Canadian government issued a notice about this year’s program earlier this month.
