CHARLEBOIS: Heard of price fixing? Say hello to discount fixing

With rising food prices, consumers seeking deals can benefit from food rescuing.

According to a recent survey conducted by Dalhousie University’s Agri-Food Analytics Lab, nearly 20% of consumers now regularly purchase “last day of sale” deals at grocery stores, often referred to more broadly as “enjoy tonight” deals. Some of these discounts can be significant.

Liberal, NDP MPs to travel to West Bank to connect with Palestinians

Five Canadian MPs are set to begin a week-long visit to Jordan and the West Bank today to meet with Palestinian refugees and progressive Israeli groups.

Trudeau’s tenure a passport to embarrassment

“We’re Number 31! We’re Number 31!”

Not sure what shape of foam finger one gets for a 31st-place ranking, but that’s what Canadians who want to celebrate international recognition of our passport are going to have to find.

According to the respected international recruitment and relocation consultancy Henley & Partners, Canada’s passport is only the 31st most respected passport in the world.

OTTAWA — Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly and her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi say they want to find common ground and maintain communication, despite tensions across the Pacific.

But a senior analyst says Beijing’s preferred path to better relations might be impossible for Canadians to follow.

4 arrests made at Avenue Road bridge demonstrations

Toronto police say they have arrested four people and removed them from the Avenue Road bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Police posted on X just before 4:00 p.m. that the arrests had been made due to Toronto Police Chief Myron Demkiw announcing a ban on demonstrations and congregations at the bridge, which has been shut down to pedestrian and motor traffic on at least three previous occasions.

Short and sweet.

High Drama!

Meanwhile a less than Joly time …

Ottawa’s inaction is fraying the consensus on immigration

It’s a stunning, yet entirely predictable, turnaround in public opinion.

Less than a year ago, polling by Nanos Research showed 61 per cent of Canadians thought that immigration levels should either be increased or stay the same, in keeping with a decades-old consensus that welcomes newcomers to this country.

Public opinion has inverted, according to Nanos. In December, 61 per cent of Canadians said immigration levels should be reduced, with just 34 per cent still believing that Canada should maintain or increase the number of newcomers.

I think the alleged concensus around immigration was fraying far earlier especially among urban dwellers.

The myth was propped up by the fact that until recently merely raising the topic of immigration policy was to risk being labeled a racist by the political and chattering classes.

This was done at the behest of the corporate class who to this day dictate Canada’s immigration policy to the detriment of everyone save themselves and their political minions.

The stopper on immigration discussion was only removed in the past year as the ruling class no doubt sensed an imminent explosion.

It’s a start that ideally will result in the will of citizens being made paramount in designing immigration policy.

Our politicians have proven they cannot be trusted to act in our best interests.

One aspect of mass immigration the MSM refuses to address is the impact on society caused by the introduction of incompatible cultures.

Our MSM won’t touch Islam’s clash with western culture despite vast numbers of marauding Hamas supporters in the streets of every major western city.

Despite decades of living under the constant threat of Islamist terrorism and the encroachment of sharia law in society.

Islam’s harmful presence has been an exercise in the tolerance of the intolerant made possible by the elite’s embrace of racist doctrines such as DEI and CRT and the dissent crushing cancel culture bludgeons of official multiculturalism and diversity.

Not all cultures are equal and that is indisputable.

No wave of immigration has cost societies across the west more than Islam.

The dollars spent on domestic policing to keep the Hamas mobs in check is likely already in the millions in Canada alone.

The kowtowing of our political class to ethnic strongmen is a shameless insult to Canada and emboldens groups to import their pet hatreds and battle it out in our streets.

But no longer.

The sacred cows too long off limits in the polite society of our (Often government subsidized) betters are being slaughtered one by one.

Pity the MSM and our mainstream political parties remain behind the curve.

‘Why did you give me a visa?’ Iranian official takes umbrage with deportation from Canada

Don’t believe a thing this lying punk says.

One of the first Iranian government officials to face deportation from Canada as a result of recent sanctions says he’ll be only too happy to leave this country.

He just needs his passport back.

Majid Iranmanesh has been deemed inadmissible by Canada Border Services Agency under sanctions imposed by the Canadian government in November 2022, designating Iran as a regime that engages and has engaged in terrorism, systematic and gross human rights violations.

Why? Because Canada is a corrupt 3rd World kleptocracy thanks to the Trudeau government.

Crown wants 28-year sentence for Cameron Ortis, ex-RCMP intelligence official guilty of leaking secrets

Arguing it’s a fitting punishment for someone who betrayed his country, the Crown today called for Cameron Ortis — the former RCMP intelligence official found guilty late last year of leaking secret information to police targets — to be sentenced to nearly 30 years behind bars.

Crown prosecutor Judy Kliewer told an Ottawa courtroom Thursday morning that two consecutive sentences totalling 28 years in prison is “not only an appropriate but a necessary sentence.”

“His conduct betrayed the RCMP. It betrayed the Five Eyes,” she said, referring to Canada’s international intelligence partners.

Toronto police chief reverses course, identifies ‘terrorist flag’ waved at demonstration

A day after refusing to identify the “terrorist flag” held at a demonstration last weekend that led to charges being laid against a man for public incitement of hatred, Toronto’s police chief said the flag belongs to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

On its website, Public Safety Canada lists both the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine — General Command (PFLP-GC) as “terrorist entities.”

I’m not buying this as anything other than a “Happy now? Then shut up and go away” gesture.

Coupled with the magical discovery of laws allowing a ban on Avenue Rd. protests after the meeting between Trudeau and the Chief the Liberals must hope it all just goes away.

But it won’t after this … let’s see how Hamas reacts.

Surprise … Canada doesn’t support premise of South Africa’s case against Israel
