Parliament’s Nazi scandal a ‘top headline story’ for Russian propaganda news

OTTAWA — On Tuesday, a Russian embassy account posted online that Ukraine was issuing stamps with the face of Yaroslav Hunka, who received a standing ovation in the House of Commons before it was revealed he served in a Nazi unit during the Second World War.

The “completely false” post from Russia’s U.K. embassy uses a fabricated stamp and is an example of how Russia is already using the incident for its own purposes, said Marcus Kolga, senior fellow at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute.

Why Did Trudeau Dawdle on Chinese Election Meddling?

After months of resisting the idea, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced a major public inquiry tasked with investigating how China has meddled in Canadian politics.

The reversal, amid miserable domestic polling numbers and intense pressure from the opposition parties and media, comes after more than a year of revelations about Beijing’s efforts to interfere in Canada—largely to the advantage of Trudeau’s Liberal Party.

National Muslim Group Asks Trudeau to Apologize for ‘Inflammatory’ Comment on Parents’ Rights Protest

A pan-Canadian Muslim group is asking Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and others to retract and apologize for their comments made with respect to the March for Children on Sept. 20, saying they used their influence to “unjustly demonize families” and “alienate countless students.”

The Muslim Association of Canada issued a statement on the platform X on Sept. 25, saying it “strongly condemns remarks on recent protests made by certain politicians, including our Prime Minister, as well as statements from school boards, unions, and reports from some media outlets.”

This is hilarious. The Muslim Brotherhood is demanding Trudeau apologize. I wonder if Junior’s Islamophobia Tsar will demand he resign.

Is the idea of Khalistan, a Sikh homeland, still alive?

India and Canada have engaged in tit-for-tat diplomatic expulsions as part of an intensifying row over the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Sikh separatist, on Canadian soil.

The 45-year-old came to Canada as a refugee decades ago and had since became a Canadian citizen. He was an ardent advocate of establishing a sovereign state of Khalistan, a Sikh homeland in India’s Punjab region.

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claims that Indian agents were involved in the murder of Nijjar. India dismissed the allegations as “absurd.” However, Indian officials view Nijjar as a terrorist, a member of the banned Khalistan Commando Force, whom India links to targeted killings of various political and religious figures.

It is in Canada thanks to Justin and Jagmeet.

Carson Jerema: Rota resigns so Trudeau can pretend Nazi scandal isn’t his problem

Canada is being mocked around the world after a man who fought for the Nazis was celebrated in Parliament, presumably by mistake. But on Monday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s chief concern was to ensure everyone that it wasn’t his fault. “The Speaker has acknowledged his mistake and apologized,” he said, repeating the talking point given to every Liberal with a pulse.

Pro-Khalistan, anti-India rally attracts protesters and police in downtown Vancouver

Ottawa Protest.

About 75 people rallied outside the Consul General of India in downtown Vancouver Monday to protest the reported involvement of the Indian government in killing Canadian citizen and Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Nijjar was a leader in the fight for the creation of a Sikh state in India called Khalistan. He was gunned down three months ago outside of Surrey’s Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, where he was president. The 45-year-old was proclaimed a terrorist by India in 2020.

Has Trudeau allowed Khalistani extremism to flourish in Canada?

“… For Trudeau, it didn’t seem to matter that Nijjar stood accused of a long history of involvement in violence against India, and was suspected of masterminding bombings in the Sikh majority Indian state of Punjab and training terrorists in British Columbia. In 2022, India accused Nijjar of being involved in an attack on a Hindu priest in Punjab and announced a reward of around £10,000 for information that would lead to his arrest. Nijjar entered Canada on a fake passport in 1997. Despite this, he was able to gain Canadian citizenship.”

Poland’s education minister says he’s ‘taken steps’ to extradite Yaroslav Hunka

Poland’s education minister says he has “taken steps” to effect the extradition of Yaroslav Hunka, a 98-year-old Ukrainian Canadian, to Poland after it emerged that the veteran served in the Nazi SS Galizien formation during the Second World War.

On Friday, Hunka was invited to sit in the parliamentary gallery by Speaker Anthony Rota for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s address to Parliament. Rota introduced Hunka as a “Ukrainian hero” and a “Canadian hero,” prompting a standing ovation in the House of Commons.

Over the weekend, it emerged that Hunka was part of the First Ukrainian Division, also known as the Waffen-SS Galicia Division or the SS 14th Waffen Division, a voluntary unit that was under the command of the Nazis.

Muslim Canadians express anger, concern after killing of Sikh leader

Muslim advocates in Canada have expressed anger and concern at allegations that India may have been involved in the killing of a Canadian Sikh leader, stressing that Muslim and Sikh Canadians have long supported each other.

Last week, a diplomatic dispute escalated between Ottawa and New Delhi after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said his government was investigating “credible allegations of a potential link” between Indian government agents and the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Justin’s greatest accomplishment has Canada divided into warring sectarian factions. Muslim, Hindu, Sikh – Leicester here we come.

CHARLEBOIS: Grocery chains, federal Liberals sizing up ‘shrinkflation’

Two issues have been particularly vexing for Canadian shoppers at the grocery store: Volume discounts, especially for seniors and those who live alone, and the phenomenon known as “shrinkflation.”

Over the last 12 months, shrinkflation has garnered significant attention due to substantial price hikes in grocery stores. Fortunately, some grocers are now taking action.

A typical bag of chips is about 80% air nowadays.
