Arctic power play: High north and high stakes

On a cloudy day in September, Commander Nicole Robichaud looked ahead to the deep, blue water of the Arctic Ocean from the bridge of a brand new ship. Whitecaps and floating sea ice dotted the horizon.

The sixty-five crew members and sailors with the Royal Canadian Navy, were on board HMCS Margaret Brooke, one of six new icebreaker ships in Canada’s Arctic fleet. They travelled through some of the earth’s most unforgiving waters at the northernmost edge of North America.

The stark effects of the climate crisis and changing geopolitical landscape have created new threats in the Arctic. As the sea ice melts, previously impassable routes through the region and access to long-hidden natural resources are opening up.

More Documented Cases of COVID Vaccine Injuries in Canadian Military Than COVID Hospitalizations

Figures provided by the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) to The Epoch Times show that the military has registered 324 adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccination, with 23 deemed serious. The total number of hospitalizations in the forces due to COVID-19 itself is 16.

According to CAF, a total of 192,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to military members, with 324 cases of reported “adverse events following immunization” (AEFI).

We should know which politicians got China’s money

Can we take a break from lecturing Americans about the state of their democracy and focus for a bit on problems with our own?

Canadians love to watch from a safe distance when all the horrors and glories of the American political system are on display, as they are this week as we comb through the results of their midterm elections.

We especially love to pat ourselves on the back for the fact that our system is, for the most part, mercifully free of the most extreme elements of U.S. politics. That’s mostly just good for our national self-regard, but it would be a shame if it distracts us from the disturbing possibility that a foreign power has been actively interfering in our own recent national elections, even changing the outcome in at least one case.

From the Star no less.

Slightly more than half of Ontarians currently support a return to a provincial mask mandate, with nearly three-quarters saying they would follow masking requirements should the government bring them back, a new public opinion survey by Forum Research suggests.

The poll, conducted for the Star, found 77 per cent of respondents said they either already wear masks or that they are prepared to wear them again.

Sabrina Maddeaux: Pierre Poilievre’s crusade against the ‘money printing orgy’

In person, federal Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is relaxed and even cheery. But get him talking about the Bank of Canada (BoC), and he suddenly seems to vibrate on a higher intensity level.

“When I’m prime minister, we’ll have sound money. The Bank of Canada will have one job, and that’s to keep inflation at two per cent with an eye not just to CPI inflation, but asset price inflation. And that’s how we’re going to stabilize demand for assets like housing,” he says.

John Robson: Beijing’s Influencers Are Hidden in Plain Sight and We Do Nothing

Even now he thinks they’re “games.” After all the warnings about the Chinese Communist Party’s sinister intentions and methods, our prime minister told a news conference: “Unfortunately we’re seeing that countries, state actors from around the world, whether it’s China or others, are continuing to play aggressive games with our institutions, with our democracies.” If these manoeuvres are “games,” the state actors are playing for keeps. We don’t seem to be.

What’s it going to take for the Liberals to crack down on Chinese subterfuge?

God only knows what it’s going to take.

Twelve years ago, the warning came from Richard Fadden, then the director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service. At least two provincial cabinet ministers and several municipal politicians were more or less puppets of the People’s Republic of China, he said, initially avoiding mentioning China by name, for the sake of discretion. “I’m making this comment because I think it’s a real danger that people be totally oblivious to this kind of issue,” Fadden said at the time.

Unless a very damaging leak emerges nothing will be done.

Canada’s China Class exemplified by sleazebags such as Dominic Barton, currently involved with turning what’s left of Canada into a 3rd world shithole via mass immigration, hold sway with our political class.

Canada has been sold out by our elites.

2.9 Million Canadians on Wait List for Surgery, Scans, and Specialists

At least 2.9 million Canadians are waiting for surgery, diagnostic scans, or specialist appointments, according to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests obtained by SecondStreet.org, a think tank. Not all provinces had data available, leading SecondStreet.org to suggest that the true total could be close to 4 million people on waiting lists.
Waiting lists are at historic highs, according to the Fraser Institute’s 2021 report, Waiting Your Turn: Wait Times for Health Care in Canada. The report said that the median wait time in 2021 was the longest recorded in the survey’s history.

Inflation, COVID-19 holding Canadians back from holiday travel, poll suggests

High inflation and COVID-19 are dampening some Canadians’ hopes for travelling as the holiday season approaches, a new poll indicates.

Right now, 77 per cent of 1,001 Canadians Ipsos surveyed exclusively for Global News in October said they’re comfortable travelling within Canada over the holidays, while 55 per cent said the same for international travel.

Trudeau ‘has failed to protect our democracy’ from China’s threats, says Poilievre

Reacting to claims that China interfered in the 2019 federal election, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said Wednesday that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has failed to protect Canada’s democracy and Conservative MPs are pushing for a parliamentary committee investigation.

Poilievre made the remarks in Vancouver while Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly was giving a speech in Toronto about the release of the Liberal government’s forthcoming Indo-Pacific strategy.

“It’s very troubling that the prime minister has known about allegations about foreign interference in Canadian elections since last January and he hasn’t taken any action,” Poilievre said.

Canadian Navy to Mandate COVID-19 Boosters for Sailors, Leaked Memo Shows

The Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) has mandated that all sailors stationed at sea must receive up-to-date COVID-19 vaccinations, which includes at least one booster shot “within the last six months.”

“My direction remains that only sailors with up to date vaccinations, defined as the primary vaccination series plus either a booster within the last 6 months or a confirmed recovery from a COVID-19 infection within the last 6 months, be employed or undergo training as a member of crew aboard HMC ships and submarines,” wrote RCN Vice-Admiral Angus Topshee in a Nov. 4 unclassified memo obtained by The Epoch Times.

China ‘increasingly disruptive global power’, says Canadian foreign minister … The free world sleeps better knowing Joly stands ready to do violence on their behalf

“China is an increasingly disruptive, global power,” Joly told a Toronto audience. “It seeks to shape the global environment into one that is more permissive for interests and values that increasingly depart from ours.

Actually China’s values are much admired by PM Arsehole and he loves the money they dump in his foundation, not to mention their very “Liberal” campaign donations.

Report Distributed by Former Ottawa Police Chief Says Freedom Convoy a ‘Right Wing Christian’ Movement

A report authored by a police consultant and distributed by the former Ottawa Police Service (OPS) chief says the Freedom Convoy protests were a “movement by right wing Christians” who wished to attract followers.

“It’s a movement by right wing Christians who used mandates as a pretense to gain a following and privileged access as ‘protesters,’” wrote Erin Kelly, CEO of the contracted market research firm Advanced Symbolics Inc., in an email to Ottawa Police officials on Feb. 6, according to Blacklock’s Reporter.

OPS chief at the time, Peter Sloly, urged in a subsequent email that the consultant’s report be widely distributed among OPS officials, saying that it provides “really important insights.”

You can just see the thought process here… Hmmm gotta justify my invoice… I know!! Demonize Christians!! The Trudeau government loves that!!

John Ivison: Trudeau government has done nothing to stop China’s ‘games’

OTTAWA — Justin Trudeau’s acknowledgement that the Chinese are playing “aggressive games” by interfering in Canadian elections is about as shocking as Captain Renault finding gambling was rampant at Rick’s Cafe in Casablanca.

The prime minister was responding to questions raised in an excellent Global News report about China targeting Canada with a campaign of interference in the 2019 election that included payments through intermediaries to at least 11 federal candidates.
