Ottawa cuts funding to activist group accused of anti-Catholic bias

A Toronto-based activist organization accused of targeting Catholics and pro-life groups has lost its federal heritage funding for the first time since 2020 after MPs raised concerns the taxpayer-funded group was fueling political division.

Access To Information records show the Canadian Anti-Hate Network received nearly $700,000 from the Department of Canadian Heritage over the past five years before its latest funding agreement expired Feb. 28 without renewal.

This was Bernie Farber’s gang. I wonder if he’s given himself credit for helping create “The Silence”.

According to Catholic News Agency, it is unclear whether or not arson was the cause of the fire.

Anti-Christian Hatred in Europe: Report Warns of Growing Phenomenon

“Christianophobia”—understood as hostility, discrimination, or violence directed against Christian people and symbols because they are Christian—is a phenomenon that is becoming increasingly visible and serious across Europe. A report published by the European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ) on December 1st highlights an often underestimated reality: the rise in anti-Christian hate crimes—physical, legal and social—profoundly affecting the religious freedom and daily lives of Christians on the continent.

The ECLJ and the Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe (OIDAC) have compiled data showing that no fewer than 2,211 anti-Christian crimes were committed in 2024, including 274 physical assaults, across a panel of 35 European countries studied.

Fire that destroyed Toronto’s historic St. Anne’s church now suspected to be arson

St. Anne’s Anglican Church

The fire that destroyed a historic Toronto church last year and more than a dozen murals by the Group of Seven is now being treated as suspected arson, Toronto police said Monday.

The 117-year-old St. Anne’s Anglican Church in Little Portugal burned in June 2024, leaving only the church’s brick walls and the charred skeleton of its domed roof behind. Days after the fire, Toronto police said the fire was not being investigated as arson, but in a meeting after St. Anne’s worship service on Sunday, Toronto detective Patrick Stewart informed the congregation of the change.

ARSON? That’s a grave charge.

The rising fear of American Christians

Why are churches arming themselves?

Church bulletins don’t usually set passions aflame, but last month, an ad in the newsletter of The Ascension Catholic Church in Chesterfield, Missouri, did just that. Placed by parishioner John Ray, the ad called to recruit “all young men back to the church to form a militia” at the Legion of Sancta Lana. Those taking up the offer would be tasked with “protecting the Holy Eucharist, our congregation, our clergy and the church grounds from violent and non-violent attacks”.

EU Report Ignores Muslim Violence to Label Catholics ‘Religious Extremists’

According to new report, opposition to abortion is more ‘extreme’ than rape.

AEuropean abortion lobby is warning against “religious extremism” on the rise across the continent, singling out Catholicism and ignoring the threat posed to Europe by Islam. The 158-page report “The Next Wave: How Religious Extremism Is Reclaiming Power,” published by the European Parliamentary Forum for Sexual & Reproductive Rights (EPF), faults “religious extremism” for the phenomenon of “accelerating financial expansion of movements working to dismantle decades of hard-won sexual and reproductive rights across Europe.”

Trump Vows to End Bias Against Christians

Despite its still large number of adherents, Christianity has borne the brunt of ruling class hostility toward religious faith.

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi held a press conference Tuesday where she formally launched the White House Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias.

The issue of anti-Christian bias extends as well into the halls of academia. U.S. President Donald Trump mandated the task force through a Presidential Executive Order in February. The decision is designed to end the anti-Christian weaponization of government and unlawful conduct targeting Christians.

Joining the attorney general were members of President Trump’s cabinet and key government agencies as well as people purportedly affected by anti-Christian bias during the Biden administration.

Columbia Is Targeting Catholic Students Like Me

The university says it’s cracking down on campus anti-Semitism. Instead, it’s going after a student for publicly expressing his faith.

Columbia University has told the Trump administration that it’s cracking down on anti-Semitic violence and intimidation and winding down DEI. But behind closed doors, the university’s Office of Institutional Equity (OIE), a new bureaucracy supposedly set up to address campus anti-Semitism, is targeting me for expressing my Catholic faith.

BEST: Does Ontario’s police force have something against Christianity?

‘How Canada’s third-largest police force erases Ontario’s majority faith.’

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP,) under the leadership of Commissioner Thomas Carrique, has embraced an expansive recognition of religious and cultural observances.

Yet throughout 2024 and to now in April 2025, Christianity — including Christmas and Easter — has been notably absent from the force’s official acknowledgments. While nearly every major religious and social heritage celebration was publicly marked by the OPP with enthusiasm, Ontario’s most widely observed Christian holidays were reduced to generic seasonal greetings stripped of any reference to their religious significance.
