A majority of Canadians are struggling to keep up with the rising cost of living, a new Angus Reid survey has found, with seven in 10 saying they worry about money regularly.
According to the Cost of Living Index, 53% of Canadians agreed or strongly agreed with the statement, “I can’t keep up with the cost of living.”
One of the bolder economic moves against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine was taken by the European Union and Canada when they banned all Russian aircraft from landing in their countries or even flying through their airspace. That decision was put to the test yesterday when an Aeroflot commercial jet flew through Canadian airspace on the way from Miami to Moscow. “We used it as a big deterrent for people to come into the area. So, yes, in fact, we did use the measures that were put in the Emergencies Act, along with other authorities that we had.”
The bank accounts of some Freedom Convoy supporters are still frozen. The freezing of these accounts was announced the same day Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act and, even though the Emergencies Act is now lifted, some accounts remain frozen.
