LA tourism slumps with Canadian traffic falling 32% in the three months of Summer.

‘They just don’t come’: What’s making L.A.’s tourism tumble

Months of negative news have triggered a tough summer for tourism in Los Angeles, deepening the economic woes for a city buffeted by natural disasters and immigration raids.

Tourist arrivals fell by close to 10% this season, according to the latest numbers from Visit California.

… Of all the state’s international travelers, the most significant absence was from Canadian tourists. Arrivals from visitors from up north fell 32% in the three months of Summer.

You’ll note that Trump policies are to blame for everything, except the fires but I’m sure they’re working on that.

No mention that LA is a hopelessly mismanaged crime ridden gangsters paradise with a huge homeless problem and its signature industry is fleeing the city and state.

Canada lists the Bishnoi gang as a terrorist entity

OTTAWA — In a major escalation of Canada’s response to transnational organized crime and geopolitically motivated diaspora violence, the federal government today designated the India-based Bishnoi gang, led by Lawrence Bishnoi, as a terrorist entity under Canada’s Criminal Code. The listing bars Canadians from financing or aiding the group and allows authorities to seize property and freeze accounts.

Canada lists the Bishnoi gang as a terrorist entity

Canada has listed India’s Bishnoi gang as a terrorist entity, allowing the federal government to seize property and freeze money owned by the group in the country.

The federal public safety minister announced the move on Monday, saying the gang created a climate of fear and intimidation in Canadian diaspora communities.

Last year, Canadian police alleged that agents of the Indian government were using Bishnoi members to carry out “homicides, extortion and violent acts” and target supporters of the pro-Khalistan movement.

Ontario’s premier has a habit of weighing in on criminal cases. Some lawyers say he should be more careful

When Doug Ford stood next to family members of Andrew Cristillo, the Ontario father who was killed in a head-on collision in August, the premier didn’t mince words.

“This wasn’t an accident, it was a murder,” said Ford, speaking to reporters on Sept. 5.

The accused, Jaiwin Victor Kirubananthan, is facing several charges, including dangerous driving causing death. He is not facing murder charges, and the charges against him have not yet been tested in court.

Canada Post denies Ottawa’s reforms give it leverage over striking union in negotiations

Canada Post is denying the Liberal government’s directive to change the postal service’s operational model gives it leverage over the striking union in negotiations, as the two sides continue their days-long showdown.

“I wouldn’t argue that it’s given us any leverage,” said Jon Hamilton, a spokesperson for Canada Post during an interview on Rosemary Barton Live that aired Sunday. “[The union] walked out in response to them.”

BARCLAY: Canada is a failing state

For decades, the Canadian state has consistently located itself at the vanguard of progress and national excellence.

For instance, from 2006-2014, Canada’s GDP steadily increa    sed, crime declined, and the Canadian state was often lauded as a paragon of democracy. Furthermore, throughout the 2000s and early 2010s, Canada remained a stalwart, esteemed member of the international community, and Canadians everywhere constantly enjoyed a remarkable quality of life.

Members of his own party worry Doug Ford isn’t conservative enough. His supporters in the Liberal and NDP parties say so what?

Members of his own party worry Doug Ford isn’t conservative enough. His supporters say, so what?

Doug Ford is probably the most popular and successful Tory politician in Canada, but he still has his detractors within the conservative movement.

The three-term Progressive Conservative premier, whose party is at a near-record high of 52 per cent support in the latest Abacus Data survey, has long triggered Tories who feel he’s drifted too far to the mushy middle of the political spectrum due to his reliance on public-opinion polling.

Amid threats of annexation, could Canada and Greenland grow closer?

Miilu Gehlert has just spent hours captaining a water taxi deep into the Nuuk Fjord, a winding waterway that lies just north of Greenland’s capital.

But it’s far from the most difficult task he’s had to navigate.

“We were out for four days and maybe managed to get around 10 hours of sleep in four days,” he recalled of one tour. “Full of mosquitoes, not a lot of sleep, had to keep an eye open for enemies — yeah, it was tough.”

BARBER: Prime Minister Carney’s “rupture” is not what he claims

Carney’s “rupture” isn’t America’s doing — it’s the collapse of his own globalist illusion.

At the beginning of September, the Prime Minister, speaking in Mississauga, stated that the changes initiated by the Trump administration were not a “transition” but a “rupture.” He expanded on this, emphasizing the rupture’s adversity and calling it “a new age of economic nationalism and mercantilism.” He continued to use this message to rally Canadians under the flag of patriotism. This is “elbows up” without the elbows.

Muslim charity’s lawsuit accuses Stoney Creek church of ‘bad faith’ in preventing Islamic school lease

A Muslim charity’s lawsuit alleges a landlord cancelled a new lease agreement with the organization after a Hamilton pastor — with a church that would be sharing the space — made Islamophobic comments during a recent service.

The Toledo Foundation was hoping the new space would host its Islamic school and said the cancellation has impacted dozens of children who had set their sights on attending it this fall.

The lawsuit, filed Sept. 17 in Ontario Superior Court, is against Great Life Church and the company that owns the building where the church operates in Stoney Creek, a community in Hamilton.

Geography and destiny

Two days before Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent visit to Berlin, Canada put on a little show at the German Foreign Ministry.

This country, the Group of Seven president this year, was one of three that did so at the Auswärtiges Amt’s open house. Walking up the red carpet and through the marbled halls, one could see little Maple Leaf flags sticking out of backpacks and waved by children. Bully, the polar bear mascot for the Eisbären Berlin hockey team, also made an appearance.

But there were few other offerings. Canada gave out a singular maple syrup candy for completing a bingo quiz with questions such as “What is the name of the Prime Minister of Canada?” (One could keep the faux-wooden pen, though.)

Last week, Canada’s largest library, the Toronto Public Library, announced it would be increasing the number of branches that offer crisis and social support services. This builds on a 2023 pilot project between the library and Toronto’s Gerstein Crisis Centre to service people experiencing mental health, substance abuse and other issues.
