Alberta man was ISIS propagandist, police say

Writing under the alias “Sulaiman Dawood al-Kanadie,” he penned fiery propaganda for the Islamic State about attacks that would dwarf Sept. 11, 2001.

In the ISIS magazine Voice of Khurasan, he praised the terror group’s late leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, demonized Jews and lectured about fighting jihad.

But the internet wasn’t as anonymous as he thought, according to recently-unsealed court documents that detail the RCMP’s investigation on the case.

Canadians made three million fewer trips to the U.S. during summer travel boycott

Canadian travellers held strong to their boycott of travel to the United States right to the end of the summer, blowing a sizable hole in the U.S. tourism sector, the latest numbers from Statistics Canada show.

In August, the number of Canadian residents returning by vehicle from the U.S. plunged 33.9 per cent year-over-year to 1.9 million, while the number of residents returning by air fell 25.4 per cent to 423,000, the agency said.

My suspicion is that while the boycott certainly accounts for the majority of the decrease in trips the fact that Canadians are realizing they’re much more poor than they knew also plays a big role.

Federal government is ‘urgently’ trying to dissolve B.C.-based terror group Samidoun, Joly says

OTTAWA — The Canadian government is “urgently” looking for a way to dissolve the not-for-profit status of Samidoun, a Vancouver-based anti-Israel organization that has been designed as a terror group, Industry Minister Mélanie Joly announced on social media on Thursday.

“It is completely unacceptable that any organization listed as a terrorist entity by the Government of Canada continues to exist as a federally registered not-for-profit organization,” wrote Joly. “I have therefore directed government officials to urgently look at any and all options to formally dissolve Samidoun as well as any and all listed terrorist entities in Canada.”

BS. The Liberals are simply avoiding having to offend their Muslim vote bloc.

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government is expected to introduce legislation as early as Tuesday to crack down on people willfully intimidating and obstructing individuals entering places of worship, cultural community centres and schools, CBC News has learned.

A source with knowledge of the government’s plans says Ottawa will propose three new offences under Canada’s Criminal Code, including creating a new hate crime offence.

Carney promised during his election campaign to respond to what he’s called a “horrifying rise in hate” including antisemitism and Islamophobia. He signalled to his caucus this week changes were coming.

WARMINGTON: Canadians celebrating Charlie Kirk’s assassination may be banned from U.S

It’s not as if the Anti-American Elbows Up crowd would care or anyone who voted LPC or NDP for that matter

The reaction to the murder of Charlie Kirk has been almost as brutal and disturbing as the slaying itself.

One Canadian journalist took to social media to say it was “delicious” to see Charlie Kirk shot and killed with a gun.

Scrapping 100% tariff on Chinese EVs would be death knell for Canada’s auto industry, experts warn

As the federal government reviews Canada’s 100 per cent tariff on Chinese electric vehicles, industry insiders warn that ditching it entirely would be “an existential threat” to the Canadian automotive industry.

The tariff, which came into place almost a year ago, faces an automatic review, with results due by Oct. 1. Getting rid of it would prompt harsh retaliation from the U.S., and be the death knell for automotive production here, said the head of the association representing Detroit’s Big Three automakers in Canada.

‘Who wouldn’t want pure cocaine?’: Vancouver’s Drug User Liberation Front believes we shouldn’t blame users for the ills of capitalism

On 12 August 2017, I ran from the car that James Alex Fields, a white supremacist, plowed into a crowd of anti-racist organizers in Charlottesville, Virginia. Other people’s blood splattered on me. I lost my friends in the crowd and panicked. I thought I might die.

A month later, I woke up on a work trip in a hotel room alone in Oakland, California, with my hands trembling, and an unshakeable feeling that I was being chased by a pack of wild animals. I was having a mental breakdown.

This feeling did not cease for months. Repairing myself from that breakdown took years. In many ways, it is ongoing.

Carney’s next big test is solving immigration concerns

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government is contemplating its immigration targets for the next three years. It should heed the wishes of most Canadians and make drastic cuts.

In its first failure to take Canadians’ immigration concerns seriously, Carney’s government has already exceeded this year’s targets for temporary foreign workers. But another test rapidly approaches. Immigration Minister Lena Diab is expected to announce the government’s immigration targets for the next three years. Most Canadians — native-born and immigrant alike — want less immigration. The government needs to make a sharp U-turn now and heed the public’s wishes.

An ‘important minority’ of young Canadians believe terrorism can be justified: poll

An “important minority” of young Canadians say terrorism can be justified, according to a new poll tied to the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The poll, conducted by Leger for Association for Canadian Studies (ACS), revealed this ideology held by one in five Canadians under the age of 25. They likely “believe that the architects of terrorist attacks are themselves victims, and as such, they may conclude that the ends justify the means in pursuing the objective, however they choose to interpret it,” ACS president and CEO Jack Jedwab told National Post over email.

Sounds like Muslim Yutes!

Half of Canadians think Poilievre’s chances of beating Carney are ‘poor,’ while PM’s honeymoon erodes: poll

OTTAWA — Half of Canadians believe Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre’s chances of beating Prime Minister Mark Carney are poor at best even as Carney’s approval ratings show the first signs of slipping, according to a new Leger poll.

“Mr. Poilievre still has work to do… to broaden his appeal to the greater electorate,” Leger executive vice-president Andrew Enns said in an interview.

‘Steep decline’ continues: Canada-U.S. travel data down again in August

New preliminary data shows that trips between Canada and the United States are down once again in August, in what Statistics Canada notes is the seventh straight month of declining international travel.

Last month, 1.8 million U.S. residents entered Canada by automobile and just shy of 590,000 did so by air, down 4.5 and 3.6 per cent, respectively, from August 2024.

Canadian travellers, meanwhile, showed a “steep decline” in trips to the United States, with U.S. automobile travel down roughly 34 per cent and air travel down more than 25 per cent from 12 months prior.

‘Palestine’ can’t just be ‘conjured up’: Douglas Murray blasts Mark Carney

Outspoken British journalist Douglas Murray has a blunt take on Israel’s strikes in Qatar, targeting Hamas’s leadership. “The scandal is not that Israel acted, but that it had to.” In an interview in Montreal with National Post, Murray, the bestselling author of On Democracies and Death Cults: Israel and the Future of Civilization, offered a sharp and unapologetic view on Israel’s decision to target Hamas leaders in Doha.

We now support Hamas? What a stupid statement by Carney. h/t Mauser
