China says Canada should ‘draw lessons’ from Huawei exec case

BEIJING, Sept 27 (Reuters) – The release of Huawei Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou shows China’s strength and Canada should “draw lessons,” China’s foreign ministry said on Monday, after state media called it an opportunity for a reboot of bilateral relations.

Meng landed in Huawei’s home city of Shenzhen aboard a government-chartered plane on Saturday to much fanfare, ending her near three-year U.S. extradition fight, the same day two Canadians detained by Beijing shortly after Meng’s 2018 detention returned home.

Meng’s return shows the ability of the Chinese government and ruling Communist Party to protect its citizens, companies, and interests, foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a regular daily briefing.

Adam Zivo: Canada needs to talk about China’s apparent election interference

Though the recent election was mostly an expensive waste of time, it highlighted an emerging problem that all Canadians should be worrying about: China’s interference into Canada’s domestic politics.

For months, disinformation experts have been sounding the alarm about influence campaigns organized by the People’s Republic of China. In February, CSIS noted that China is aggressively targeting Canadians — a sentiment which was echoed by the National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians, as well as civil society actors such as the Macdonald-Laurier Institute.

Canada is soft on China and the U.S. knows it

Canada was never a global superpower and, frankly, didn’t need to be. Where other nations had military might and economic weight to throw around, we had international goodwill, a reputation for doing the right thing, and an enviable relationship with the United States. Under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that relationship has now been squandered at the cost of our international credibility.

Chinese government initiated dialogue to release two Michaels: Canada’s ambassador to the U.S.

EDMONTON — Canada’s ambassador to the U.S. says the Chinese government initiated the dialogue to release Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor.

Speaking to CTV’s Question Period Sunday, ambassador Kirsten Hillman said that as the judicial negotiation of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou’s case with the U.S. Department of Justice came closer to a resolution, China began to bow to pressure to release the two Canadians.

I don’t doubt it. But it was done to suit China’s ends & not out of the goodness of their heart or fear of public opinion. It further serves to drive a wedge between Canada and its allies, especially the US. Trudeau is a useful idiot.

Terry Glavin: Only Chinese strongman Xi Jinping knows why the Michaels were released

We should all be very happy that the 1,019-day prison ordeal endured by Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor in China has finally ended. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is quite right that we should be happy for them, and for their families, if only because everything else about this whole squalid business has given Canadians every reason to feel disgusted, embarrassed, ashamed and angry.

Daphne Bramham: Meng Wanzhou is free, so now what?

With the Huawei executive’s extradition now taken care of, Canada no longer has an excuse to not clarify its China policy

So long. Farewell. Auf Wiedersehen. Goodbye. And please, Meng Wanzhou, don’t come back.

The Huawei executive can finally leave Vancouver and go home to China after being freed Friday by a New York court that confirmed a “deferred prosecution agreement” on charges of fraud and conspiracy.

Canada’s China Class Blames Trump for Meng Detention – Anxious to display renewed fealty to Xi’s Genocidal regime

Resolving Meng case removes giant thorn from Canada’s business relationship with China

Canada has a strong extradition law with the United States to prevent people accused of crimes from avoiding justice across the border. Some observers suspect the former U.S. administration led by Donald Trump exploited that strong relationship to weaken Canada’s ties with China.

“It depends how cynical you are,” said Houlden, who has worked in China and is well connected in Washington, D.C. “Some would say by putting a spike in Canada-China relations, which the Meng Wanzhou extradition case certainly did, that may well have served U.S. strategic interests as well.”

I may have missed it but I do not recall mention of the Uyghur genocide in this CBC article which reads like a propaganda piece for the Liberal Government’s China Class. Sickening to read that Canada’s trade with China actually increased during the hostage taking.

It’s no wonder Canada has become a pariah among former allies and illustrates why we should never trust the corporate and political classes.

Terry Glavin: Justin Trudeau went all in on China a decade ago — and nothing can shake his resolve

Justin Trudeau has been singularly focused on trade with China, regardless of what the country’s sadistic leadership does

In the way the story’s usually told, relations between Canada and China are said to be at the lowest point in decades, or at an all-time low, or chillier than ever. But any close examination of the relationship will show that what these expressions more precisely describe is an ongoing, abject humiliation of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government by China’s capricious and sadistic supreme ruler, Xi Jinping.

Justin was re-elected thanks to Xi and Canada’s China Class so why wouldn’t he be Gung-ho?

Hostage Diplomacy Works: China welcomes Meng Wanzhou’s return, but silent on ‘Two Michaels’ released

Chinese state media welcomed telecoms giant Huawei’s chief financial officer, Meng Wanzhou, back to the “motherland” on Saturday, after more than 1,000 days under house arrest in Canada, on what they called unfounded charges of bank fraud.

But they have kept silent about Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor, the two Canadians released from Chinese custody in an apparent act of reciprocation by Beijing.

It’s a victory for China and Canada’s China class, just like the election was won by the LPC thanks to the CCP’s backing of Trudeau. China does not care about western public opinion.

China has released detained Canadians Kovrig, Spavor: PM

OTTAWA / TORONTO — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says China has released detained Canadians Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor.

The two Canadians have been in Chinese custody for 1,019 days on espionage charges that were largely viewed as a retaliatory response to Canada’s arrest of Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou on a U.S. warrant related to the company’s business dealings in Iran. However, China’s has consistently denied that the cases were in any way connected.

Frankly I am surprised.

Britain offers Canadian military help to defend the Arctic

Britain is signalling its interest in working with the Canadian military in the Arctic by offering to take part in cold-weather exercises and bring in some of its more advanced capabilities — such as nuclear-powered submarines — to help with surveillance and defence in the Far North.

In a recent exclusive interview with CBC News, the United Kingdom’s top military commander said his country is “keen to cooperate” and learn more about how to survive and fight in a cold, remote setting.

Gen. Sir Nick Carter said Britain would also like to “cooperate in terms of helping Canada do what Canada needs to do as an Arctic country.”

Andrew Richter: Under the Liberals, Canada has effectively disappeared as an international actor

Last week, the United States, United Kingdom and Australia announced a new defence and security partnership, dubbed AUKUS, which is intended to present a unified front toward an increasingly aggressive China, and demonstrate to other countries that the U.S. intends to remain engaged in the Asia-Pacific region for decades to come. Not only was Canada not included in the agreement, but the federal government seemed to be completely blind-sided by the announcement — a reflection of our diminished stature on the world stage.

Conservative vote plunged in Canada’s most Chinese electorates. Did party pay price for tough stance on Beijing?

Almost as soon as he entered Canada’s parliament in 2019, Conservative Kenny Chiu became a prominent advocate for what he called Hong Kong’s “political freedom”, and a tough critic of Beijing.

Weeks after being comfortably elected in Steveston-Richmond East, one of Canada’s most ethnically Chinese electorates, Chiu was back in his birthplace of Hong Kong as an international monitor for the city’s district council elections.

Chinese COVID Vaccine Based on Technology Developed Jointly by Fired Winnipeg Scientist and PLA Major General: Expert

The COVID-19 vaccine developed by Chinese company CanSino, with whom Ottawa partnered before the deal fell through, used technology developed in a 2016 paper on Ebola by a now-fired scientist from a government laboratory in Winnipeg and a Chinese major general, an expert says.

The government’s partnership on the clinical development of the CanSino vaccine, first announced on May 12, 2020, fell apart on Aug. 26, 2020, after Beijing blocked shipment of the vaccine to Canada.

Canada’s China Class is working hard to suppress the truth of their treason.

The persistent threat of foreign interference in Canada’s democracy – Communist China Backs Trudeau

“… The threat of foreign interference in this election has already been detected. A Chinese Communist Party-owned media platform, Global Times, published an article last week to discredit Conservative leader Erin O’Toole and his party’s platform. The anonymous article threatened Canadians with a “counterstrike” if they elect a Conservative government. The article is the very definition of foreign interference.

MPs from different parties have also been targeted by Beijing aligned actors in efforts to influence the election outcome in their ridings. One of them is Conservative MP, Kenny Chiu, who introduced a private members bill in June 2021 to create a federal Canadian registry for individuals and organizations that act on behalf of identified, malign foreign regimes.”

Canada’s treasonous China class is deeply embedded in the Liberal Party. Both Xi and his minion Justin want to quash inquiries into the Winnipeg virus lab.
