SLOBODIAN: Tens of millions spent — zero female entrepreneurs empowered

Well, Mary Ng is gone — and so is the $130 million in taxpayer dollars the former Liberal federal trade minister allocated to support women’s business start-ups and generate jobs … that never materialized.

Ng didn’t seek re-election in the Markham-Thornhill riding, but she did hang around long enough — a little past the required six years — to collect her handsome MP pension and trot off into the sunset. Well-earned?

Poilievre says temporary foreign workers taking jobs from young Canadians

OTTAWA — Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says temporary foreign workers are taking jobs from young Canadians while youth unemployment is high.

Poilievre made the comment today during a press conference in Charlottetown, several days after the government released mid-year immigration data.

On Monday, Poilievre said on social media the government had exceeded caps it set for temporary worker visas, and accused the government of being “out of control” on immigration.

Liberals are already missing their promised lower immigration targets

Despite promises from the Liberal government that they would be curbing the sky-high immigration rates of the Trudeau era, new data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada shows that Canada is already on track to exceed its 2025 targets.

In the first seven months of 2025, Canada accepted 246,300 new permanent residents, according to data released last week by IRCC.

Canada scrambles to fill equipment gaps as it extends Latvia mission

The Liberal government has extended Canada’s NATO presence in Latvia for another three years, but it is still struggling to fill in the equipment gaps as the war in Ukraine rapidly reshapes the battlefield troops might be expected to fight on.

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the three-year extension Tuesday night following a meeting with Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silina in Riga, the capital of the Baltic country.

On Wednesday, he visited Canadian troops at Camp Adazi, where roughly 2,200 Canadian soldiers are serving along with 1,300 troops from more than a dozen other NATO nations.

‘Who let her in??!’ Minister’s staff accidentally text deliberations about 15 per cent spending cut to reporter

OTTAWA — With ministers due to present their proposals for a 15 per cent spending review, deciding where to cut carries inescapable “political consequences,” according to the staff of Environment Minister Julie Dabrusin.

A rare glimpse into the internal deliberations was offered to National Post — when one of her staff accidentally added a reporter to a group chat.

LILLEY: Liberals promised fewer temporary foreign workers, instead we got more

Do you remember when the Liberals in Ottawa promised to curb immigration, which had gotten out of control?

Seems they don’t remember, either, because the latest figures show that they are going well above what they promised to drop them down to.

What’s worse is that even with high unemployment and a housing crisis, a significant percentage of people coming into Canada are temporary residents on a work permit.

Lying Bastard Liberals.

Kelly McParland: Carney’s agenda stopped dead by industries addicted to Ottawa’s largess

Prime Minister Mark Carney spent part of this month on a less-hectic work schedule. He was even spotted walking along a street in Ottawa with his wife, just like a normal human being. After months of intense activity he presumably saw a need to pause, assess progress and reflect on the past year. His conclusion may well have been: what was I thinking?

The message of his new non-Trudeau government was one of action: it was time to move fast, do big things and revitalize the country. Six months in, he’s already being criticized for failing to deliver. We still have tariffs! U.S. President Donald Trump’s still harassing us! Houses still cost too much! Where’s the new pipeline and all those big projects?

Citizens coalition slams Liberals for ‘out-of-control’ immigration system

The National Citizens Coalition is warning Canada’s immigration system is in chaos, blaming Liberal policies for driving the housing crisis, straining hospitals, and leaving young Canadians without work.

In a statement Tuesday, the group launched its Canadians for Responsible Immigration campaign, calling for an immediate rollback of record immigration levels and a return to what it described as the more sustainable policies of a decade ago.

WARMINGTON: With ‘elbows up’ era over, it’s wonderful time for another election

We’re just four months removed from a federal election and Kevin O’Leary thinks it’s a wonderful time to call another one.

“Now everybody realizes that ‘elbows up’ is stupid,” said the Shark Tank star in an interview. “It’s stupid. We want trade, not ‘elbows up’ with Americans. Americans don’t hate Canadians and Canadians don’t hate Americans. That’s all BS.”

Canada holding firm on recognizing Palestinian statehood even as Germany wavers

OTTAWA — Canada is holding firm on recognizing Palestinian statehood next month, even as Germany wavers.

During a press conference in Berlin with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Tuesday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said his country will not be joining other western nations in officially recognizing Palestinian statehood at the United Nations General Assembly.

ISIS Bride? 1st Class Treatment … Yazidi Refugees? Not so much.

Yazidi family in Winnipeg pleads for answers from Immigration Canada after ‘unclear X-Rays’

The Elias family’s glimmer of hope of being reunited with loved ones in Turkey is fading after the latest setback in the long process to acquire visas for them.

The Yazidi family living in Winnipeg was feeling optimistic after extended family members were granted interviews and medical assessments by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) last week.

Carney’s conundrum: Will he abandon some 40,000 farmers to save Canada’s auto industry?

You might have seen those bright yellow fields reaching toward the horizon under a clear blue sky — fields of canola spread across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, bringing in billions of dollars each year for farmers and their families.

Now the annual harvest is in danger: one of Canada’s biggest customers, China, has slapped a 76 per cent tariff on canola seed, as well as a 100 per cent tariff on canola oil and meal. Why has it done this? In retaliation for the 100 per cent tariff Canada applied to Chinese electric vehicles starting last October. We were copying the United States at the time, back when relations between our two countries were more cordial, to protect the American and Canadian auto industries. But the Canadian sector, which operates mostly in Ontario, has yet to produce a single EV.

Ukraine summit snub of Canada likely behind Carney’s Kyiv visit: Expert

Canada’s exclusion from last week’s White House meeting of NATO members and the Ukrainian president was likely behind the prime minister’s surprise visit to Kyiv this week.

That’s according to defence policy expert and Macdonald-Laurier Institute senior fellow Joe Varner, who said Canada’s diminishing profile in global affairs is likely why Prime Minister Mark Carney chose to visit Ukraine on Monday.

Jesse Kline: Samidoun wants the West to arm Hamas. Why is it still a non-profit?

“Why is a listed terrorist group still operating a Canadian non-profit?”

That’s the question being posed by B’nai Brith Canada in a new campaign aimed at pressuring the federal government to dissolve the Vancouver-based Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network, which still enjoys non-profit status despite being listed as a terrorist organization last fall.

Freeland email suggests government could punish charities for ‘misleading’ statements

Documents released under Access To Information reveal that then-Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland asserted in a 2023 email that the government could sanction charities for spreading information it deemed “false or misleading,” including threats to revoke their tax status.

I am grateful for these reminders that Freeland deserved our unmitigated hatred.
