Liberal MP “Attends” House Of Commons From Shitter

The Conservatives are alleging “contempt of the House” after a Liberal MP appeared to be participating in House of Commons proceedings virtually from a washroom stall on Friday.

Divershitty: Harbinger of things to come

Rising on a question of privilege on Monday morning, Conservative House Leader John Brassard said it didn’t bring him any pleasure to do so, but he felt the need to raise the “occurrence of misconduct,” as House administration indicated the incident had occurred, but there had been no follow up.

The alleged incident took place on Friday afternoon in the House of Commons. During a debate on a private members’ bill, Conservative MP Laila Goodridge rose on a point of order, flagging to Assistant Deputy Speaker Alexandra Mendes that it appeared the Liberal MP for Brampton Centre MP Shafqat Ali was participating from “a washroom.”

John Ivison: Sorry Canada. You’re still unlikely to snag cheap child care, no matter governments’ promises

As a columnist for 30 years, I’ve always tried to remember Bertrand Russell’s maxim not to expect people to take as much interest in me as I do myself.

In any case, I appear to have entered my anecdotage — not much happens in my tiny world worth relaying to the rest of the universe.

An exception was the response to one recent tweet on Canada’s promised low-cost, high-quality child-care system, which did spur some interest beyond my immediate family.

Chrystia Freeland’s history with George Soros

Freeland has a long history with Soros. In 2012, she wrote a print interview with the billionaire, which in many ways was a fluff piece that analyzed how Soros is able to predict winners and losers of global conflicts, notably China.

This article was published on ForeignPolicy.com which lists Freeland as “editor of Thomson Reuters Digital, working on a biography of George Soros and is author of Plutocrats: The Rise of the New Global Super Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else.”

Canada Not The Baby Killing Paradise Advertised By Trudeau Government Says Politico

While the offers from Trudeau’s government and providers are sincere, the reality is that access in Canada is complicated and “wait lists are through the roof.”

OTTAWA, Ont. — The Trudeau government wants it known that Canada is open to any Americans who may need to travel north to access an abortion.

Senior Cabinet ministers have been making the point in the wake of a draft opinion obtained by POLITICO that suggests the U.S. Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade and federal abortion rights in America.

Groups surprised at government ‘secrecy’ over online harm bill consultation

Some advocacy groups and individuals who submitted feedback to the federal government about its proposed online harms legislation say they were surprised the government didn’t make their consultation documents public, which would have ensured concerns about a “disturbing” and “extremely problematic” plan were heard widely.

Trudeau government tracked your trips to liquor stores, pharmacies via phones during pandemic

OTTAWA – Canadians’ movements, including trips to the liquor store and pharmacy, were closely tracked via their mobile phones without their knowledge during the COVID-19 pandemic, a report sent to a parliamentary committee shows.

Outbreak intelligence analysts BlueDot prepared reports using anonymized data for the Public Health Agency of Canada to help it understand travel patterns during the pandemic.

… The report reveals the agency was able to view a detailed snapshot of people’s behaviour, including visits to the grocery store, gatherings with family and friends, time spent at home and trips to other towns and provinces.

It’s becoming difficult to think of the worst thing about the Trudeau government, they keep coming up with new reasons to hate them.

Immigration Cannot Significantly Reduce Inflation

Many immigration advocates have recently called for increasing the number of immigrants allowed into the country to fill lower-wage jobs in order to decrease wages by increasing the supply of workers, thereby lessening inflation. In this post, we attempt to roughly estimate the possible impact of immigration-induced reductions in wages on consumer prices. We focus our analysis on the lower-wage sectors of the economy that primarily employ workers without a bachelor’s degree (the less-educated) because many of those advocating for more immigration have specifically called for more workers in these sectors. Our analysis shows that reducing wages for the less-educated is not an effective means of controlling inflation because such workers earn relatively little and as a result account for only a modest share of economic output. There is also the equally important question of whether reducing the wages of workers who are the lowest-paid is sound public policy.

Geoff Russ: Liberals melt over Rolling Thunder protest, but ignore left-wing vandals in Montreal

Comparing the weekend’s overblown coverage of Ottawa’s Rolling Thunder protest to the concurrent violent May Day protests in Montreal, exposes the blatant double-standards of how Canada’s governing politicians confront political violence.

Not that anyone needed reminding.

DND says review exonerates Canada’s mission in Ukraine of training extremists

The Department of National Defence (DND) says it has concluded its 2021 review into the findings of a report from George Washington University that cited allegations by a far-right group in the Ukrainian military that claimed it had trained with the Canadian Armed Forces and other western military and found itself absolved.

Russia Triples Down – Israel’s mercenaries are fighting in Ukraine with the Azov battalion!, says Moscow

In an interview with radio station Sputnik, Maria Zakharova stated, “Israeli mercenaries are practically shoulder to shoulder with Azov militants in Ukraine.”

Its members are part of the Ukrainian resistance in Mariupol, which is holed up within the Azovstal steel complex, which Russian soldiers attacked on Tuesday.

By implying that Israelis are fighting with Azov, whom Russia regards as “fascists” and “Nazis,” Moscow is exacerbating tensions that arose when Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov declared on Sunday that Hitler had “Jewish blood.”

Trudeau dropped an ‘F-bomb’ in Parliament Conservatives say … Extremism, hateful rhetoric becoming ‘normalized’ in Canada, spy agency head warns

Much has been made of the political legacy Justin Trudeau has to live up to as he follows in the footsteps of his father, a former prime minister.

On Wednesday, he invoked one of Pierre Elliott Trudeau‘s most memorable quips when asked whether he had uttered unparliamentary language.

Extremism, hateful rhetoric becoming ‘normalized’ in Canada, spy agency head warns

The head of Canada’s spy agency says the hateful rhetoric associated with ideologically motivated extremism is becoming “normalized” and is seeping into the mainstream.

Speaking at the University of British Columbia, Canadian Security Intelligence Service director David Vigneault said the use of social media and other online platforms to sow disinformation, misinformation, propaganda and hate continues to increase and accelerate.

He would know, it’s what his master’s do best.
