Rex Murphy: Tamara Lich Doesn’t Deserve the Humiliation She’s Been Subjected To

The world is naturally, and justly, absorbed in the reckless and cruel invasion of Ukraine. And anyone with even the mildest taste of history will know that Ukraine for much of the last 100 years has been a site of great cruelties imposed by communism and its most savage tyrant Stalin. Putin is doing his best to offer some rivalry to that demented butcher.

Liberal Party Disinformation: “Did Chrystia Freeland pose with extremist symbols or is it Russian disinformation?”

Canadian Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland is being assailed with online accusations that she posed with far-right symbols at a pro-Ukraine rally in Toronto. But the symbol may not be as far-right as critics claim, and Freeland’s office is saying the whole thing reeks of Russian-sponsored “disinformation.”

Justin Trudeau & The Misuse Of Words

Canadians love their Charter of Rights and Freedoms. This is not without reason. It begins with a preamble that reads, “Whereas Canada is founded upon principles that recognize the supremacy of God and the rule of law.” The supremacy of God and the rule of law are the foundation of Canadian democracy.

When on February 14, 2022, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act, the announcement caused shockwaves all over the country and, indeed, throughout the world. What serious threats might Canada face that this most drastic of measures was taken? As an aside, let me observe that the term “Emergencies Act” is a form of newspeak. Newspeak is an important instrument in attempts at reshaping people’s views. It served that role in Orwell’s 1984, and it does in Trudeau’s Canada. Canadians no longer have an External Affairs or Foreign Affairs Department. Instead, we now have a Global Affairs Department, so as to accommodate Justin Trudeau’s view as expressed to the New York Times that Canada is the “first postnational state,” since “there is no core identity, no mainstream in Canada.” He may be right, though for me this observation is cause for lament, not celebration.

Putinesque! Police grappling with members who allegedly donated to ‘Freedom Convoy’

CBC News has matched at least two dozen current and former members of the Ottawa Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police with a publicly leaked list of names identified as apparent donors to GiveSendGo, a crowdfunding site used to support the weeks-long occupation in Ottawa.

The OPP said it has launched an investigation into alleged officer donations to the convoy, but won’t divulge how many members are involved. Ottawa police (OPS) wouldn’t confirm whether they are investigating the matter.

It’s unclear what legal or disciplinary consequences — if any — police officers could face for donating money to the so-called Freedom Convoy that paralyzed downtown Ottawa for much of February.

Freeland says Canada’s new sanctions targeting Russia could hurt Canada’s economy as well

Freeland says Canada’s new sanctions targeting Russia could hurt Canada’s economy as well

Canada will hit Russia with more sanctions and economic policies designed to undermine Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ability to wage war — and some of those moves might end up hurting Canada’s economy, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said Tuesday.

Freeland made those remarks Tuesday afternoon after meeting with the finance ministers of the other G7 nations and the Ukrainian finance minister to discuss measures to punish Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.

Freeland’s remarks suggest the Trudeauscu regime will use the Ukraine invasion to advance his economy killing green-agenda. Never let a crisis go to waste.

Gas prices in Ontario set to soar this week to ‘a price we have never seen’

Gas prices in Ontario are set to hit another record this week, one expert says.

Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy, told CTV News Toronto on Tuesday that prices will jump two cents per litre on Wednesday to an average of $1.60 per liter.

The bigger increase will come on Thursday, when gas prices are expected to jump six cents to and average of $1.66 per litre.

Bank of Canada raises key interest rate to 0.5%

The Bank of Canada has hiked its key interest rate to 0.5 per cent, the first step of a series of signalled increases amid economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The overnight rate target will rise 25 basis points, the central bank announced Wednesday, up from the floor of 0.25 per cent it held for much of the pandemic.

CRAIG: Radical environmentalists have helped Putin

If you’re appalled by Vladimir Putin’s actions in Ukraine, consider how radical environmentalists in Canada helped enable the dictator.

To begin, note that Russia is the third-largest producer of oil in the world and the second-largest producer of natural gas. Much of those resources it produces are exported; according to The Economist, Russia is the largest provider of natural gas in Europe. The United States imports 585,000 barrels of oil per day from Russia, and even Canada has spent a small fortune importing Russian oil over the past decade – $3.6 billion.

Trudeau’s international reputation will never be the same

A major part of Justin Trudeau’s appeal to progressive voters in Canada is his international reputation as a liberal golden boy.

But Trudeau’s use of war-time measures to crack down a peaceful working class protest has shattered that image. It made him look weak, hypocritical, petty and mean.

How Canada became America’s new culture war

Canada never realized its trucker protests would catalyze the way they did — into rocket fuel for MAGA warriors in America’s cultural fight.

The diesel fumes, horn blasts and bouncy castles may have disappeared from downtown Ottawa, but Canadians are only beginning to come to terms with the lingering effect of the “Freedom Convoy.”

Over $154M tied to detained Chinese-Canadian oligarch invested in GTA real estate

A drab, bluish-green glass office tower just north of Toronto, 50 Minthorn Blvd. is unassuming save for a “Bank of China” sign that sits atop the eight-storey building.

But inside, on the first and second floors, is the footprint of companies tied to one of China’s most high-flying oligarchs, Xiao Jianhua. Beijing security agents whisked the Chinese-Canadian billionaire from the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong in a wheelchair five years ago. He hasn’t been heard from since.

Lauren Boebert: Canada ‘also’ needs to be ‘liberated’ along with Ukraine

“I pray for Ukraine and I wish them the best,” she explained. “They have a great president right now, who really said clearly, live free or die. He said, ‘I don’t need a ride, give me ammunition. The fight is right here.'”

“But we also have neighbors to the north who need freedom and who need to be liberated and we need that right here at home,” she added.

Features Of Fascism Permeate Trudeau’s Transformation of Canada

“Fascism is characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, bigotry against a demonized ‘other,’ and strong regimentation of society.”

 — Trudeau government suppress opposition by demonizing Canadians as racists and bigots. Government and media create community of “others” among anti-Vaxxers. Society  regimented like never before via Covid pandemic edicts.

“Fascism is hostile to classical liberalism and its individual freedoms of expression, conscience, association and peaceful assembly. Fascism creates a divide between ‘us and them,’ to deny equality to members of the bad minority.”

 — Trudeau government utilize Covid to suppress individual freedoms. Government and media establish “us and them” society through Vaxxer versus anti-Vaxxer communities. Denial of equality established through Emergencies Act and its “frozen bank account” measures.

What many convoy protesters get wrong about constitutional rights and the Governor General

… The Oakes test is used to determine if limiting a charter right is reasonable and can be justified under the law. The Oakes test says that the goal of limiting a right must be urgent and significant and that the way a right is limited must be proportional.

The Oakes test also requires a rational connection between the objective a government is trying to achieve and the right it is limiting. The right can be limited only enough to reach the objective and the harm caused by limiting a freedom must be balanced by the objective.

I’d say Trudeauscu failed the “Oakes Test.”
