Fauci ‘lied’ to Congress by saying he didn’t know why Trump canceled a $370k grant for the Wuhan Institute of Virology

Dr Anthony Fauci was accused of lying Sunday after claims he falsely denied knowing the reasons behind President Trumps’s decision to cut funding to the Chinese lab accused of releasing COVID-19.

The White House’s chief medical advisor initially resisted Trump’s order to halt taxpayer funding for the Wuhan Institute of Virology in April 2020, according to an upcoming book, before telling a house committee in June that he ‘didn’t know the reason’ behind the then-president’s decision.

FUREY: Canadians should be deeply ashamed of how we’ve harmed our youth

During last spring’s first lockdown I decamped from Toronto to a rural place that didn’t have the bandwidth for streaming services so spent my evenings watching retro movie channels on satellite TV.

Among the classics we saw, many were coming-of-age stories about the pains of youth. I re-watched ones I’d seen before, like Footloose and Grease. And I finally got around to Saturday Night Fever and Mystic Pizza.

Ontario reports 287 new Covid cases … and I gots Modernated!

Ontario reports 287 new Covid cases … and I gots Modernated!

Ontario reports 287 new COVID-19 cases; majority are now Delta variant

Ontario reported 287 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, along with 12 new deaths, as the province’s burden of known active cases hit its lowest point since last September.

Ontario reported 346 new cases on Saturday and 256 on Friday.

The seven-day rolling average of new cases now stands at 286, down slightly from 291 yesterday.

U.K. records highest daily COVID-19 cases in months amid Delta  Indian variant surge

The U.K. on Saturday recorded its most new coronavirus infections since early February as the National Health Service ran a “grab a jab” initiative to further drive up vaccination rates.

Government figures showed that another 18,270 people tested positive for the virus across the U.K, the highest daily number since February 5. Over the past week, nearly 100,000 have tested positive, around 50% increase up on the week before. That has raised questions over whether lockdown restrictions will end as planned.

So… I got my 2nd shot yesterday at the local mass jab joint.

Had I known better I would have ignored my scheduled appointment and showed up much earlier as they were letting anyone in who showed up.

They only had Moderna on offer. So far so good,  I ‘ve experienced none of the expected reactions I had with the Pfizer jab. Not feverish or achy etc.

And my heart hasn’t exploded.

Not yet at any rate. I’m told that’s a good sign.

I am so looking forward to that haircut.

Peterborough police won’t ticket cast & crew of CBC show for handshakes, laughter

We recently returned to the lovely little city of Peterborough, Ont., where the local constabulary take a very dim view of any sort of merriment in this day and age of COVID-19. You might recall our previous trip to Peterborough in April. We were there to cover an anti-lockdown protest staged at Confederation Square.

Diane Francis: Canadian Forces have right to know if they got COVID at the 2019 Military World Games in Wuhan

This week, lawmakers in the United States called for an investigation into whether the October 2019 Military World Games in Wuhan, China was a COVID-19 super-spreader event and whether officials should have known something was amiss, given that the city seemed unusually empty and was described by some participants as a “ghost town.”

Half of Adults Infected in Latest COVID-19 Outbreak Were Fully Vaccinated: Israeli Official

About 90 percent of new COVID-19 infections in Israel were caused by the CCP virus’s Delta variant, officials said, while adding that about half of the adults infected in the recent outbreak were fully vaccinated.

Ran Balicer, who leads an expert advisory panel for the Israeli government, in announcing the finding on Friday, said that the country might end up implementing another lockdown after opening up earlier this year, according to the Wall Street Journal. The fully vaccinated individuals were inoculated with the Pfizer COVID-19 shot commonly used in Israel.

I am scheduled for my 2nd vaccine dose today.

I received an email this week informing me that rather than Pfizer (my first dose) I will be getting jabbed with Moderna.

Okey Dokey. Yea I do feel like a guinea pig.

The news of the Indian variant’s ability to get past the jabs is concerning.

I suspect we will see round three of the inoculations come fall.

Symptoms are said to be less severe for the inoculated who still become infected.

That’s all we got. Nuke China.

US Senator Wants Canada Added to Watchlist of Religious Freedom Violators for Pastor Arrests

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) on Thursday appealed to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) to consider adding Canada to its special watchlist—alongside the likes of Afghanistan, Cuba, and Iraq—in response to arrests of Canadian pastors who held services that allegedly violated COVID-19 restrictions.

The USCIRF’s special watchlist (SWL) is a list of countries where state-sanctioned violations of religious freedoms meet two of the elements of the agency’s “systematic, ongoing, and egregious” test. A secondary list, called the Countries of Particular Concern (CPC), features countries like China and Iran that meet all three criteria and whose governments engage in or tolerate “particularly severe” violations, such as torture.

Canada’s China Class At Work: Agency head on hot seat over lab scientists’ firing has history with China ties and controversies

It’s been a tough few weeks for Iain Stewart.

As the federal government’s point man in a heated political fight, he faces parliamentary sanction for refusing to tell MPs exactly why two scientists with links to China were fired from the National Microbiology Laboratory.

This is the stuff Eisenhower warned about.

Step 2 in Ontario: What’s allowed to reopen?

Ontario is set to move into the next stage of its reopening plan on June 30, allowing small indoor gatherings to occur and personal care services to resume for the first time in months.

The province was originally scheduled to move to Step 2 on July 2, but, citing declining case counts and hospitalizations related to COVID-19, the government decided to move forward a few days earlier.

How the Lancet lost our trust

Because the Lancet has such remarkable reach and cachet, its mistakes really matter

Right from its first issue in 1823, the Lancet was more than just an ordinary medical journal. Its founding editor, the dyspeptic surgeon and coroner Thomas Wakley, purposefully gave the journal the name of a sharp scalpel that could cut away useless, diseased tissue: he used it as a campaigning organ, to push back against injustice, bad ideas and bad practice.
