Covid Vaccines Shouldn’t Be ‘Routine’ for Kids

The CDC’s latest guidelines could wind up lowering vaccination rates for truly dangerous diseases, like polio and measles. Dr. Vinay Prasad writes.

On Thursday, the CDC’s advisory committee on vaccines voted unanimously—15 to 0—to add the Covid-19 vaccine to the country’s childhood immunization schedule.

This schedule of vaccines—which includes the vaccines for measles, mumps and rubella (MMR); tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Tdap); and inactivated polio—serves as the roadmap of routinely recommended vaccines for children across the nation. That’s among the many reasons the committee’s vote is consequential: State and local governments turn to the CDC’s guidance when deciding public health policy. The CDC has yet to adopt this guidance, but likely will in the coming weeks.

More evidence Covid WAS engineered in a lab? Another explosive study dismisses natural origin theory

The coronavirus was likely made in a lab, according to the latest explosive study to shed light on the possible origins of the pandemic.

Researchers in the US and Germany studied Covid’s genome — the virus’ instruction manual — and compared it to dozens of previously detected coronaviruses.

‘Peculiar patterns’ were visible in the building blocks of the pandemic-causing virus, which they say are hallmark signs that it was manufactured. The team described it as having a ‘synthetic fingerprint’.

White Americans are now more likely to die from Covid than black Americans

White Americans are now more likely to die from Covid-19 than black Americans, according to new analysis of coronavirus figures.

The shift has surprised experts. An imbalance in death rates among the country’s racial groups has been a defining feature of the now-two-and-a-half-year-long pandemic, but it was not expected that the ratio would reverse.

From the start in early 2020, Covid-19 was killing more black people than white, a phenomenon experts put down to a disparity between the healthcare access available to the different groups, and the prevalence of underlying health conditions.

Is there really a COVID ‘nightmare variant’ spreading? Here’s what experts say

While the United States contends with the newly detected COVID omicron BQ.1 subvariants, another highly mutated strain of the coronavirus called XBB is tearing across Southeast Asia, where in some countries, it has caused the number of cases to double in a day.

Some more sensationalist reports have called XBB a “ nightmare variant ” due to its apparent ability to evade immunity and dampen some therapies. But infectious disease experts say it is too soon to jump to such broad conclusions.

Tam has lost trust of Canadians, say Conservative MPs

Canada’s top doctor does not have the trust of Canadians when it comes to COVID-19.

So say Commons health committee MPs, who told Dr. Theresa Tam, the country’s chief public health officer, it will not blindly follow the advice of her Public Health Agency, according to Blacklock’s Reporter .

To back that up, Conservative MP Matt Jeneroux (Edmonton Riverbend) read a string of Tam’s incorrect statements made about COVID-19 early in the pandemic into the record.

Tam commands Canadians get their bivalent booster shots

Canada’s chief public health officer said Tuesday that Canadians should get their dose of a recently authorized bivalent vaccine to stave off a fall resurgence of COVID-19 — a development that could prompt the return of some pandemic-related restrictions.

At an appearance before MPs on the Commons health committee, Tam said the decision to restore COVID measures — such as mandatory masking and school closures — will fall largely to the provinces and territories.

Boston University CREATES a new Covid strain that has an 80% kill rate …

US researchers have developed a new lethal Covid strain in a laboratory – echoing the type of experiments many fear started the pandemic.

The mutant variant — which is a hybrid of Omicron and the original Wuhan virus — killed 80 percent of mice infected with it at Boston University.

When a similar group of rodents were exposed to the standard Omicron strain, however, they all survived and only experienced ‘mild’ symptoms.
