Emergencies Act: What powers would it give Trudeau?

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to invoke the never-used Emergencies Act to give his government enhanced authority in response to the anti-vaccine mandate protests and blockades gripping Canada.

If enacted, the law will grant Mr Trudeau’s government extraordinary powers for 30 days – including the power to prohibit public assembly, travel and the use of specific property.

The speculation comes amid weeks of disruptive – and expensive – demonstrations against Covid-19 restrictions.

Some Premiers but not Doug Ford push back against triggering Emergencies Act in call with Trudeauscu

Doug was never Rob.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau consulted Canada’s premiers Monday about triggering the federal Emergencies Act to deal with blockades jamming border crossings and the nation’s capital, but faced push back from some First Ministers who were concerned about invoking sweeping powers.

Mr. Trudeau briefed the premiers about the options Ottawa is considering, including the never-used Emergencies Act. Alberta Premier Jason Kenney strongly objected as did Saskatchewan’s Scott Moe and Quebec Premier François Legault, according to two provincial sources.

… One of the sources said Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey were supportive but other premiers wanted to ensure that any response was proportional and worried about emboldening angry protesters.

All Junior needs is Dougie for Ontario alone to be hit.

Mounties seize guns and arrest 11 protesters at border blockade in Alberta

Mounties said in a release Monday that they became aware of a small organized group of Mounties within the larger protest at Coutts.

Alberta RCMP have arrested 11 people after searching three trailers and finding weapons at a protest against pandemic restrictions near the main U.S. border crossing in southern Alberta.

Mounties said in a release Monday that they became aware of a small organized group within the larger protest at Coutts.

They say they had information that the group had access to a cache of firearms and ammunition. Officers seized long guns, handguns, multiple sets of body armour, a machete, a large quantity of ammunition and high-capacity firearm magazines.

Media ‘Predictably Silent’ on Communist Flags Carried at Pro-Lockdown Protests: Jason Kenney

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney says the “media has been predictably silent” on the display of communist signs at pro-lockdown counter-protests in Ottawa, drawing a contrast to the wide condemnation of Nazi symbols that appeared in isolated incidents during the trucker protests, which Kenney said he had called on convoy organizers to disassociate themselves with.

“Two weeks ago I called on convoy organizers to disassociate themselves from symbols of hatred displayed by a small number of people. They did so,” Kenney wrote in a post on Twitter on Feb. 12.

“Today pro-lockdown counter protestors displayed Communist flags & signs in Ottawa, but the media has been predictably silent about it.”

No one should need reminding that Communism is the ideology behind the largest mass slaughters of the 20th century.

No one should need reminding that the chattering class routinely lies.

Bottom line: The membership of Canada’s public service union predator class in Ottawa are distressed at coming face to face with the proles they financially rape to sustain their privileged lifestyles. That’s the reason for invoking the “Emergencies Act.” They would have you disappeared if they could.

Canada truck convoy donor names leak after reported hack of GiveSendGo

A leak site says it has been given reams of data about the donors to the Canadian anti-vaccine mandate truckers after the fundraising platform popular with supporters of the movement allegedly suffered a hack.

Distributed Denial of Secrets announced on its website that it had 30 megabytes of donor information from Christian fundraising site GiveSendGo, including names, email addresses, zip codes, and internet protocol addresses.

At the same time, GiveSendGo appeared to be offline. Visitors to the website were met with the message that it was under maintenance and “we will be back very soon.” Messages seeking comment from the site’s operators were not immediately returned.

Canadian police response under spotlight following Ambassador Bridge clearing

As a six-day old blockade of North America’s busiest trade corridor ended on Sunday, Canadians voiced questions on policing tactics used to quell the demonstrations in the border city of Windsor and in Ottawa where protests entered a third week.

The “Freedom Convoy” protests, started by Canadian truckers opposing a vaccinate-or-quarantine mandate for cross-border drivers, have turned into a rallying point for people opposing the policies of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau‘s government, covering everything from pandemic restrictions to a carbon tax.

The “Defund Police” set are demanding a tougher police response. Go figure.

Ontario reports 1,765 new Covid cases … and Two-thirds of Canadians ready to drop COVID-19 restrictions

Ontario reports 1,765 new Covid cases … and Two-thirds of Canadians ready to drop COVID-19 restrictions

Number of people in ICU with COVID-19 dips below 400 for first time in more than a month

The number of people being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units has dipped below 400 for the first time in more than a month, just as the province announces plans to lift most remaining public health restrictions.

The Ministry of Health says that there were 1,369 people in hospital with COVID-19 as of Sunday, including 394 in the ICU.

The number is likely an undercount as some hospitals don’t upload data over the weekend but it still a marked decline from this time last week when 2,155 people were in hospital with COVID-19, including 486 in intensive care.

Two-thirds of Canadians ready to drop COVID-19 restrictions

Two-thirds of Canadians believe it’s time to drop COVID-19 restrictions and begin living with the virus, according to a new poll.

The survey, conducted by Maru Public Opinion for Postmedia, revealed that 64 per cent of respondents believe that unless hospitals and intensive care units are affected by a sudden surge of COVID-19 patients that compromises the care of other people, governments should lift pandemic restrictions.

Ontario moving to next phase of COVID-19 reopening plan on Feb. 17, will lift vaccine passport in March

Ontario will be moving to the next step of its COVID-19 reopening plan on Thursday, four days ahead of schedule, and will lift proof of vaccination requirements at the beginning of March.

Speaking at a news conference Monday morning, Premier Doug Ford said the decision was made based on recommendations from the province’s chief medical officer of health.

“Given how well Ontario has done in the Omicron wave we are able to fast track our reopening plan,” Ford said in a statement.

Trudeauscu to invoke “Emergencies Act” says state propaganda organ CBC

Update CBC says Trudeauscu invoking “Emergencies Act”

Blair described the attitude around invoking the Emergencies Act, which has never been implemented before, as “appropriate caution” rather than “reticence.”

The law gives the federal government carte blanche to cope with a crisis.

The legislation, which replaced the War Measures Act, defines a national emergency as a temporary “urgent and critical situation” that “seriously endangers the lives, health or safety of Canadians and is of such proportions or nature as to exceed the capacity or authority of a province to deal with it.”

This government is done. Canada has begun to resemble the old Soviet Union just before the wall came down. But their dictators were less egomaniacal than Junior.

Maxime Bernier: Will the Freedom Convoy save Canada?

A press conference was held at the Marriott Hotel not only by Maxime Bernier, but also by scientists, doctors, truckers, and others who joined to shed light on the current situation.

I had time to ask Maxime Bernier a few questions. It was nice to see that not only the mainstream media were present, but also independent journalists, which created a certain debate in the place.

The propaganda war on the Canadian truckers

By now, most Americans have heard of the truckers’ actions happening north of the border. Based on lurid descriptions of the protests from the US media, they could be forgiven for thinking these protesters are a small bunch of nasty thugs and Nazis who must be put down immediately. Indeed, it seems American reporters and commentators have decided to project all of their hatred of Trumpists and deplorable workers generally on to the Canadian truckers.

‘Health nightmare’: Dr. Robert Malone spotlights study on mRNA spike protein

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention assures Americans that the mRNA and the spike protein it produces in COVID-19 vaccines to create an immune response “don’t last long in the body.”

On its website, the agency states: “Our cells break down mRNA and get rid of it within a few days after vaccination. Scientists estimate that the spike protein, like other proteins our bodies create, may stay in the body up to a few weeks.”

However, a new peer-reviewed study by researchers at Stanford University finds that the spike protein created by the COVID vaccines remains in the body much longer than believed and at levels higher than those of severely ill COVID-19 patients.

The CDC Data Nobody Is Talking About Raises Urgent Questions for Bureaucrats

Some of us are old enough to remember when Dr. Anthony Fauci told the nation that “herd immunity” may require 90% of Americans to receive COVID-19 vaccinations. First, that is a complete revision of the meaning of herd immunity since it is not a static concept. Second, while it may have been a legitimate goal to achieve near-zero COVID-19, all it meant was that 90% of the population needed to have an effective immune response to COVID-19. To date, Fauci, the CDC, and the rest of the health agency bureaucrats have defined this response as having detectable circulating antibodies.
