Federal government won’t budge on vaccine mandate for truckers as convoy heads for Ottawa

In an interview with CBC’s Power & Politics, Alghabra said the government is not interested in alternatives like rapid testing for unvaccinated truckers. He said truckers and the wider industry have had months to prepare for the new regulations and drivers must now get the shot or stop driving over the border.

An estimated 35,000 people. many holding hand-made signs, showed up in Washington, D.C.. on Sunday for a “Defeat the Mandates” rally.

The peaceful protest, which started at the Washington Monument and culminated at the Lincoln Memorial, featured speakers such as mRNA inventor Dr. Robert Malone, Dr. Peter McCullough, other doctors in white lab coats (who are perhaps risking their careers), members of the clergy, and controversial activist and Fauci foe Robert Kennedy Jr.

Where’s the pandemic exit strategy?

Ontario’s new reopening roadmap has no projected end for mask mandates or vaccine passports. In Alberta, Premier Jason Kenney has not said anything more specific than “soon” when asked how long he plans to keep vaccine passports and mask mandates in place. True North’s Andrew Lawton says it’s clear there’s no exit strategy for pandemic restrictions in most of Canada, which is bad news for those of us unwilling to adopt the new normal.

If You Thought the Supply Chain Crisis Was Bad Enough, DHS Could Make It Worse

The regulations state that anyone who enters a port or ferry terminal who is not a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident must attest to his or her vaccination status, provide proof of vaccination, and provide “a valid Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI)-compliant document, such as a valid passport, Trusted Traveler Program card, or Enhanced Tribal Card,” along with any other documents that U.S. Customs and Border Protection requests.

This may sound reasonable and fair, but the new regulations will exacerbate the supply chain crisis that has already made American life more difficult and contributed to inflation.

US Vaccine Mandate on Freight Drivers Coming From Canada May Worsen Auto Supply Chain Shortage

The U.S. mandate, announced in October, requires all essential foreign travelers, including truck drivers, who cross U.S. land borders to be fully vaccinated. Essential nonresident travelers had been able to enter the U.S. during the pandemic regardless of their vaccination status, in part so as not to disrupt trade and to give them more time to get vaccinated.
