The persecution of ‘the plebs’

Not so long ago we went to politicians for politics and comedians for comedy. Today, like many others, I watch politicians for amusement and listen to comedians for their political insights.

Whenever I want cheering up, I watch Kamala Harris riffing on a theme of her choice, or sometimes a Labour politician trying to explain why a woman can have a penis. By contrast Joe Rogan analyses political questions better than any of them, as does Noam Dworman, of New York’s Comedy Cellar.

Sentencing Hearing Set for Coutts Protesters Convicted of Mischief, Weapons Charges

Two men convicted of mischief at the Coutts, Alta., border blockade are to learn their sentences later this month.

On Aug. 2, a jury also found Anthony Olienick and Chris Carbert guilty of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and Olienick was convicted of possessing a pipe bomb. But they were acquitted of the more serious charge of conspiring to murder police officers.

In Lethbridge Court of King’s Bench on Monday, Crown prosecutor Steven Johnston and defence lawyer Katherin Beyak agreed the sentencing hearing would begin Aug. 26.

The Sun Sets on Britain

The government of one of world’s greatest countries has decided its citizens are not worth protecting.

Along time ago in Baltimore, I sat outside an Immigration office with my pal, Tom Welsh, ready to answer questions about my worthiness for American citizenship. Because of my mother’s international bank job, I’d spent 20 years since arriving from Cuba as a U.S. resident rather than a citizen. Now a young adult, I looked forward to my entry into the winner’s circle. Tom was there to testify ahead of me that I deserved the high honor. Being slightly less conservative than me, he and I got into a heated political argument. When the Immigration woman came out and called his name, Tom glanced at me and said, “I don’t know now … ”

Dhimmi Britain Sinks into Authoritarianism, Death to Free Speech

Barely a month after the elections, and the new Labour Party government is dragging Britain into serious civil conflict, while destroying the preciously little that remains of British freedoms, especially freedom of speech.

The teenage son of a Rwandan migrant family stabbed three little girls to death at a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop in Southport, a city near Liverpool, on July 29. The murders triggered protests and riots by Britons who have apparently had enough.

The UK descends into dystopian levels of censorship

“Think before you post.”

That’s the chilling message that was just posted from social media accounts affiliated with the United Kingdom’s government. Amid the riots and civil unrest in the streets of Britain that were initially sparked by anti-immigration protesters, the posts warned citizens not directly involved in the uprisings that they too could face arrest even just for their speech.

It’s justice, not revenge: top prosecutor warns rioters could get ten years

The top prosecutor in England and Wales has warned that hundreds more people involved in the riots that have swept the country will be hauled before the courts in the coming days, with the most serious offenders facing up to ten years in jail.

Stephen Parkinson, the director of public prosecutions, said the number of charging decisions is expected to soar with a “new phase” of cases being brought by police.

Many of those charged so far have been prosecuted for violent disorder, which carries a maximum sentence of five years. However, Parkinson said the more serious offence of rioting — which carries up to a ten-year penalty — was now under consideration.

Jordan Peterson: I will see this contemptible ‘re-education’ process through to its absurd end

On Thursday, my attempt to defend myself against the ideologues and petty tyrants that now occupy so many positions of authority in Canada came to an end — or I finally got what I deserve, due to my incautious verbal utterances, depending on your stance. I am (still) a licensed psychologist in Ontario, and was once a full professor of psychology at the University of Toronto. Back in 2016, both of those occupations basically came to an end, when I had the temerity to object to the idiot legislation passed by our jackanapes prime minister, Justin Trudeau, the worst leader Canada has ever had, and a contender for the worst in the western world. His moralizing compatriots decided at the time that it was a good idea to rejig the very definition of sex — what could go wrong with that? — and to simultaneously compel everyone to accept that redesignation, on pain of law.

The Counter-Riot Has Only Just Begun

The UK establishment is interested not just in clearing the streets of rioters, but clearing the political battlefield of opposition views.

We have witnessed two types of rioting here in the UK since three little girls were murdered in the northern English town of Southport on July 29th by the son of Rwandan immigrants.

There have been physical riots in assorted towns and cities; local outbursts of brick-chucking violent unrest involving clashes with police, and some reprehensible attacks on hostels holding migrants or mosques. These riots pose an immediate problem of public order; they may have abated, at least for now.

And then there is the national counter-riot of political prejudice staged by the Labour government, the mainstream media, and the rest of the liberal establishment, left-handedly hurling brickbats at everybody from Nigel Farage to Elon Musk.

Biden-Harris admin colluded with big tech, Trudeau to undermine Canadian freedom truckers

Explosive Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) documents released to the Gun Owners of America (GOA), obtained by The Post Millennial, reveal how the Biden administration colluded with social media and conspired with the Trudeau government to deplatform and censor the protesting truckers of Canada’s Freedom Convoy in 2022.

The FOIA request was filed by the GOA with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to see if they were being subject to any unwanted federal surveillance. The documents released by DHS and first posted by Ammoland Shooting Sports News revealed this interesting tidbit in an email from Samantha Vinograd to Robert Silvers.

A Political Trial Unfolds in Canada—and the Coutts Four Are Exonerated

Justin Trudeau’s political prisoners have officially been exonerated. A jury in Lethbridge, Alberta found the remaining two defendants of the Coutts Four, Tony Olienick and Chris Carbert, not guilty. The men had been charged with conspiracy to murder charges as a result of their participation in the non-violent Truckers Freedom Convoy in February 2022, and they had been held in custody ever since, denied bail in spite of no history of violence or criminal records.

Their 30-month incarceration and subsequent legal victory are not just the tale of authoritarian overreach by the Trudeau administration. They tell the story of the wider political battle between the professional managerial class throughout the West and the working class over whom they rule—and the cost to four working-class men of fighting back.

Secretive Covid-era ‘spy’ agency brought in to monitor social media during riots

A secretive government agency used to “spy on” anti-lockdown campaigners during the Covid pandemic has been deployed to monitor social media amid the riots, The Telegraph has learnt.

The Counter Disinformation Unit (CDU), now rebranded as the National Security Online Information Team (NSOIT), has been given the task just months after MPs called for an independent review of its activities.

Campaigners have expressed concern that NSOIT is playing a central role in the riots response despite outstanding questions over whether it is fit for purpose.

Labrador man denied long-sought hearing about his detainment for a tweet

A Labrador man has lost his bid for a long-sought public hearing about his detainment by police in 2015 at a mental health hospital for a post he made on social media.

Andrew Abbass has alleged for years that his detention by members of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary at a western Newfoundland hospital was illegal, and he has fought for a hearing that would examine the circumstances of his arrest.

In a decision dated Thursday, an adjudicator with the force’s public complaints commission said such a hearing would be “desirable” but ruled that Abbass did not file his complaint soon enough.

“How about this Premier of N.L. I’m going to bring down Confederation and have politicians executed,” one of Abbass’s tweets said. “Ready to have me shot, coward?”

Doesn’t seem an unreasonable thing to say about Trudeau.

Lawyers for Coutts border blockade defendants say Crown overreached with conspiracy to murder charges

Both defence lawyers in the Coutts border blockade trial said they believe the Crown overcharged their clients and a legal expert agrees with them.

Following the late-night Friday acquittal of her client Chris Carbert, on charges of conspiracy to murder RCMP officers, counsel Katherin Beyak said the jury got it right.

“The jury put in a lot of hard work and came to the right decision on the (conspiracy to commit) murder charge,” said Beyak. “I think it was an overcharge to begin with and I’m glad they came back with the verdict they did.”
