At least 4 dead, 13 wounded in shooting attack on Russian synagogue, Orthodox church

Unknown gunmen fired automatic weapons at a synagogue and Orthodox church in Dagestan, Russia at 6 PM on Sunday, local time, a Russian Interior Ministry official told TASS.

Two police officers were reportedly killed alongside a security guard and priest in the attack and an additional 13 were wounded, according to Reuters.

Dagestan Women Confront Police in Mass Demonstration Against Putin’s Draft

Videos circulating on social media show female protesters in Russia’s Dagestan region demonstrating against the military’s effort to mobilize Russian citizens for the war in Ukraine.

The protesting comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “partial mobilization” effort last week amid the country’s invasion of its Eastern European neighbor that began in late February, ordering an additional 300,000 reservists with military training to fight in the conflict.

Russian agents foil ‘Islamic State’ terror attack

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said Saturday it had prevented an attack by a terrorist group with links to the Islamic State (IS) armed group.

The FSB said it had arrested four people who were set to carry out the offensive in the troubled southern republic of Dagestan.

“Members of the group planned to detonate an explosive close to an administrative building belonging to security services, followed by an armed attack against interior ministry employees in the city of Makhachkala,” the FSB said in a statement.
