Sorry Bryan Adams, no one has a ‘favourite’ Canadian artist anymore

For a country that has taken such pains to emphasize the Canadianness of its homegrown artists, a new poll has some surprising findings

The idea of having a favourite Canadian artist is becoming a quaint anachronism, according to the head of the Association for Canadian Studies.

Even when pressed to name their favourite Canadian musical artist, about half say they do not have one, and those who do are all over the place. Bryan Adams tops the list at five per cent, followed by Drake, Shania Twain and Michael Bublé at three per cent, then Céline Dion, Justin Bieber, the Tragically Hip and Gordon Lightfoot at two per cent.

CanCon serves only to subsidize the sort of nagging left-wing mediocrities who make immediately ignored CBC Top Ten Lists.

That’s to be expected when government gatekeeping for the arts consists of one group of toxic leftists handing out our money to their equally toxic friends.

But perhaps the single greatest factor contributing to our cultural disconnect is that Canada is no longer a nation held together by common bonds.

Face it we are balkanized to the point of failed state status because the rot of multiculturalism and destructive immigration policy has hollowed out the culture.

I do not hear a stricken nation crying out for more government subsidized DEI pap.

I can’t help but laugh when I think back on the public vigils held for the late Gord Downie.  They were far more “white” than any Rob Ford event, far more white than the Trucker protest in fact. Media failed to pick up on that for some reason.

I wonder if anyone attending a Downie vigil had their bank account frozen?

Bell’s defence for firing only Black radio host says he showed disdain for diversity initiatives

Bell Media Inc. defends firing its only full-time Black talk radio host by saying Jamil Jivani showed disdain for the media giant’s diversity initiatives, was resistant and combative with management, aired anti-vaccination views, and didn’t get strong enough ratings.

Military sounding alarm over recruiting problems as traditional pool of young, white males mysteriously decides not to enlist

Military sounding alarm over recruiting problems as Canadians steer clear

OTTAWA — The Canadian Armed Forces is sounding the alarm over a severe shortage of recruits to fill thousands of vacant positions, with the shortfall so bad that senior officers are now calling it a crisis.

… Brodie was unable to say whether the push for diversity is hurting more than helping, at least in terms of sheer numbers, by turning off the military’s traditional recruiting pool: young, white men.

“We can’t measure the impact of that right now. It’s too early,” she said. “But to be very, very clear … we want suitable candidates, and suitable candidates are those that first and foremost reflect the values of the Canadian Armed Forces.”

A shortage of white males volunteering to serve? Why could that be?

Maybe the government and schools should stop denigrating their heritage and calling them genocidal racists for starters.  After all their forebears have done most of the building, fighting and dying for this country since 1867.

Does anyone recall the reluctance of Quebecers to fight in “English” wars?

Well now Canada has many little Quebec’s.

I believe the government’s reckless mass immigration policy has succeeded in turning Canada into a balkanized hodgepodge of disconnected tribes with greater loyalty to their “homelands” than Canada. Khalistan anyone? China anyone? Tamil Tigers anyone? Palestine anyone? I can’t see much incentive for a white male to risk his life for that.

We are not as Trudeau claimed the world’s first “Post – National State”, we are the world’s first “Fifth Columnist State.”

If they’re looking for recruits that reflect the values of the Canadian Armed Forces I hear a teacher in Oakville may be looking for a new career. Does CAF do custom uniform fittings?

I Just Got Done with LGBTQ+ and Diversity and Inclusion Training

I work nights for a government contractor on a federal base. Tonight we had a mandatory training that I just got out of a couple of hours ago. It has become clear that if you want to hold a job that isn’t your own small business, or at another small business owned by like-minded people, then your views aren’t welcome if you hold any kind of traditional view regarding sexuality, gender, society, and nationhood. Is this the “free market?” It doesn’t feel free. It feels like oppression. The same way you couldn’t participate in Soviet society if you didn’t conform to the state religion is how we are now. We aren’t a free country. Hell, if you own your own small business, and make your views even minimally known against the queer religion of the US government, then you aren’t safe either. Good luck staying open or staving off audits and indictments and lawsuits.
