Facing Dry Year, CA State Water Board is Draining California Reservoirs

“In the last 14 days, 90% of Delta inflow went to sea. It’s equal to a year’s supply of water for 1 million people.
#ManMadeDrought,” Central Valley farmer Kristi Diener said.

Diener, a California water expert and farmer, has been warning steadily that water is unnecessarily being let out to sea as the state faces a normal dry year.

Then They Came For the Balloons

The Department of Environment in an educational program for schoolchildren recommends kids avoid party balloons as pollutants. Cabinet proposes to list plastic as toxic under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act: “You are never too young or too old to start taking climate action.”

While virtually all toys on the market, whether foreign or domestic brands, are made in China, factories making foreign brands are assumed to abide by more rigorous standards to screen out lead paint and other harmful materials.

France Is Making Ecocide Illegal, But What Does That Mean?

Damaging the environment is set to become illegal in France, punishable by fines of up to €4.5 million and up to 10 years in prison.

A citizens’ assembly included criminalising ‘ecocide’ in its recommendations for the government earlier this year. A group of 150 randomly selected French citizens voted on proposals for combatting the climate crisis and among the proposals was a suggestion to make ‘ecocide’ (extensive damage to ecosystems) an offence punishable by law.
