Google search results elevate China’s narratives on COVID origins, human rights record: Study

Google search engines’ results are boosting China’s preferred narratives about COVID-19’s origins and human rights abuses, according to a new study from the Brookings Institution and the Alliance for Securing Democracy.

The study found Google News and YouTube were far more likely to spread Chinese state-run media than Google’s main search engine in response to queries about COVID-19 and Xinjiang, a northwestern province in China and the location of alleged human rights abuses against Uyghurs and other ethnic minorities.

Google Introduces Prompts to Make Sure You Write Like a Leftist

Can Elon Musk buy Google?

Elon Musk has bought Twitter amid promises to make the platform more hospitable to the freedom of speech, but perhaps not coincidentally, both former president Barack Obama and never-president Hillary Clinton have recently come out strongly in favor of speech restrictions. It’s clear that the powerful forces that want to silence political and cultural dissent in this country today, and make it impossible for anything but the Left’s favored positions, are not giving up, Elon Musk or no Elon Musk. Google has added a feature to Google Docs that will nudge writers toward using language that is more “inclusive,” that is, more in line with Leftist sensibilities.

Google Strong-Arms Smaller Competitor With Data Demands

Lawmakers call the moves anti-competitive behavior

In a move that lawmakers on both sides of the aisle called anti-competitive, Google has announced it will remove its YouTube apps from TV streaming app Roku if Roku does not provide Google with special privileges.

At issue are demands made by Google that would change how Roku operates. The demands include a dedicated section of search results for YouTube—something no other Roku partner receives. Roku tells users searching for a movie where to watch it based on their streaming subscriptions; Google is pushing for some searches to route directly to YouTube, even if it means consumers would pay more. And Google wants Roku to provide the valuable search data it receives from users, a demand Roku calls a fundamental threat to business.

Be Careful What You Search: How Government and Big Tech are Covertly Spying on You

Big brother is watching. Granted, there are multiple ways government can track us. It’s no secret. Besides a super-secret FISA court that’s granted spy warrants on innocent Americans in recent years, you might want to be careful what you search for on Google. The search engine is working secretly with the government on “keyword warrants.” It’s essentially spying. The Feds have ordered them to track and disclose data on persons who search certain terms.
