On Tuesday’s Amanpour & Co., the PBS show not only did its part to spread anti-gun misinformation, but also to demonize Republicans who dispute the value of more gun control. Host Christiane Amanpour and her guests made several blatantly false claims about the significance of background checks and the prevalence of so-called “assault weapons.” She also allowed one of her guests to sneer that Republicans “don’t have a conscience” when it comes to guns.
Gun Rights
Can a government ‘buyback’ get these guns out of Canadians’ hands? Why some owners say they’re not selling
Cassy Parker owns many guns.
One that is near and dear to her heart is her Ruger Mini-14 Ranch rifle, a lightweight, semi-automatic gun, which her husband and five kids got her a couple of years ago for Mother’s Day.
Parker, who co-owns a gun shop called K.K.S. Tactical Supplies in a small strip mall in Prince George in northern British Columbia, says she has used her Ruger both for recreation and as part of her community-sanctioned “predator-management” efforts — killing some of the wolves and coyotes that prey on livestock animals, such as calves, and wildlife, including caribou, deer and moose.
MSNBC Spreads Anti-Gun Propaganda While Smearing Conservatives
On Wednesday afternoon, MSNBC host Katy Tur used her show to to misinform viewers about gun violence while wrongly accusing gun rights advocates of spreading “lies.”
After alluding to some of the gun control laws that have been passed in Colorado in the past decade, Tur allowed Colorado Democratic State Senator Rhonda Fields to complain that her state’s residents could still get guns from Wyoming or Utah without offering any evidence that this has happened in any recent shooting.
White House Confirms Biden Will Sign Gun Control Executive Orders
White House press secretary Jen Psaki confirmed Friday that President Joe Biden intends to sign executive orders instituting increased gun control.
“Yes,” Psaki flatly stated in response to a question on the subject during Friday’s press briefing. “I can’t give you an exact time frame in part, because they have to go through a review process, which is something that we do from here.”
Getting the Facts Straight on the ‘Boulder Gun Ban’

After another tragic mass shooting, the Left peddles its usual anti-gun propaganda, facts be damned.
Even in a country full of politicians, activists, and pundits who mislead and obfuscate, few public policy conversations come with more heat and less light than those surrounding “gun control.” Unsurprisingly, this is especially true during the emotion and trauma following a horrific event such as Monday’s massacre at the King Soopers supermarket on Table Mesa Road in Boulder, Colorado.
US Appeals Court Rules States May Restrict People From Openly Carrying Guns in Public
An appeals court on Wednesday ruled that states may restrict people from openly carrying firearms in public—upholding a Hawaii gun regulation that bans residents from openly carrying guns without a license.
The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 7-4 that restrictions on carrying guns in public except for hunting do not violate the Second Amendment’s right to bear arms.
Trudeau’s gun-control legislation all smoke and mirrors
I have been a legal, responsible gun owner since my early teens.
I’m a hunter, not a criminal, and certainly not the cause of gun crime.
Opponents of gun control bill are denouncing Trudeau and no longer want him at Polytechnique commemorations
MONTREAL — Survivors, family members of the victims of the 1989 massacre at Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal and current students are warning Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that they will never again allow him to stand with them at the annual commemorations of the shooting if he allows his government’s proposed gun control bill C-21 to pass.
The dozens of signatories, including several family members of the 14 young women murdered on Dec. 6, 1989, write in a letter (posted below) to the prime minister that his dismal bill gives the appearance of fulfilling his election commitments, but does nothing to address them.
Interesting headline. Looks good on him.
BONOKOSKI: Trudeau government’s bogus tough on guns stance
Disguised as a way to hit back at “systemic racism in Canada,” the Trudeau Liberals are moving to repeal legislation regarding the implementation of mandatory minimum sentences.
The Liberals have a hate-on for this Stephen Harper law.
Trudeau government sets sights on legal gunowners—while ignoring criminals
Last week, the Trudeau government introduced Bill C-21, which would dramatically expand police powers in Canada. Prime Minister Trudeau claims the legislation will combat gun violence and keep communities safe, but none of the bill’s provisions directly address gun violence or violent crime.
Instead, the bill demonizes legal firearms owners, who are not the problem, invents a variety of new administrative crimes and creates a “red flag” law that allows police to search and seize property (with a court order) on the grounds that a potentially dangerous individual has a firearm. Of course, the “red flag” provision is not new. Such a provision already exists and has for 20 years. Concerned individuals can dial 911 or medical doctors can call the Chief Firearms Officer.
Biden Gun Control Plan Would ‘Criminalize’ up to 105 Million People: Gun-rights Group
A gun-rights organization said that President Joe Biden’s gun control proposal would potentially make about 105 million law-abiding gun owners into criminals.
“While we can agree that there are several ‘common sense’ and long overdue changes needed to our nation’s gun laws, we firmly believe that the path forward should be focused on supporting and protecting responsible, law-abiding Americans—not criminalizing and punishing them,” the U.S. Concealed Carry Association said in a letter to Biden this week.
GUNTER: Let me take back my compliment over the Liberal gun bill
No, I’m not making this up.
In the gun control legislation the federal Liberals introduced Thursday, they are seeking to outlaw airsofts and pellet guns.
GOLDSTEIN: Trudeau knows handgun ban won’t work, Blair knows what will
The problem with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s proposed handgun ban is that it won’t work and his government knows it.
A 2018 engagement paper by Public Safety Canada, “Reducing Violent Crime: A Dialogue on Handguns and Assault Weapons,” explained why it will be ineffective:
“The vast majority of owners of handguns and of other firearms in Canada lawfully abide by requirements, and most gun crimes are not committed with legally-owned firearms…”
Armed Good Samaritans Stop Shooting Spree That Left 3 Dead
Several armed bystanders successfully stopped a shooting spree that left three dead, including the suspect, in a New Orleans suburb.
The shooting happened at the Jefferson Gun Outlet in the suburb of Metairie, Louisiana, around 2:50 p.m., according to a release from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Police chiefs won’t back Trudeau handgun ban
The Canadian Association of Police Chiefs says they will not support Justin Trudeau’s proposal to allow cities to ban handguns.
The head of the organization, Vancouver police chief Adam Palmer, said current firearms legislation are already strong enough.
Alberta justice minister blasts feds’ attempt to repeal mandatory minimum sentences for some firearms offences
For the second time in a week, the federal government has tabled legislation that has prompted criticism from Alberta’s justice minister about Ottawa’s approach to firearms.
On Thursday, Justice Minister Kaycee Madu issued a statement on the Liberal government’s introduction of Bill C-22, which seeks to repeal mandatory minimum penalties for drug offences and some gun-related crimes. The federal government argues the minimum penalties aren’t effective and unfairly impact Indigenous and Black offenders.
