The ‘Better’ Civilians of Gaza

“The crimes committed by the Germans are horrible and one hears on every corner of the misery and losses they have intentionally brought over the peoples. The strangest thing is that even the better people among the Germans are not conscious of their heavy responsibility for all these crimes committed by the government they have chosen themselves, and that the outside world is rather inclined to forget about it.”

Those words were written by Albert Einstein on September 16, 1945, shortly after the end of World War II, in a letter I was fortunate enough to acquire.

Google fires 28 employees involved in sit-in protest over $1.2B Israel contract

Google has fired 28 employees over their participation in a 10-hour sit-in at the search giant’s offices in New York and Sunnyvale, California, to protest the company’s business ties with the Israel government, The Post has learned.

The pro-Palestinian staffers — who had donned traditional Arab headscarves as they stormed and occupied the office of a top executive in California on Tuesday — were terminated late Wednesday after an internal investigation, Google vice president of global security Chris Rackow said in a companywide memo.

I wonder how many ever thought job loss was the price of their Hamas support?

Israel shelved Iran strike plans in exchange for US support of Rafah operation—report

The U.S. has agreed to back an Israeli operation in Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah in exchange for forgoing a major strike on Iran, according to Israeli media.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu backtracked on a pre-approved military response to Iran’s massive drone and missile attack due to pressure by U.S. President Joe Biden, Israel’s Kan public broadcaster reported Wednesday.

Biden reportedly told Netanyahu during a phone call on Saturday that Washington would not participate in nor support an Israeli retaliatory attack.

Antisemitism in Dearborn, Past and Present

My hometown is in the news every day. I hear it on the radio, see it on television and read about it in print. It’s never good. Dearborn, Mich., is now known as the place where protesters chant “Death to Israel, Death to America.” It’s the city that President Biden is reportedly trying to placate ahead of the election as he cobbles together a Mideast policy that doesn’t undermine our Israeli ally.

It wasn’t always like this. When I was growing up between the 1950s and 1970s, Dearborn was known for Ford Motor Co., then the second biggest carmaker in the world, whose headquarters was four miles away from my family’s house. Its iconic brand of vehicles synonymous with American car culture—the muscular Mustang, the stylish Thunderbird, the rugged F-150 truck—defined our radiant town.

Toward a Jihadist Caliphate

On February 9, 2024, Imam Sheikh Abdul Salam Zoud at the Masjid As-Sunnah Lakemba in Sydney, Australia, made the following live-streamed pronouncement:

“There is no solution other than Jihad which continues until Judgement Day. The Prophet Muhammad, the Righteous Caliphs – none of them conquered the world by peaceful means. They conquered it through Jihad. The goal of Jihad for the sake of Allah is not to kill people and take over their lands. Rather, the goal of Jihad is to remove obstacles before the spreading and rule of Islam.”

He also allegedly attempted to murder one of his housemates, Javed Nouri, 31, who is a Christian convert.

Is there anything stopping Iran building nuclear weapons?

Nuclear weapons were once deemed un-Islamic by Iran’s supreme leader, who went as far as issuing a fatwa against their production.

But a lot has changed since the 1990s, and although Ayatollah Ali Khamenei still sits atop of the regime, nuclear arms appear to be far from taboo.

Tehran, of course, insists it has no plans to weaponise its nuclear programme, which it claims is for civilian purposes only.

IDF has decided on type, not timing, of counter-strike on Iran

The IDF has decided how it will counter-strike Iran and its proxies but has not yet settled on the timing; multiple sources told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.

Because the timing is still variable and because of all the necessary complex preparations, the current decision could change.

However, the very development of a decision shows the severity and determination of Israel’s leadership to strike back, though all indications are that Jerusalem still seeks to tamp down the attack to avoid spiraling into a regional war.

Barbara Kay: Ottawa Should Support Canadian Muslim Groups That Condemn Hamas, Instead of Funding Anti-Semitic Ones

… The study, titled “Six months after October 7th: An analysis of terror attack responses by Canada’s religious groups,” had its origins in author Rahim Mohamed’s shock at the “wave of public displays of religious intolerance—mostly targeting Jewish Canadians—that would have been unthinkable just days earlier.”

A senior fellow at the Aristotle Foundation and a National Post columnist, Mohamed undertook a careful analysis of post-Oct. 7 statements, both formal and informal, by Canada’s leading Muslim organizations. From his findings, he concluded that interfaith relations in Canada are arguably “even worse than the headlines would suggest; indicating that it is not just a small, vocal minority who’s turned against Canada’s Jewish community, but in fact much of the Muslim community’s leadership.”

No offense but the good guys are not exactly legion and Justin funds votes.

‘YOU CAN’T SEE IT:’ Michael Moore warns Joe Biden his support for Israel will cost him presidency

Activist-filmmaker Michael Moore warned that President Joe Biden’s support of Israel in the country’s war with Hamas is costing him voters.

Speaking on his podcast Rumble with Michael Moore, he insisted that Biden would lose to Donald Trump — like Hillary Clinton did in 2016 — because voters will choose to stay home rather than cast ballots.

Christians Prefer Living in Israel, Not the Palestinian Authority

On the same day that US television personality Tucker Carlson interviewed a pastor from Bethlehem who falsely accused Israel of mistreating Christians, Israel’s University of Haifa announced the appointment of Professor Mona Maron as Rector. A Maronite Christian from the village of Isfiya, near Haifa, Maron has been a trailblazer for the integration and advancement of women in the sciences, particularly within the Arab community. She was the first Arab woman from her village to earn a doctoral degree and Israel’s first Arab professor of neuroscience.
