American Anti-War Activists Cheer for Iran’s War

CHICAGO — About 300 anti-war activists crowded into the basement of the Teamsters Union’s headquarters on Saturday to hear organizers from all over the country describe their plans to disrupt the Democratic National Convention this August. Joe Biden’s backing of Israel since Hamas’s October 7 attack has turned these left-wing radicals against their own party.

“It’s really inspiring to see that people are just as enthusiastic, and maybe even more enthusiastic, to march on the DNC as they are to march on the RNC,” says Omar Florez, a Milwaukee-based activist. “We can thank Genocide Joe and our movement for that.”

Canada must sanction Benjamin Netanyahu and his war cabinet … say usual Star types

The murder earlier this month by the Israeli military of Jacob Flickinger, a Canadian volunteer serving with the World Central Kitchen, the Canadian nationals trapped and at risk of being killed every day in Gaza, and families of Canadians approved for temporary resident visas but barred by Israel from exiting Gaza, all paint a stark reality of how close the unfolding genocide in Gaza is to Canadians.

The consequences extend to aid workers affiliated with Canadian charities — many of whom have been killed — as life-saving humanitarian aid, funded by Canadians, languishes at border crossings, denied entry by Israeli authorities.

A Turkish source says Biden green-lit Iran’s attack on Israel

Yesterday, Iran launched a ferocious onslaught against Israel. It was only because Israel has spent decades investing in infrastructure and training to defend herself that she didn’t suffer mass casualties and major damage to Jerusalem and her military installations. Biden immediately announced that Israel’s defense constituted a victory and told her he wouldn’t support a counterattack. Now, in a bizarre twist, the Jerusalem Post reports that, according to a Turkish report, Biden actually gave Iran the green light to attack Israel!

Will Netanyahu go rogue on Israel’s Iran response?

A small but disconcerting piece of history was made last night. In the early hours of Sunday, the Islamic Republic of Iran launched a mass strike on Israel. According to the Israelis, this consisted of 170 explosive drones, 30 cruise missiles, and 120 ballistics — significant indeed. Israel and its allies together shot most of these down, often before they reached Israeli airspace. The damage was limited. Casualties are minimal.

Israel calls on Canada to list Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps as terrorist group

Too late. Justin has already committed.

Israel’s ambassador to Canada is calling on Ottawa to list the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization, as the world grapples with the fallout of Iran’s aerial attack on Israel on Saturday.

In an interview Sunday on Rosemary Barton Live, Iddo Moed said there was no further evidence needed to justify the designation and that the move should be the first in a broader international response.

“The first initial step would be to designate the [IRGC] as a terrorist organization. That needs to happen now, it has to happen today,” Moed told CBC chief political correspondent Rosemary Barton.

A Very Unhappy Anniversary – A rally in Toronto for the hostages held by Hamas reflects political shifts for Canada’s Jews.

April 7 was the sixth month anniversary of the October 7 Hamas pogrom and the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas. For those who have been watching this war closely it was particularly disconcerting. It was on that day that the Netanyahu government announced that it was pulling most of its troops out of southern Gaza, a move that left a number of questions unanswered. Was this a harbinger of Bibi’s coalition succumbing to pressure from the Biden administration to end the war giving Hamas a victory? Was it a response to the recent violent demonstrations by the Israeli left in the guise of a demand to bring the hostages home but, like the prewar demonstrations against judicial reform, was actually meant to bring down the government?

The Destruction of Iran’s Terrorist Hub in Damascus Was Entirely Justified

The bombing of the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria was not, as the Iranians claim, simply an attack on a blameless diplomatic mission.

It was a carefully targeted strike on the headquarters of the expansive terrorist network that Tehran has established throughout the Middle East.

The real purpose of the Iranian consulate building, an adjunct of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus, was revealed when the Iranians themselves admitted that two senior commanders of the elite Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in the air strike, which has widely been attributed to the Israeli air force.

Joanna Baron: Canadian politicians have suddenly forgotten how to denounce protestors

This past weekend, downtown Ottawa was occupied by a huge crowd of protestors. They danced, shouted angry slogans, banged on drums and created a noisy, inconvenient disruption for local residents and businesses. They even set off smoke bombs, creating hazardous air quality for bystanders and law enforcement.

Sound a bit familiar? Yes, there were some obvious parallels with the Freedom Convoy. But there were also a couple of very big differences. There were many more frightening messages directed at fellow Canadians this time, including “All Zionists are racists” and “All Zionists are degenerates.”

Why did some Arab countries appear to help Israel?

Iran launched more than 300 drones and missiles at Israel on Saturday night in retaliation for a suspected Israeli attack on its embassy in Damascus at the beginning of April. As the missiles and slow-moving drones were heading toward Israel, Israel’s allies stepped in to help.

The US and UK air forces were involved in shooting down the aerial threats. France may also have been involved in patrolling the area, although it was unclear if the French shot down any projectiles.

But what got a lot of attention was the fact that the Jordanian air force also stepped in to help. Jordan opened up its airspace to Israeli and US planes, and also apparently shot down drones that violated its own airspace.

Rahim Mohamed: Iran’s attack on Israel was inevitable; Trudeau is on the wrong side of history

Iran launched its first full-scale military attack against Israel on Saturday, unleashing a barrage of missiles and drones on dozens of targets across the country. Sirens filled the air well into Sunday morning as Israel’s Iron Dome air defence system picked off the incoming projectiles one by one.

While certainly dramatic, the weekend’s developments shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody who has been watching the region’s politics closely since the Hamas-led Oct. 7 terror attacks in southern Israel.

Biden tells Netanyahu US will not engage in counteroffensive against Iran, calls Saturday a win for Israel: report

President Biden told Israeli Prime Minister that nothing of “value” was hit in Iran’s airborne attack Saturday and asserted American forces will not be participating in any offensive against Iran, according to a report.

The president called Israel’s defense during the attacks a win — telling Netanyahu Israel’s ability to intercept nearly all of the hundreds of missiles and drones showed its military superiority, a US official told CNN.

Biden also made it very clear that the US would not be engaging in any military offensive against the Islamic Republic, the senior official told the channel.

What was in wave of Iranian attacks and how were they thwarted?

For the first time ever, Iran has carried out strikes against Israeli territory.

In the middle of Saturday night, air raid alerts went off in Israel, residents were urged to seek shelter while explosions were heard as air defences were activated.

Interceptions lit up the night sky in several places across the country, while many drones and missiles were shot down by Israel’s allies before they reached Israeli territory.

At least nine countries were involved in the military escalation – with projectiles fired from Iran, Iraq, Syria and Yemen and downed by Israel, the US, the UK and France as well as Jordan.

The Mullahs are not loved but the IRGC is deeply embedded in society.

Trump says White House staff had to convince Biden not to release pre-recorded message on Israel and claims Iran would never have attacked if he was president

Donald Trump has claimed that White House staff had to convince President Biden not to release a pre-recorded message following attacks on Israel by Iran.

The former president added that if he was commander in chief ‘this would never have happened’ in a number of posts made to his Truth Social platform.

Trump said: ‘Biden’s handlers convinced him not to release his taped speech on Israel. He’ll now attempt to do it live.’
