‘Ceasefire Now’ People Are Angry at…Ceasefire

There is no angrier group of people in the West right now than the people who have been screaming about Israel committing a “genocide” and about the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Carney calls hostages release under Gaza peace deal ‘moment of profound relief’

Prime Minister Mark Carney is calling the release of hostages under a ceasefire deal in Gaza “a moment of profound relief” and is urging all parties to uphold the ceasefire agreement.

Carney travelled to Egypt Sunday to take part in the signing of a Middle East peace plan with other world leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump. Media were not notified of Carney’s trip before it had been confirmed through an update to his Sunday itinerary, about three hours before his plane was set to depart.

Fighting Erupts at Gaza as Hamas, Clans Turn Their Animosity for Israel Toward Each Other

While international negotiators finalize a hostage-prisoner exchange between Hamas and Israel, Gaza is anything but peaceful amid internecine fighting between Hamas and Palestinian clans that Hamas considers rivals for power or traitors to its cause.

Over the weekend, at least 19 and as many as 25 members of the Dughmush clan, a powerful, mafia-like family based in the eastern part of Gaza City, were reportedly murdered after its members clashed with Hamas leaders following the ceasefire agreement with Israel.

Gaza City clashes between Hamas and clan members leave 27 dead

At least 27 people have been killed in fierce clashes between Hamas security forces and armed members of the Dughmush family in Gaza City, in one of the most violent internal confrontations since the end of major Israeli operations in the enclave.

Masked Hamas gunmen exchanged fire with clan fighters near the city’s Jordanian hospital, witnesses said.

A senior official in the Hamas-run interior ministry said security units surrounded them and engaged in heavy fighting to detain them. The ministry said eight its members were killed in “an armed assault by a militia”.

Vivian Bercovici: I am in Israel. The country is vibrating with conflicting emotions

Sdrerot, Israel — Their appearance on this stage, after two years of unending agony, penetrated the soul of this country. They did not hide their compassion and empathy for the hostages, as well as Israelis and Palestinians. They acknowledged the carnage and spoke eloquently of their commitment to do everything possible to end it. Everywhere.

When Witkoff took the stage, he began by mentioning “Prime Minister Netanyahu.” For several minutes, many in the crowd booed and shouted, “Shame! Shame!”

Who are the released hostages? Trump addresses Israeli Knesset

The Israeli military says 20 living hostages have been released by Hamas and have returned to Israel. Until Monday, 48 hostages were still being held in Gaza, although some are believed to be dead.

All but one of the hostages were among the 251 people abducted during the Palestinian group’s attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023, during which about 1,200 other people were killed.

‘Long and painful nightmare finally over,’ Trump tells Israel’s parliament

US President Donald Trump has told cheering Israeli lawmakers that “the long and painful nightmare is finally over”, after helping to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.

During the first such address by a US president since 2008, Trump said the day would mark “the moment that everything began to change, and change very much for the better” in the Middle East.

Trump’s address to the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, comes on the day that the last 20 living hostages held in the Palestinian enclave were released by Hamas.

The Neurology of the Gaza Mobs

The increase in antisemitism has been alarming. Now that peace appears to be on the horizon it needs to be studied for what it really is. It has revealed a familiar but poorly understood aspect of human behavior. It is not so much a matter of hatred and evil as you might think. It’s a lot more complicated. It’s ugly, sure enough but so many of the mob seem to be nice normal people in other ways. Nice normal people, though, often are the ones that do the worst things. Certainly, they have been inflamed and insensate – that is what a mob is. But a mob is nothing without the participation of the people who will regret it later.

The Palestinian Campaign to Undermine Relations between Christians and Israel

From Taybe to Tucker Carlson, Palestinians are trying to drive a wedge between the Christian world and Israel, while Israel’s government appears to be asleep on guard duty.

In recent months, we have witnessed a well-timed campaign led by the Palestinian Authority, civil society organizations and anti-Israel Christian elements – some of them declared anti-Semitic – to undermine the relations between the State of Israel and Christian communities around the world, especially evangelical and pro-Israel Christians whose long-standing support for Israel is not self-evident.

Hamas ‘ready to relinquish control’ of Gaza but refuses to disarm

Tel Aviv – Trump as Cyrus The Great

But terror group refuses to disarm calling into question key points in US president’s peace deal

Hamas will relinquish control of Gaza but won’t disarm, a source close to the terror group’s negotiation committee said.

Israel is bracing to receive all 20 hostages as part of the initial deal to end the war, with the vice-president JD Vance saying they could be handed over “any moment now”.

Israel says the exchange will happen on Monday morning, when Donald Trump is due to arrive in Israel before flying to Egypt for a truce ceremony.

London council omits anti-Semitism from list of hate crimes

A London council left anti-Semitism off a list of hate crimes while including many other forms of prejudice, including transphobia and Islamophobia.

Tower Hamlets “cropped” the reference to anti-Jewish discrimination from a website page promoting support for National Hate Crime Awareness Week.

For four years, the poster on the web page has not made any reference to anti-Semitism, while at the same time listing disablism, homophobia, Islamophobia, racism and transphobia.

A mere accident I’m sure.

Israel’s war for survival is only just beginning

This was always a war that Israel could not afford to lose but could never decisively win. It remains to be seen whether the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas represents a successful outcome for the Jewish State or a Pyrrhic victory.

Egypt’s president, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, was right to say yesterday that ‘the world is witnessing a historic moment’. But his claim that the deal opens ‘a door of hope for the peoples of the region for a future defined by justice and stability’ sounds like wishful thinking.

Canadian Jews facing disregard, whether it’s deliberately provocative or ignorantly obtuse

On the world stage where tragedy is an ever-running production, hopefully the curtain is finally coming down on the war in Gaza and the remaining hostages will come home.

Israel and Hamas have accepted at least the first phase of the ceasefire deal driven by President Donald Trump. The remaining abductees, living and dead, are to be released. Rejoicing Palestinians are flooding back to the wreckage of their homes and lives.
