Terry Glavin: Under hate speech bill, wouldn’t Trudeau be guilty of vilifying Catholics?

It’s a cunning move. You have to grant the Trudeau government that much. After years of muddling through consultations and revisions and dogs’ breakfasts, the online harms act was tabled in the House of Commons this week, casting a wide net in an effort to regulate social media platforms, live-streaming services and user-uploaded “adult” content. It also creates a stand-alone hate crimes law, all in one go.

With hate crimes at record high, study looks at broader Canadian impact

People who live in Canadian cities that have high rates of hate crimes(opens in a new tab) were less likely to report positive physical and mental health compared with those in other parts of the country, according to Statistics Canada.

In a recent study released Thursday, Statistics Canada said it found that fewer Canadians (46 per cent) in these areas that saw more hate crimes reported “excellent or very good mental health” compared with those living in other parts of the country (50 per cent).

It defined a hate crime as “a criminal violation motivated by hate.”

Crappy article that fails to offer stats on the actual number or ethnic/religious background of victims.

Typically the Jewish faith leads the hate crime hit parade by a wide margin. Someone likely figured that fact to be “controversial” and left identifying data out lest they offend their Hamas supporting viewers.

Recall that reporting on the latest available national hate crime stats deliberately avoided mentioning that crimes against Christians soared thanks to the Liberal party unleashing a wave of Fake Grave Hysteria resulting in arsons and vandalism against over a hundred churches.

“You’re Big Brother:” EU Parliament Votes To Make Hate Speech an EU Crime

Sparking intense criticism from conservatives, the left-leaning majority of the European Parliament adopted a resolution calling for the extension of the EU crime list to include hate speech and hate crimes, which would allow the European Commission to introduce binding minimum penalties for all member states.

The vote, that took place on Thursday, January 18th, passed with 397 for and 121 against, with only 26 abstentions—the latter mainly coming from a handful of dissident leftists concerned that the law may be used to silence anti-Israel voices. As always, only the two conservative blocs, ECR and ID, voted against it while all leftist parties and the center-right EPP supported the report.

Hate crimes in Toronto ‘the likes of which we have never seen’

So much hate out there. So much hurt out there.

Which are not the same thing. The law can’t prevent anyone from saying hurtful things, words that cut to the bone, and that is how it must be in a democracy that enshrines free speech. But a lot easier said when the invective isn’t aimed at you. When it is targeted, instead, at gays and Muslims and, most commonly over these past many weeks since the massacre raids by Hamas into Israel, at Jews.

The organization reported that the alleged attacker also tried to smash through the windows and kick and strike worshippers. According to the NCCM, the attacker also uttered a number of Islamophobic slurs and threats, including about Muslim terrorists, “how he was there to ‘finish the job’ and how he was Israeli.”

Police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Chandler Marshall of Toronto.

FBI, DOJ Refuse To Call Covenant School Shooting An Anti-White Hate Crime Even After Racist Manifesto Is Leaked

The Department of Justice and FBI pride themselves on being the top federal agencies to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of hate crimes. Their zeal for tracking down racists and targeting Americans based on fabricated white supremacy allegations apparently stops, however, when it comes to classifying the type of anti-white crimes that occurred at Covenant School earlier this year.

On March 27, 2023, Audrey Hale, a woman masquerading as a man, shot and killed three children and three staff at a Christian grade school before local police took her out.

White Japanese Man …

Travis Ikeguchi, 27, made anti-LGBTQ posts before shooting dead California shop owner Laura Ann Carleton over her Pride flag

Ikeguchi’s GAB – a blogging site often known for its right-wing users – page was filled with references to religion, anti-democracy, anti-police and references to defending himself.

‘America must repent for a lot of things we allow; abortion/baby killing, sexual immortality, pornography, same-sex marriages, LGBTQP/pedophilia, freemasonry, religiosity, politics, wars, colonialism, the federal reserve,’ he wrote in a post.

The self-professed authority on anti-Asian hate crimes in America pushes a misleading and divisive narrative on race.

Stop Stop AAPI Hate

America’s latest era of racial turmoil has been a boon to many organizations. Black Lives Matter is merely the highest-profile group to claim the mantle of authority on racism, while bringing in millions of dollars in contributions. Stop AAPI Hate (AAPI stands for Asian American and Pacific Islander), purporting to be the leading authority on “anti-Asian hate crimes,” has followed BLM’s model, promoting the story that America is racist toward Asians. Its motto reflects that mission: it seeks to “advance equity, justice, and power by dismantling systemic racism.”

The Asian BLM, just more anti-white racism.
