Three men in Ahmaud Arbery case convicted of federal hate crimes

The three men who were found guilty last November of murdering Ahmaud Arbery are also guilty of federal hate crime charges, a jury ruled Tuesday.

The three defendants, Travis McMichael, his father, Gregory McMichael, and William “Roddie” Bryan, pleaded not guilty to the charges, but the jury ultimately concluded that they violated Arbery’s civil rights and had a racial motivation in their pursuit of him.

Ahmaud Arbery’s killers all sentenced to life in prison

The three white Georgia men who chased and gunned down Ahmaud Arbery were each given life sentences Friday for what the dead jogger’s dad called a modern-day lynching “in broad daylight.”

Ex-cop Gregory McMichael, 66, his son Travis McMichael, 35, and their neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan, 52, had potentially faced the death penalty after being found guilty in late November of the horrific caught-on-camera 2020 slaying.

Farewell to the ‘non-hate crime incident’

In August 2020, the barrister Sarah Phillimore mused on Twitter: “my cat really loves Dreamies perhaps he’s a Methodist.” Me neither, but the point is what happened next. As an experiment, a fellow-Tweeter reported the gag to South Yorkshire Police, saying that it displayed anti-Methodist hatred: clearly Phillimore was stigmatising Methodists as “wandering pests that defecate in other people’s gardens”. The police knew just what to do. They decided that Phillimore had committed an NCHI: a “non-crime hate incident”.

There goes the narrative… ‘Each of the six suspects received hate crime enhancements with their charges, according to police.’

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — Six people believed to have targeted Asian women around the Bay Area in multiple robberies have been arrested, the San Jose Police Department said.

Their investigation focused on over 70 reported incidents of robbery, burglary and theft that happened between Oct. 2020 and Sept. 2021, police said.

Each of the six suspects received hate crime enhancements with their charges, according to police.

But the real threat is from the far right…

Anti-Christian hate crimes in Germany increased by nearly 150% in 2020

… The Vienna-based Observatory on Intolerance against Christians in Europe (OIDAC), which has compiled a report on anti-Christian hate crime in the continent, says the two main threats come from ‘secular intolerance’ and ‘Islamic oppression’.

… They said: ‘Islamic Oppression can mostly be seen in what we call “hotspot areas” of European cities and suburbs, where they impose unique legal and moral codes, which are often in contradiction to democratic principles and human rights.’

There’s an unspoken reason that Blacks are attacking Asian people

The preferred narrative does not hold up under scrutiny.

Woom Sing Tse arrived in America from Communist China almost 50 years ago with $100 to his name and worked his way up to owning a successful restaurant. On Wednesday, a 23-year-old Black career criminal executed him on Chicago’s streets. Maybe a rival paid for this hit, or maybe this was yet another example of the Black community’s incredible hostility to Asians.

Does hate crime no longer matter?

Two shocking attacks allegedly carried out by Muslims have not caused a storm. We need to talk about why.

Imagine if footage emerged showing a white man attacking people in a Muslim-populated part of town. Imagine if CCTV images showed the man punching a visibly Muslim elderly man in the face without provocation. Imagine if someone’s dashcam then captured this same bloke assaulting a Muslim child.
