AOC, furious Dems call for Trump to be impeached over Iran strikes

Progressive Squad Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and a chorus of Democrats called on President Trump to be impeached after he decided to bomb top nuclear facilities of Iran — blasting the move as “unconstitutional.”

“The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers,” Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) declared not long after Trump announced the attack.

What we know about US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities

President Donald Trump says the US has carried out a “successful” bombing attack on three nuclear sites in Iran and said they have been “obliterated”.

Israel says they were in “full co-ordination” with the US in planning the strikes. Iranian officials have confirmed the facilities were struck but denied it had suffered a major blow.

The strikes mark a significant escalation in the ongoing war between Iran and Israel.

How Iran could retaliate after US strike

Ahead of Donald Trump’s strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, his defence chiefs will have war-gamed possible retaliation.

Washington has put its 40,000 troops deployed in the Middle East, including in the United Arab Emirates, Jordan and Saudi Arabia, on high alert amid escalating tensions.

Now that America has attacked key Iranian nuclear sites with what is reported to be six bunker buster munitions, US defence chiefs will be bracing for a response.

Dearborn may as well be Tehran. The GTA is host to a strong network of SHIA Mosques.

US has bombed three nuclear sites in Iran, Trump announces: ‘Now is the time for peace’

The US military dropped six “bunker buster” bombs on Iran’s Fordow nuclear enrichment plant Saturday night — with President Trump declaring the facility hidden beneath a mountain “is gone.”

Trump announced the airstrikes days after Israel initiated extensive attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and military.

“We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space,” Trump posted on Truth Social just before 8 p.m. Saturday — marking the first-ever US strike on Iranian territory.

Will the Israel-Iran war turn into a boots-on-the-ground fight?

Beautiful downtown Tehran

From the very git-go, and certainly after a few days of Israel’s attack on Iran’s military and nuclear leaders and infrastructure, it was fully obvious and well-known that no “deal” could resolve the Iran nuke problem. Given what we have come to understand about Donald Trump’s modus operandi, he probably knew this also.

But despite the irrelevance of a “deal,” there was widespread and abundant confidence in Trump’s ability to get the job done, and this was confirmed by the Day Three announcement that the IDF had achieved air superiority over Iran.

Conrad Black: Israel is delivering a lethal blow to global terrorism

We are at a decisive moment in the history of the Jews. “Never Again!” was the rallying cry of the Jewish people after approximately half the world’s Jews were gassed and incinerated in the death camps of the Third Reich, six million Jews, along with at least six-million non Jews who were also murdered by the Nazis (including three million Soviet POWs and as many as 500,000 Romani). The Jews did not have a state in the 25 centuries between the Persian occupation of the kingdom of Judea of Saul and David and Solomon, and the creation of the State of Israel as an explicitly Jewish country in 1948. For all of that time, the Jews were reviled as “rootless cosmopolitans, usurers and sharpers” because they were excluded from the professions. They had no place of safety from the perennial evils of antisemitism. As Jewish scholar Dara Horn has written, the world “loves dead Jews.” Those that retained a sense of optimistic goodwill, like Anne Frank, expiated the rest of us.

Iran: the cradle of Islamo-leftism

As Israel’s shadow war with Iran finally ignited into the open this month, the so-called progressives of the Western left were in no doubt where their allegiances lay. Not with the liberal democracy of Israel, but with the repressive autocracy of Iran.

On the streets of Western cities, self-identified radicals have been flying the flags of the Islamic Republic, while on the highways of social media, they have been indulging in their ritualistic denunciation of the ‘genocidal regime’ of Israel. No doubt they have also been cheering on every successful Iranian missile strike, just as some of them celebrated Hamas’s orgy of slaughter and rape in southern Israel on 7 October 2023.

Tulsi Gabbard now says Iran could produce nuclear weapon ‘within weeks’

Tulsi Gabbard says Iran could produce nuclear weapons “within weeks”, months after she testified before Congress that the country was not building them.

The US Director of National Intelligence said her March testimony – in which she said Iran had a stock of materials but was not building these weapons – had been taken out of context by “dishonest media”.

Her change of position came after Donald Trump said she was “wrong” and that intelligence showed Iran had a “tremendous amount of material” and could have a nuclear weapon “within months”.

Backed into a corner, Ayatollah Khamenei faces impossible choice

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei looked like a man staring down the barrel of a gun when he recorded his speech on Wednesday, ruling out surrender to the United States. The words were defiant, but they were delivered in a soft, weary monotone that has left Iranians wondering whether the supreme leader is still in charge.

That is a question that may decide the next phase of Iran’s history, after more than 40 years of an Islamic Republic moulded by Khamenei and his predecessor, Ayatollah Khomeini. His regime is tottering from Israeli airstrikes, and a US intervention could be its coup de grâce.

Trump has demanded “unconditional surrender” — a bitter pill for Khamenei and his powerful military aides, but abandoning their nuclear ambitions could save what is left of their rule.

You got two weeks pal.

Anti-Regime Iranians Speak Out, Discuss Widespread Discontent With the Mullahs’ Rule

The American Spectator spoke to multiple sources from the Iranian opposition. These include a former and current resident of Iran, both of whom relayed to us information from extensive contacts in the country. These sources include Iranians “living in the center of Tehran” and across the country. Coming from a regime stained with blood, our sources provided this information, and information from their families and contacts, with great courage.

The Iranian regime has taken action to block the internet in the country. Few Iranians are able to reach friends outside their country’s borders. Those who are able to access the internet rely on Elon Musk’s Starlink service.

Trump’s Churchillian Decision: Eliminating Iran’s Nuclear Sites Means No One Can Use Them Later

President Donald J. Trump has a problem. If he leaves Iran’s major nuclear research and centrifuge sites, such as the Fordow uranium enrichment plant or Natanz, under their protective mountains, the countless centrifuges sheltered there will remain a permanent temptation — an “attractive nuisance” — for the Iranian regime to resurrect to terrorize its neighbors with again.

Trump Gives Iran 2 Weeks Grace

Trump Gives Iran 2 Weeks Grace

Target: Iran. US forces are ready to deliver the second heaviest bunker buster ever made

The US armed forces have made various significant moves in recent days and months, clearly in preparation for strikes on Iran.

First, in March, B-2 Stealth bombers were deployed to Diego Garcia in the middle of the Indian Ocean – a good base for operations against Iran. The B-2s cost more than a billion dollars each and the US only has 19 of them (21 were built but two have been wrecked in accidents): they are only used for the most important operations.

Canadians fleeing war in Iran face obstacles in absence of diplomatic ties

Canadian physician Panid Borhanjoo woke up on Friday morning in Iran’s cottage country to an onslaught of messages from family and friends asking if he was safe.

He turned on the news in his relatives’ home in Mazandaran, a lush, coastal province on the Caspian Sea. Israeli missiles had destroyed Iranian nuclear facilities and killed high-ranking military personnel in Tehran, about 200 kilometres away. War had erupted.

Update: Canada will help facilitate flights for citizens leaving Israel and Iran, Anand says

If you’re traveling to a regime like Iran that funds terrorism you shouldn’t be allowed back in Canada.

Maga splits over Trump’s Iran strategy

As Israeli bombs rained down on Iran on Monday, Donald Trump fired off a salvo of his own on Truth Social attacking one of his most reliable media allies.

“Somebody please explain to kooky Tucker Carlson that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon,” Mr Trump wrote in response to remarks from the political commentator claiming he was “complicit” in Israel’s strikes.

“Let him go get a television network and say it so that people listen,” Mr Trump continued, in an apparent dig at Carlson’s web show.

… The MAGA consensus isn’t that tricky to divine; we don’t need to invest in tea leaves, Tarot cards, or professional pollsters. It’s pretty simple, folks: MAGA does NOT want American soldiers in Iran, and there’s ZERO appetite for another “Forever War” in the Middle East.

But that doesn’t mean we want Iran to acquire a nuclear WMD! Are you out of your frickin’ mind?!
