Today in history: Crusaders celebrate first major triumph over the Muslim persecutors of Christians

Today in history, on June 19, 1097, the first major victory of the First Crusade occurred at Nicaea.

In the years following the decisive Battle of Manzikert (1071), which saw the Seljuk Turks defeat the Eastern Roman Empire and conquer that ancient bastion of Christianity, Anatolia (modern day Turkey), mindboggling atrocities were committed. Whether an anonymous Georgian chronicler tells of how “holy churches served as stables for their horses,” the “priests were immolated during the Holy Communion itself,” the “virgins defiled, the youths circumcised, and the infants taken away,” or whether Anna Comnena, the princess at Constantinople, tells of how “cities were obliterated, lands were plundered, and the whole of Anatolia was stained with Christian blood” – the same scandalous tale of woe reached the West.

They’re accused of murdering to cover their ISIS ties. But their lawyers say the Crown’s witness can’t be trusted

Chicken Land Terrorists – Anand Nath, Suliman Raza, Naqash Abbasi

Lawyers for three men accused of orchestrating the attempted massacre of a family at a Mississauga restaurant say the Crown’s lead witness has “significant credibility issues,” and “should not be trusted to fill the holes in the Crown’s case.”

Naqash Abbasi, Anand Nath and Suliman Raza looked on from the accused box Tuesday, as their lawyers took turns casting doubt on the Crown’s theory that the three were behind a May 29, 2021 plot to kill former business associate Naim Akl and his entire family in order to prevent Akl from telling police about the men’s ties to a terrorist group.

The lawyers, in their final address to the jury, took turns in attempting to rubbish that theory. They called for the men to be acquitted on all charges against them.

According to the reports, one of the suspects was in a relationship with the girl and claimed in his interrogation that he committed the act as revenge for her not disclosing that she was Jewish.

Antisemitic remarks and pictures, including a photo of a burned Israeli flag, were found on the suspect’s mobile phone.

The Munk Debate

I like Douglas Murray. I am glad for the result.

However I can’t help but think it’s just another virtue signal that really isn’t going to achieve much in the here and now.

Those attending the event no doubt left with the chest puffing certainty that they have done their bit.

I bet few if any in this Toronto audience would dare publicly state that immigration from Muslim states to Canada should be ended and those “residents” found expressing hate for this nation should be expeditiously deported.

Dear stupid Europeans, after Saturday comes Sunday

Christian suffering cannot be attributed to Israel and thus poses a serious problem for Woke Westerners who see the world through a neo-Marxist lens of the struggle between the oppressed and their oppressors.

-Three Nigerian Christians made to kneel and killed by Islamic State.

-Catholics in northern Mozambique who tell stories of parishioners murdered by Islamists for refusing to recant their faith.

-Among those killed, Francisco Massaya, who met his death at the foot of the chapel, and Silvano Valentim, who confessed to being Christian before being beheaded.

The ‘acceptable’ face of racism in Britain

As elites wring their hands over a moribund far right, surging middle-class anti-Semitism gets a free pass.

Former Tory PM David Cameron, aka Lord Cameron of Chipping Norton, has gone on the offensive against Nigel Farage and Reform UK.

In an interview with The Times last week, Cameron accused Farage of using ‘inflammatory language’ and promoting ‘divisive policies’. Citing the Reform leader’s claim that Tory leader Rishi Sunak ‘doesn’t understand our culture’ after he left the 80th anniversary D-Day commemorations early, Cameron claimed Farage was deploying ‘dog whistle’ politics designed to appeal, presumably, to Britain’s racist masses. Apparently, Reform-curious, working-class voters are only a Farage quip away from beating up British Asians. (Cameron launched this attack despite Farage making it abundantly clear at the time he made them that his comments had nothing to do with race.)

Manitoba Muslim group blames Winnipeg youth’s suicide on Israel-Hamas War

The Manitoba Islamic Association (MIA) said a Winnipeg resident who committed suicide by lighting himself on fire at the Waverley Grand Mosque was influenced to do it by the Israel-Hamas War.

When people die through their own choice, MIA Board members said it is easy for many to attribute causes to mental health.

Europe’s ‘foreigners out!’ generation: Why young people vote far right

The historic success of the radical right in last weekend’s European Parliament election may have come as a shock, knocking two of the bloc’s most important governments off balance.

But it shouldn’t have been too much of a surprise for anyone paying attention to the outraged mood among many of the Continent’s young people, who have not only embraced hard-line anti-immigration views but seem prouder than ever to broadcast them.

Consider this as evidence: A 14-second clip filmed on the German holiday island of Sylt and uploaded to the social media platform X about two weeks before the vote. In it, a group of expensively dressed German youths can be seen belting out the words “Ausländer Raus!” (“foreigners out!”) over a euro-dance beat as they swirl glasses of rosé.

Evidently it’s a crime to demand that the mass migration of incompatible cultures be stopped. Good to know!

Pe’er Krut: Anti-Israel tirade at Ontario high school shows Jews are targets wherever they go

With shots fired at two Canadian Jewish schools in late May, and an anti-Israel tirade waged by a guest speaker reported at a Catholic school, where should Jewish students turn? Where are we safe?

On May 21, students at St. Theresa of Lisieux Catholic High School in Richmond Hill, Ont., were unwittingly ushered into an assembly where a guest speaker, introduced simply as a surgeon, projected graphic imagery from the Israel-Hamas conflict. Accompanying the visuals were a series of unfounded claims about the war, according to an anonymous letter shared by the Jewish Educators and Families Association of Canada.

It is long overdue that blame be placed on our mainstream political parties for their callous import of Islamists. Why were they so cruel to us?

Poll says Muslims & Jews least likely to vote Conservative

… Sikhs are most likely to support opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, at 54% followed by Christians and Hindus at 53% each.

Muslims were least likely, at 15% followed by Jewish people at 42%.

Ironically, the number of Jews and Muslims who would vote Liberal was almost similar, at 33% and 31%, respectively. But Muslims were more than twice as likely of all religious groups to support the NDP, at 41% compared to 20% for Sikhs and Jews.

Muslims and Jews for Junior?
