DUBAI, March 1 (Reuters) – Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei described homosexuality as part of the “moral deprivation” widespread in Western civilisation, during a televised speech on Tuesday.
“There is severe moral deprivation in the world today such as homosexuality and things that one cannot bring oneself to even talk about. Some have rightly called Western civilisation a new age of ignorance,” Khamenei said.

According to a new report published by Greece’s Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, there were 2,339 incidents of church desecrations in the country between 2015 and 2020, when tiny Greece, seen as Europe’s eastern gateway, was flooded with migrants from the Islamic world. But in a news release issued on Tuesday the Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center shed further light on what happened, based on conversations with a Grade 8 teacher who was present.
They said that the teacher, who is Jewish, reported that two students “stood up on a filing cabinet and performed the Nazi salute” in her classroom while a third shouted “Heil Hitler” from their desk.

A court in India has sentenced to death a record 38 people for a deadly terror attack in the Indian city of Ahmedabad in 2008, in which up to 20 bombs were set off across the city in hospitals, shopping centres and parks, leaving 56 dead.
It was the first time so many accused have received death sentences in a single case in the country. The sentence must be confirmed by a higher court. Judge AR Patel also sentenced 11 people to life imprisonment in the case.

Canada will be joining the withdrawal of a French-led military contingent from Mali after supporting the operation against Islamist militants for nearly a decade, according to a joint declaration by the military allies.
Canada does not have troops in the counter-insurgency campaign, known today as Operation Barkhane and Task Force Takuba, but has been supporting it with Canadian military transport aircraft since 2013.
