Salman Rushdie: My attacker came in hard and low like a squat missile

Sir Salman Rushdie has described the moment he saw his would-be killer “coming in hard and low – a squat missile” before he was stabbed more than a dozen times in a lecture hall in 2022.

In his first television interview about the attack, the novelist said he had sometimes envisioned a killer striking in a public place, and his immediate thought was: “So, it’s you. Here you are.”

The Booker Prize winner was told by doctors he was lucky to escape with his life, saying the man who stabbed him “had no idea how to kill a man with a knife”.

York University’s ‘Toolkit on Teaching Palestine’ endangers campus’s Jewish community – opinion

Since October 7, there has been a proliferation of students vocalizing their views on the Hamas-Israel war. Most universities are no strangers to differing views; however, the already prominent friction between students has increased since the Palestinian Solidarity Working Group released its Toolkit on Teaching Palestine at York University. As a Canadian student based in Ontario, I am deeply concerned about the damage this “toolkit” could cause to the Jewish community both on and off campus.

FBI chief Chris Wray to warn of ‘coordinated attack’ on US just weeks after Moscow concert hall horror

FBI Director Christopher Wray will warn lawmakers later Thursday that there is a growing fear among law enforcement officials of a “coordinated attack” inside the US — weeks after an ISIS assault on a concert hall in Moscow killed 145 people and wounded hundreds more.

“Our most immediate concern has been that individuals or small groups will draw twisted inspiration from the events in the Middle East to carry out attacks here at home,” Wray will tell a House Appropriations subcommittee.

I might trust the Jihadis more than Wray.

Defining Jihadism

Recently, the Daily Wire revealed that an internal newsletter from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence featured an article arguing for “changing terminology related to counterterrorism,” because “certain phrases to identify international terrorism… are hurtful to Muslim-Americans.” One of the supposedly “problematic phrases” is the term “jihadist.” An alternative suggestion given in the newsletter to denote jihadists is the word khawarij.

Afghan sex offender avoids deportation over risk of ‘mob violence’

An Afghan sex offender avoided deportation after lawyers claimed his treatment of women would put him at risk of “mob violence” in his home country.

The 31-year-old asylum seeker was jailed for 12 weeks for “outraging public decency and exposure” and was placed on the sex offenders’ register for seven years.

However, the Afghan was awarded refugee status and avoided deportation after claiming it was a breach of his human rights to deny him asylum in the UK.

Eid in the Park event in Manchester descends into chaos

Eid prayers planned to take place in a Manchester park descended into chaos after organisers moved the event inside because of wet weather.

Eid in the Park was due to take place at Platt Fields Park in Fallowfield to mark the beginning of Eid al-Fitr, following the end of Ramadan.

Photos and videos from the event showed scores of worshippers pushing and shoving in a lengthy queue outside the new venue.

It never “gets better”.

For Jews in Canada, every day feels like Al-Quds Day

Once upon a time, Jews in Toronto could expect only one public antisemitic hate-fest every year when enemies of Israel would gather downtown to mark the annual Al-Quds Day. How almost strangely quaint that now seems in view of today’s reality.

For Jews in 2024, amid a staggering rise in antisemitism, almost every day is starting to feel like Al-Quds Day, given the increasingly frequent and toxic anti-Israel and anti-Jewish incitement playing out on the streets and university campuses of Canada’s major cities.

It will not get better.

Muslim couple arrested in Germany for the rape and torture of Yazidi girls aged 5 and 12 that they took as slaves

Islamic State Suspects Held in Germany for Enslaving Yazidi Children

… The pair was married under Islamic law and were members of IS in Iraq and Syria from 2015 to 2017. During this time, they held two Yazidi girls, aged five and 12, as slaves, according to prosecutors.

The Yazidis are a Kurdish-speaking group hailing from northern Iraq. They have for years been persecuted by IS terrorists, who have killed hundreds of men, raped women, and forcibly recruited children as fighters.

Twana H. S. repeatedly raped both children, with the help of Asia R. A., who prepared a room and put make-up on one of the girls, they said.

Mayor Olivia Chow says she won’t condemn six councillors who criticized the Toronto Police Service’s handling of a recent pro-Hamas rally. Neither will the six councillors who signed the letter answer questions put to them by The Toronto Sun, detailing the links between the groups organizing the protests and support for terrorism.

HWDSB trustee says she’s banned from private meetings because of Pro Hamas social media post

A Hamilton public school board trustee says she’s banned from participating in private board and committee meetings after refusing to delete a November social media post about being under investigation for other social media posts in support of Palestinians.

Sabreina Dahab, Ward 2 trustee for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB), posted to X on Monday morning with the update, saying she is appealing her ban.

This is the crap she’s currently posting, outright false accusations of war crimes.

It was a great idea to invite Satan to settle here.
