Supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris breathed a collective sigh of relief when, for once, she managed to remember her rehearsed lines during the recent presidential debate with former President Trump. Her friends in the Fourth Estate gleefully joined the Democrats in declaring Harris the “winner” and gloated over Trump’s underwhelming performance. These people have forgotten that Hillary Clinton was celebrated as the victor of all her debates with Trump in 2016 and how little that mattered in the end. They would be wise to consider why Harris couldn’t answer the most important question of last week’s debate and what that failure portends for her campaign.

The Kamala Harris campaign has been busy in recent weeks building its coalitions operation. There are teachers for Harris, nurses for Harris, LGBTQs for Harris, even cat ladies and white dudes for Harris. It looks like a robust operation.

Wishing to leave no stone unturned, there’s also a Christians for Harris coalition, which actually makes the most sense, politically. Democrats have a lock on most of the aforementioned groups but not so much among people of faith. Within this demographic, Democrats have long under-performed Republicans so targeting Christians is smart politics.

Kamala’s entire campaign is Astro Turfed.

National Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off Sunday with Vice President Harris launching what NBC News describes as her “largest effort yet to reach Latino voters.” President Trump is enjoying historic support from the voting bloc, putting the Democrat on notice that she cannot take its support for granted.

The NPR/PBS News/Marist National poll released last week found Trump leading Ms. Harris 51 to 47 percent among Hispanics. That’s a nine-point swing from last month, and 16 points higher than the 35 percent of the now 36.2 million-strong group he earned in 2020. It’s also a 23-point improvement on his 2016 total.

One of the things that was obvious during the debate was that Kamala came in with a lot of memorized material. Those who like her were impressed by how well-prepared she was. Those who don’t like her noted that she had to memorize everything because she is incapable of answering substantive questions on the fly—and that her memorized answers were platitudes, canned phrases, and blatant lies. What didn’t occur to those of us who dislike Kamala was that the memorized lines invariably went right to the heart of the questions. Weird, huh?

Former president Donald Trump was fact-checked in real-time on multiple occasions by moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis during Tuesday night’s presidential debate.

The ABC anchors never disputed any of Vice President Kamala Harris’ claims.

It wouldn’t be a hard sell that Kamala Harris “exceeded expectations” or “over performed” in last night’s debate, but the surest sign that she did neither is the immediate sticky, slavish post-debate media coverage. I’m convinced all of it was pre-written and they were going to call Kamala a warrior queen even if she had literally soiled herself on stage.

New York Times “The Daily” podcast host Michael Barbaro said Kamala “dominated and enraged Donald Trump.” Mike Allen at Axios said Kamala “delivered for Democrats.” The Washington Post heralded her “sharp, fiery” performance.

It seemed to be a point of pride for Nancy Pelosi that hers was one of the voices that knocked Presidentish Joe Biden out of his reelection campaign. “I just wanted to win this election,” she told David Remnick during the Democratic National Convention in August about Democrats who didn’t approve of her scheming. “So if they’re upset, I’m sorry for them. But the country is very happy.”

This is a newly uncovered ABC profile of San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown from 1995, where the reporter even asks Kamala if she’s his daughter.
