Replacing him before the convention would pose significant problems for Democratic Party leadership.
As President Biden’s weak debate performance continues to erode his standing in the polls and the credibility of his reelection campaign, not to mention his presidency, observers may wonder whyh the Biden team continues to operate as though nothing has happened. Every day brings news of elected Democrats or major donors openly imploring Biden to terminate his campaign. With early voting in some states set to begin in September, time is running short if the party wishes to “swap in” a new candidate at the top of the ticket.
The hand-wringing from Democrats over Joe Biden’s fragile mental state and the impact it could have on the presidential contest is reaching a fever pitch. As the chorus of “should he stay or should he go” grows ever louder, we’re hearing more alarming stories about what may be going on behind the scenes at the West Wing.
In new letter, president digs in amid calls from some lawmakers for him to quit race
WASHINGTON—President Biden told congressional Democrats in a letter Monday that he was committed to “running this race to the end,” as public and private calls for him to exit from the contest grow louder.
In the letter, Biden said he had had “extensive conversations” with party leadership, members and voters over the past 10 days and said he wasn’t blind to the concerns about his age and his candidacy that have emerged since his disastrous debate performance. But he said he was heartened by “rock-solid, steadfast support” from many and wouldn’t continue if he wasn’t confident he could beat former President Donald Trump.

The Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois is August 19-22 and will conclude with the party choosing its nominee for 2024.
Most Americans have watched a treasured grandparent or beloved friend slip into the cruel twilight of dementia. The slow brain death affects everyone differently and can be heartbreaking in its symptoms. Yet there are certain universal signs that the sufferer is losing brain function. These can include changes in alertness and attention, problems with movement and posture, stiffness, confusion, false memories, and even hallucinations.

A couple of months ago, Joe Scarborough warned his viewers, and especially his critics, that he was about to unleash a truth bomb.
The former Republican congressman wanted everyone to know not that Joe Biden had lost a step but was still okay, not that Biden was better than Trump regardless of his physical and mental state, and certainly not that he had heard some concerning things about Biden but he didn’t want anyone to draw premature conclusions.
