Trudeau gov’t to open migrant benefit shopper processing centre in Quebec near U.S. border

Canadian authorities are planning to open a processing centre for asylum seekers near the United States border in Quebec in case there is a sharp rise in the number of would-be refugees entering Canada.

Earlier this week, the federal government published a notice seeking office space it could lease to accommodate reception and meal distribution areas as well as a waiting room for up to 200 people at a time.

In an e-mail, the Canada Border Services Agency says the planned processing centre is part of its contingency plans “in the event of an influx of asylum seekers.”

Liberal Gov’t offers provinces incentives to flood Canada with benefit shopper migrants fleeing US crackdown

Immigration Minister offers provinces incentive to accept more asylum seekers

Immigration Minister Marc Miller is offering an incentive to provinces and territories to accept asylum seekers, saying he may allow them to select more economic migrants if they agree to help shoulder the burden.

As part of a wider drive to decrease the number of immigrants Canada accepts, this week Ottawa informed most provinces and territories that they must cut in half the number of people they bring in under provincial nominee programs this year. Each province receives an allotment from Ottawa for the number of nominees they can accept, although not all of them fill it.

The slimeballs just won’t quit.

‘We can’t fund this’: City of Windsor responds as Trudeau gov’t ends funding for so-called asylum claimants it flooded Canada with

The City of Windsor has released a stern message as the federal government gets set to stop funding the Interim Housing Assistance Program for asylum claimants.

“We can’t fund this, and we won’t,” said Andrew Daher, city commissioner of human and health services.

He pointed out to media during a news conference that 846 departure notices were handed out by the government for January, February and March.

“About 191 of those folks have been taken care of in January, so we’re left with roughly 600 or so folks that are going to get a letter, it will be effective Feb. 3 and then March 3,” Daher said.

Canada’s population could reach 80M in 50 years, despite immigration cut: report

Canada’s population will grow over the years regardless of the federal government’s recent decision to slash immigration rates, a new report shows.

Statistics Canada released new projection figures Tuesday that factor in Ottawa’s October announcement that it would be reducing the number of permanent residents admitted to the country by 21 per cent in 2025.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said at the time the goal was to pause population growth over the next two years to ease pressures the economy has been facing, such as in housing and infrastructure.

Poilievre will be Justin on immigration. We need a moratorium and an end to 3rd world immigration.

It’s a start … Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada eliminating 3,300 federal jobs, unions say

A federal union warns 3,300 positions are being eliminated at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

The Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and the Canada Employment and Immigration Union (CEIU) issued a statement about the potential job cuts, calling it a “devastating blow to the public services families, businesses and communities Canada rely on.”

The unions say there are no “clear details” about who will be affected by the job cuts, with more information to be announced in mid-February.

The Star’s Fainting Couch Is Occupied

Elon Musk has Donald Trump’s ear and a new-found interest in Canada. How much should we worry?

OTTAWA — Donald Trump’s return to the White House on Monday has already proven to be a thorn in the side of Canadian officials, but his second presidency brings additional baggage for Canada: Elon Musk.
The close adviser to Trump, owner of the social media platform X and richest man on Earth has a new-found interest in Canada, a ratio of five X followers for every Canadian and the stamina to post dozens of times a day. And he’s not afraid to dish out his political opinions online.

All of these TDS Patriots were silent as Trudeau flooded Canada with incompatible cultures causing irreparable harm to society.

Universities face ‘across the board’ cuts in wake of international student cap

OTTAWA – Canadian colleges and universities are responding to a cash crunch brought on by Ottawa’s cut to international student permits with layoffs, hiring freezes and service reductions, say people in the post-secondary education sector.

A year ago, the federal government announced a 35 per cent reduction in study permits — bringing the number down to an estimated 360,000 for 2024 — one of the first major reductions in Canada’s permanent and temporary immigration targets.

Good, we should hope for bankruptcies and closures as well.

New and old fears at a well-trodden Canada-U.S. border ahead of Trump’s inauguration

Standing in a neighbour’s driveway on Perry Mills Road in Champlain, N.Y., less than a kilometre from the border with Canada, Stephen Phaneuf points to fields and forest behind the small blue home.

“They come out from the fields, out from everywhere,” says Phaneuf, 67, referring to migrants crossing from Canada into the United States, who have been doing so in increasing numbers since 2022.

Phaneuf’s property across the road sits on the banks the Chazy River. Last winter, he said he found a woman and her child sleeping with his pigs in small plastic huts near the road.
