Matthew Lau: How Toronto grooms kids to be climate activists

This year’s deadline to apply for Toronto’s Youth Climate Action Grants has just passed so the city’s climate bureaucrats are now presumably reading grant applications from school children who want to engage in climate change activism. The program, a partnership between the City of Toronto, the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board, invites kids from junior kindergarten to grade 12 to apply for up to $1,000 per project or activity to educate and engage Torontonians on climate actions.

Ontario Appeals Court Allows Defamation Case of Former Teacher Concerned About Age-Appropriateness of Books to Proceed

A former Ontario teacher has been given the go-ahead by the Ontario Court of Appeal to bring a defamation lawsuit against the Waterloo Regional District School Board (WRDSB).

Justices Benjamin Zarnett, Patrick J. Monahan, and Renee M. Pomerance on Nov. 5 dismissed an appeal filed by the school board of an earlier court decision in favour of Carolyn Burjoski. The teacher had launched a defamation lawsuit for an accusation by the school board chair that her remarks were “transphobic” when she spoke at a board meeting questioning the age-appropriateness of some books in school libraries

Jamie Sarkonak: Education activists need to leave the kids alone

Some Ontario schools use a little program called Strong Start to help kids learn to read. For years, it’s done so by using games: its “Three Bears Alphabet” board game centres around a mother bear, a father bear and a child bear; its “Treasure Hunt” game takes place on a sandy beach with trading ships off the coast. And the “Race to the Castle” game has children move along the board doing just that.

Most Nonwhite Americans Don’t Want Their Kids Steeped In Cultural Marxism

Like many left-leaning public school districts across America, the leadership of Fairfax County Public Schools just outside our nation’s capital is majority white, despite the region’s racial diversity. Meanwhile, the district’s white, leftist leaders, who incessantly claim to be inclusive, are ironically ignoring parental objections to teaching radical gender ideology in schools.

WASHINGTON—The Supreme Court agreed to decide whether states can restrict medical treatments for transgender minors, a case that puts the justices in the middle of a national debate over gender identity ahead of the November elections.

In a brief order on Monday, the court said it would hear the Biden administration’s challenge to a Tennessee law that bans gender-transition care, such as medications that can delay the onset of puberty and hormones that can cause physical changes such as the development of facial hair or breasts.

Ordinary working Canadians are not buying into transgender identity politics

Wall of Transgender Heroines

A couple of weeks ago, I made the mistake of turning on the news on my car radio. It was the CBC, and a panel was discussing Canada’s housing crisis. According to the experts brought on by the CBC, this crisis was accompanied by a shortage in tradesmen, and this shortage was in part due to the fact that construction sites were hostile environments for women and “non-binary people.” This, the panel opined, was a huge problem that needed to be fixed. It reminded me that the salaries of Canadian tradesmen are garnished to pay for this garbage.

Trans Activists Sabotage Hotline For Girls To Report Creepy Men In Their Bathrooms

In an environment of endless protest from the left, trans activists have moved from public disruption to simply disabling systems they do not like. On May 1, 2024, Utah launched a reporting form to enforce H.B. 257, a law signed by Gov. Spencer Cox in January that protects sex-designated spaces such as restrooms or locker rooms from intrusions by members of the opposite sex. The state auditor is required to investigate these reports, but within a week, the office received around 10,000 false complaints from trans activists attempting to overwhelm the system to make reporting and enforcement impossible.
