The reasons our public-health elite doesn’t want to admit it are political, not medical.

Well, this monkeypox thing is certainly taking its share of twists and turns. There are some “nobody knows” that have even someone like me who’s been writing on epidemics for over 35 years scratching under my armpits. I could also add “is driving me bananas,” but enough with the puns, already.

They’ve been repeating it ever since the start of the Covid pandemic: “We are entering an ‘age of pandemics’ — this is just the beginning”. And they’ve been true to their word: no sooner had the threat of Covid started to wane, and most people had started to put the nightmare of the past two years behind them, than we were told that another dangerous virus had begun to rapidly spread across continents: monkeypox, a rare disease normally limited to West and Central Africa, where it is endemic.

The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) held a group counseling session to help students cope after a professor tweeted about the connection between gay men and monkeypox, according to the event’s website.

Suddenly, the liberal press is worried about disease-related stigma.

During the Covid hysteria, the press, including National Public Radio, pushed mask and vaccine mandates and contributed to the liberal dehumanization and banning from public spaces of the unvaccinated via vaccine passports, while pushing for school closures that deprived public-school children of education and milestone events.
