Teen who helped murder homeless man for fun seeks reduced sentence because she felt bad about herself for being strip searched

… It says the girl, who was 13 at the time, was forced to strip naked on four occasions while in custody at a Kingston, Ont., facility in the weeks following her arrest.

The document says she was also made to strip naked twice at a facility in London, Ont., earlier this year while in custody on an unrelated assault charge. She has since pleaded guilty to that charge, court heard.

“I still get that feeling” of feeling dirty, she said, adding she is speaking to a counsellor about it. “It was humiliating, to be honest…. It made me feel really bad about myself,” she told the court.

On the other hand she felt great about offing that homeless guy so there’s that.

Trudeau insists he still has what Canadians want, despite polling numbers

HALIFAX – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is rejecting the suggestion that the Liberals could benefit from a change at the top after the Democratic party saw a bump in the polls following U.S. President Joe Biden’s exit from the presidential race last month.

Trudeau is in Halifax for a three-day cabinet retreat preparing for the upcoming fall sitting of Parliament, and the time for him to woo voters is becoming increasingly narrow.

Trudeau gov’t unveils yet another mass immigration scam – this one for Francophony students

Canada to grant a select group of international students permanent residence upon graduation with pilot program

Ottawa is launching a new pilot program to attract and retain Francophone international students, providing them with a direct pathway for permanent residency in Canada after graduation.

The initiative is touted as a flagship measure of the new Francophone immigration strategy meant to boost the French-speaking population outside of Quebec, which has declined since 1971 from 6.1 per cent of the Canadian population outside the province to just 3.5 per cent today, threatening the country’s bilingual national identity.

Self-Preservation “Un-Christian” Says Putative Head Of Fading Church

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby

Far right ‘unchristian’, says archbishop of Canterbury as he condemns riots

Far-right groups are “unchristian” and their use of Christian imagery in this summer’s riots is an “outrage”, the archbishop of Canterbury has said.

Writing in the Guardian, Justin Welby condemned violent unrest he said was “racist”, “anti-Muslim, anti-refugee and anti-asylum seeker”. His intervention follows a week of violent disorder that began after a mass stabbing of children at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport last month.

Trump campaign says its internal messages hacked by Iran

Donald Trump’s campaign has said some of its internal communications have been hacked and suggested it was targeted by Iranian operatives.

US news website Politico reported on Saturday that it had been emailed campaign documents including internal research carried out on Trump’s running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance.

“These documents were obtained illegally from foreign sources hostile to the United States, intended to interfere with the 2024 election,” a campaign spokesman told the BBC.

Politico – We received internal Trump documents from ‘Robert.’ Then the campaign confirmed it was hacked.

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign said Saturday that some of its internal communications had been hacked.

The acknowledgment came after POLITICO began receiving emails from an anonymous account with documents from inside Trump’s operation.

Conestoga College reports nearly $252 million surplus

Conestoga College has reported a surplus of $251,646,838 this year and, according to financial statements, the Kitchener, Ont. school more than doubled last year’s surplus of $106,220,863.

Michael Harris, a Region of Waterloo councillor, said profit isn’t what public post-secondary education should be about.

“Running a surplus of $252 million is sizable. And we all know really the underlining reason why that is,” he added. “It’s the international student component and the excessive enrollment of international students.”

Canada says it will get a powerful under-ice sub force. Its money isn’t where its mouth is

The Canadian government has announced an ambitious – and expensive – plan to triple the size of the Royal Canadian Navy’s submarine fleet.

Expect setbacks. Ottawa has struggled to maintain its existing undersea warfare capability, and does not spend much money on defence. Hugely expanding its submarine force could prove … difficult.

Does Joe Biden’s departure change things? Justin Trudeau has a plan, and he’s standing his ground

Justin Trudeau kept it simple with his statement on Joe Biden’s decision to bow out of the U.S. presidential race, calling him a “true friend” and thanking him for the many years they’ve worked together.

Canada’s prime minister has had much in common with the beleaguered U.S. president over the past month — mounting cries to step down and clear the field for someone in a better position to fight back against the threats to his continued power.

Lack of motive in Trump attack frustrates public, but fits a pattern

In the week since the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, details have emerged about sniper positions and Secret Service agents, witnesses and warnings.

But the answer to the biggest question remains elusive: Why?

So far, investigators say, they have found little evidence of an ideology driving the shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old nursing home aide who was killed at the scene. The information gleaned from his phone, family and friends doesn’t offer a motive, national security analysts say, and the absence of a quick explanation has left room for the rapid-fire spread of partisan and conspiratorial theories shaping how millions of Americans view the attack.

Bad traffic causing locals to consider leaving Toronto: survey

A new survey commissioned by the Toronto Region Board of Trade shows a majority of respondents have considered moving away from the city due to congestion.

The board says the survey provides data on a sentiment that’s popular throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA): congestion is getting out of hand. That’s why, according to an infrastructure expert and a cycling advocate, there needs to be a focus on giving people options outside of cars to move around the city.

The survey conducted by Ipsos heard from 1,000 people in Toronto, Hamilton, Durham, Halton, Peel and York between June 7 and 14.

They should do a survey on the diversity of driving habits motorists face in Shithole city.

Bear in mind Chairman Chow views personal transportation as evil and she will go out of her way to run the city into the ground by making driving as difficult as possible.
