Our New Ungracious Immigrants

Silicon Valley was energized by legal immigrants from all over the world who founded eBay, Google, Nvidia, SpaceX, Stripe, Sun Microsystems, Tesla, Yahoo, and a host of others.

The Greek American Elia Kazan’s 1963 film America, America is a fictional account based on the Herculean struggle of the director’s uncle to immigrate to the United States from an impoverished and hostile Turkish Anatolia.

The film summed up Americans’ traditional view of immigrants: They had risked everything for the chance to reach America, and once there, became hyperpatriotic in their gratitude for the magnanimity of their new hosts.

The ‘hero’ Florida mother labelled a terrorist by Cuban regime

There were times during her incarceration in Fidel Castro’s “punishment cells” that Maritza Lugo Fernández was so physically and mentally depleted, she thought she had died and gone to hell.

She has never forgotten the screams of fellow prisoners, the brutality of their persecutors, the bodies wrapped in blankets tossed lying in jail yards, the thousands locked away, tortured or killed for standing up against communism.

US military is not preparing for Cuba takeover, top general tells lawmakers

The US military is not rehearsing for an invasion of Cuba or actively preparing to militarily take over the island, the top general overseeing American forces in Latin America has told lawmakers.

But Gen Francis Donovan, head of US Southern Command, said the Pentagon stands ready to address any threats to the US embassy in Havana, defend its base at Guantánamo Bay and aid US government efforts to address any mass migration from the island, if needed.

Donovan’s remarks came during a Senate hearing focused on Donald Trump’s increasing use of the US military in Latin America, where his administration has reasserted the idea that the region falls into Washington’s zone of influence.

6 Squad Members, Including 2 Muslims, Lose in Illinois Dem Primaries

Everyone is trying to read the tea leaves for the midterms. Democrats have been hyping their wins in very specialized races. And the Left has been declaring that it’s going to finish devouring and digesting the Democrats.

On paper, it should be looking good. The public is dissatisfied. The Left’s program of socialism disguised as economic populism and antisemitism disguised as anti-Zionism should be selling. Except the Illinois wipeout suggests it’s not.

I hope it gains momentum.

Drones over base where Rubio, Hegseth live raise security concerns

Lockdowns at U.S. bases and a global security alert underscore concerns that Iranian retaliation could extend to officials on U.S. soil

U.S. officials detected unidentified drones above the Washington Army base where Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth live, according to three people briefed on the situation. Officials have not determined where they came from, two of the people said.

The military is monitoring potential threats more closely because of the heightened alert level as the United States and Israel strike Iran, according to a senior administration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive security matters. Multiple drones were spotted over Fort Lesley J. McNair on a single night in the last 10 days, the official said, prompting increased security measures and a meeting at the White House to discuss how to respond.

Cuba vows ‘unbreakable resistance’ to any takeover attempt

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel has responded to takeover threats from Donald Trump, saying that the US would face “unbreakable resistance” if it tried to seize the country.

His remarks come as Cuba struggles with a multitude of economic woes largely brought about by pressure from the US, which is trying to cut off the flow of foreign currency and oil to the Caribbean island.

In his comments on X, Diaz-Canel accused the US of threatening “almost daily” to overthrow his country’s constitutional order by force, using as its pretext a weakened economy that Washington itself had “attacked and sought to isolate for more than six decades.”

The Real Threat to North American Unity

Over the past year Canadians and Americans have begun to regard one another as adversaries. Trade disputes and political rhetoric have sharpened cross-border hostility, and polls suggest that trust between our peoples is eroding.

For a Canadian who looks back on a lifetime of fellowship with American relatives, friends, and colleagues, the present strife weighs heavily on the heart. All the more so because the actual disconnect is not between Canadians and Americans—it is ideological. For decades, we have been trapped in a conflict of left vs right, progressive vs conservative, globalist vs nationalist—and the discord runs through both nations alike.

Furious US troops erupt at CNN’s $20m steak and lobster claims as grim photos expose reality

Furious US troops have hit back at CNN’s claim that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth blew $20 million of taxpayer dollars on steak and lobster dinners.

Service members sent the Daily Mail exclusive photos of their dinner plates — petite lobster tails and grey ribeye served cafeteria-style on trays — in the months before military action in Iran.

The backlash comes after a heated on-air clash where CNN commentator Paul Begala suggested Hegseth was hoarding the luxury supplies for himself rather than feeding the troops working grueling late-night shifts.

A senior U.S. counterterrorism official resigned on Tuesday, March 17th to protest the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran and said the Islamic Republic posed no imminent threat to the United States.

“I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran,” Joseph Kent, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, said in his resignation letter to President Donald Trump.

Canada knew ‘from the beginning’ CAF wouldn’t help attack Iran, too close to Pride Season to risk casualties: minister

Too close to Pride Season to risk casualties.

Defence Minister David McGuinty said Tuesday that Canada’s decision not to join the U.S. and Israel’s military attacks on Iran was clear “from the beginning” of the war more than two weeks ago, while underscoring that position is not going to change.

During a press event in Brampton, Ont., highlighting Canada’s military aid to Ukraine, McGuinty was asked about the resignation Tuesday of U.S. National Counterterrorism Center director Joe Kent, who said he “cannot in good conscience” back the Trump administration’s war because “Iran posed no imminent threat” to the U.S.

America, Alone

Trump is frustrated with countries that have declined his call to “come and help us” reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He mocked them yesterday: “We would rather not get involved, sir,” Trump said, imitating what he says he hears from world leaders — even though, he points out, Europe, Japan and others depend on oil from the Persian Gulf far more than the United States does.

But Europe, in particular, has no great wish to be drawn into America’s conflict. It’s not those countries’ fault that Iran closed this vital maritime artery, driving up prices for cargo and oil worldwide.

I think it’s fine that NATO states and other “allies” refuse Trump’s request for aid. It is their right.

I also think it’s fine for Trump to exit NATO and let Europe handle Putin.

It will be a great victory for the Carneys, Starmers and Macrons!

Oh and good luck with your Muslims Europe!
