The US Air Force wants to replace its best fighter with an economy-class one

The US Air Force startled observers when, back in June, it publicly backed away from its most high-profile project – a potentially $60-billion effort to develop and build 200 new heavyweight, sixth-generation stealth fighters to replace its existing fleet of 180 F-22 Raptor fifth-gen stealth fighters.

The Raptor dates from the 2000s, but unlike the following F-35 it was built largely without regard for expense: it was the best fighter the US, with its unmatched expertise in stealth and other advanced technologies, could build. Russia and China have since produced their own fifth-gen designs, but they are not generally thought to be as capable. In the opinion of most analysts, the Raptor is the best fighter jet in the world. But it won’t last forever.

Justin Trudeau bends over backwards for America

There’s not much doubt what was on the minds of Justin Trudeau’s cabinet when members met in Halifax this week — at least when it comes to policy and not their party’s dismal standing in the polls.

You could tell by who they brought in to speak to them. There was Joe Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan and one of Donald Trump’s leading advisers on trade. There was Kirsten Hillman, Canada’s ambassador to Washington, along with two former Canadian ambassadors and others deeply involved in cross-border issues.

The Adept Mr. Vance

At the outset of J. D. Vance’s vice-presidential candidacy, it was practically mandatory for any story about his launch to include the word “rocky.”

Burdened by his cat-lady comments and deemed “weird” by every Democrat in America, Vance did indeed scuffle out of the gate.

CNN polling analyst Henry Enten called Vance the worst vice-presidential selection since George McGovern picked Thomas Eagleton in 1972.

Republicans Can Win Both Congress and the White House

When Robert F Kennedy Jr. suspended his own presidential campaign and threw his support behind Donald Trump, it sent shivers among the ranks of the Democratic presidential campaign. Prior polling had shown that Kennedy’s voters by varying degrees preferred Trump over Harris; his endorsement, Democrats feared, could be enough to tip the scale permanently in Trump’s favor.

The most recent polling data from RealClearPolling.com suggests that this is exactly what is happening. In polls published by Yahoo News on Tuesday, August 27th, Kamala Harris only ekes out a 1% lead over Trump. Previously, various polls have put her lead at 3-5%.

Alexander Vindman Represents Everything That’s Wrong With Our Officer Class

France just arrested Telegram CEO Pavel Durov for his alleged failure to sufficiently limit criminal activity on Telegram. What “criminal activity” translates to in European terms is anyone’s guess. In Britain, criminal activity is liking memes or posting dissident opinions on social media. The New York Times reported that the Telegram app had been on law enforcement radar partially due to its use by “far-right extremist groups” for communicating, recruiting, and organizing. That’s Clue Number One, the only clue anyone should need to understand. Durov’s only criminal activity was refusing to censor the free exchange of ideas.

Can Justin Trudeau’s Liberals seize on the U.S. Democrats’ success? Here’s where they should start

It was a bit of bad luck for Justin Trudeau’s Liberals, having to hold their annual cabinet retreat on the heels of the wildly successful Democratic convention in the U.S.

The comparisons and the questions were going to be inevitable — why can’t the Trudeau Liberals do that kind of progressive political revival here in Canada?

As minister after minister explained, no one is talking about showing Trudeau the exit door, as the Democrats did with Joe Biden.

A shocking video shows a crew of gun-wielding men storm through a Colorado apartment building reportedly overrun by a dangerous Venezuelan prison gang.

History Is Against a Kamala Harris Victory

Is it relevant that a sitting vice president has won the presidency only once in 188 years?

Many vice presidents have gone on to win the presidency, but only after they left office. Only George H.W. Bush in 1988 was able to win the presidency running as a vice president. Before Bush, the last sitting vice president to win the presidency was Martin Van Buren in 1836.

Mexico Abruptly Freezes Relations With US, Canada

Many of us have been alarmed at the deterioration of the United States’ foreign relations with our allies under the tenure of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Our relationship with Israel has been strained to near the breaking point and our European allies seem to be unsure of how much they can rely on us. Taiwan is constantly looking over its shoulder, wary of a sudden attack by mainland China and what we might do about it in response. Now we can add another country to the list and it’s one much closer to home.

Joe Oliver: The uncanny parallels between Trudeau and Harris

After receiving the backroom blessing of Democratic Party powerbrokers, Kamala Harris quickly closed the presidential polling gap — though without granting a single interview. “Unburdened by what has been,” to quote the new Democratic nominee, many voters enthusiastically support her candidacy simply because she is not Donald Trump. But what she stands for should be of intense interest, not only to American voters, but to America’s allies and rivals around the world. For Canadians, the many parallels between Harris and Justin Trudeau are uncanny.

Under Tim Walz, Minnesota Banned Christians From Teaching In Public Schools

Effective July 2025, teacher licensing rules passed last year in Minnesota under Democrat Gov. Tim Walz will ban practicing Christians, Jews, and Muslims from teaching in public schools. Walz is now the presidential running mate of current U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris. His resume includes a stint as a high school social studies teacher who sponsored a student queer sex club in 1999.

Starting next July, Minnesota agencies controlled by Walz appointees will require teacher license applicants to affirm transgenderism and race Marxism. Without a teaching license, individuals cannot work in Minnesota public schools, nor in the private schools that require such licenses.

Chinese government hackers penetrate U.S. internet providers to spy

Chinese government-backed hackers have penetrated deep into U.S. internet service providers in recent months to spy on their users, according to people familiar with the ongoing American response and private security researchers.

The unusually aggressive and sophisticated attacks include access to at least two major providers with millions of customers as well as to several smaller providers, people familiar with the separate campaigns said.

“It is business as usual now for China, but that is dramatically stepped up from where it used to be. It is an order of magnitude worse,” said Brandon Wales, who until earlier this month was executive director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, CISA.

Important New Poll Reveals Most Americans Know China Is Funding the Fentanyl Murder of More than 100,000 Americans Each Year

In a recent national poll, more than half of responding Americans believe that China is deliberately exporting fentanyl to the United States for the purpose of harming, or even destabilizing our nation.

Were that true, some might reasonably describe that strategy as an act of war.

For China, it would be historic payback time.

Having lost a generation, a nation, and an empire to opium introduced by Imperial Britain during the 1800s, no one knows better than the Chinese that a drug scourge can bring a country literally to its knees.

Robert F Kennedy Jr’s brother ‘heartbroken’ over Trump endorsement

Max Kennedy, the brother of Robert F Kennedy Jr, has implored the public to ignore his sibling’s decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential election and endorse Donald Trump’s campaign to return to the White House.

In an op-ed for the Los Angeles Times, Max Kennedy said “Trump was exactly the kind of arrogant, entitled bully” that his father, former US senator and attorney general Robert F Kennedy, stood against before he was assassinated in 1968 as he pursued the Democratic presidential nomination.

Max Kennedy predicted his father would have admired the Democratic nominee for November’s election, Vice-President Kamala Harris, because she was a former prosecutor as well.
