Ilhan Omar: Jewish students should be safe ‘whether they are pro-genocide or anti-genocide’

In response to a question regarding how the protests at Columbia University would influence antisemitism on campus at Columbia University, US Representative Ilhan Omar of Minnesota referred to Jewish students as “pro-genocide or anti-genocide.”

Omar’s remarks about Jewish students came while visiting Columbia University on Friday.

We must get US masses to care about Israel

… But most Americans are in the middle. They don’t care much about anything. They not only do not know where Gaza is, but they do not know what Hamas stands for, or what Hamas holds holy. If you told them, they would probably listen – just like they would listen to the detractors. And their takeaway would be that a keffiyeh makes a very attractive scarf.

When people stop caring, they stop caring about everything. “Right” and “wrong,” “evil” and “justice” become just words. Issues-based dialogue and decisions become less relevant, often even totally irrelevant.

Rx for America

We might start by returning to energy independence. The climate would not be hurt one bit: The US has plenty of oil under the ground; we can extract it more cleanly than anyone. Instead, we are paying exorbitant prices to, say, Russia for oil that is far dirtier, while the Chinese Communist Party are opening two new coal plants a week. The result, in terms of clean air, is therefore currently either net-zero or, thanks to “protecting” the planet from America’s clean oil, actually down.

Additionally, the US outlay for buying overpriced foreign oil and gas for immediate domestic use has simply served to finance both Russia’s war on Ukraine, and Iran and Hamas’s war on Israel. If the US were to start drilling, refining and exporting oil again, its price would go back down to $40 or $50 a barrel, nearly half its current $83 – and Russia and Iran, soon unable to afford their global aggression, would be forced to stop.

Israel rebukes US calls for investigation into mass graves in Gaza

Israel’s military says it already looked into reports of mass graves and found no wrongdoing by its forces, even as the Biden administration calls for an investigation into the matter.

Over the past few days, U.S. officials, including national security adviser Jake Sullivan, have called for Israel to “thoroughly and transparently” investigate reports of mass graves at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, which Israeli forces last raided in February. The State Department came under fire from advocates for refusing to call for an independent investigation, instead saying the U.S. will press Israel for information.

White House: There Are ‘Too Many Civilian Casualties‘ in Israel‘s War, ‘The Number Needs to Be Zero‘

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” White House National Security Communications Adviser John Kirby stated that Hamas doesn’t care about the Palestinian people and if they did, “they’d lay down their arms, they’d step aside, they’d release those hostages,” but they’ve refused hostage release offers. Kirby also stated that there have been too many civilians killed in Gaza and the number of civilian casualties “needs to be zero.”

If I didn’t know better I’d say there was an election pending.

Many Canadians have heard enough from Justin Trudeau, but for a few dumb Americans it’s a different story

Many Canadians have heard enough from Justin Trudeau, but Americans are a different story

Talking to Americans got a lot of laughs when comedian Rick Mercer was doing his TV shows two decades ago. For Justin Trudeau right now, talking to Americans is part of a serious communication strategy, aimed at putting the Canadian prime minister in front of wider audiences.

Trudeau has been doing a flurry of podcasts in recent days, two of them based in the United States: one for the Freakonomics series, another for the Vox news program, Today, Explained. One of my colleagues joked this week that this is the Liberal reply to Pierre Poilievre’s fondness for slogans: when the Conservative leader goes short and snappy, Trudeau goes long form.

Talking to Americans to win Canadian hearts and minds says even your bought media is tired of the charade.

War By Affirmative Action?

Why does Biden play Iranian poker with American and Israeli lives?

Answer? He envisions war sort of like affirmative action, in which the less accomplished belligerent is allowed all sorts of concessions for the sake of equity.

Israeli and American military capability, and particularly their missile defenses, are seen as unfair, almost like high achievers’ top SAT scores that are seen as unearned and used to privilege some over others and therefore must be countered or dropped.

Police evict Pro-Palestine protesters from Nancy Pelosi speech at Oxford Union

Police were forced to remove two pro-Palestine protesters from the Oxford Union on Thursday after they hijacked a speech by Nancy Pelosi, the former US speaker of the House.

The pair of students waved Palestinian flags as they disrupted her address at the debating society shortly after 6pm.

The protesters were swiftly removed by Thames Valley Police and escorted out as the crowd inside the chamber applauded.

A Majority Are for Mass Deportations

Axios is out with eye-popping results from a poll it ran, which show the overall popularity of the hard-line immigration proposals Donald Trump has floated in his campaign, including mass deportations of illegal aliens and the end of birthright citizenship.

What it found was that 51 percent of Americans (including 42 percent of Democrats) say they would support mass deportations of illegal aliens. Thirty percent of Democrats and 46 percent of Republicans would end birthright citizenship. The poll shows that Americans are concerned about illegal immigration primarily because of increased crime and drug trafficking, but not far behind are concerns about costs to taxpayers, and potential threats to national security.

Israel could be Biden’s Vietnam

Pundits and protestors are drawing parallels between Joe Biden and Lyndon B Johnson – another liberal presidency doomed by an ugly war. In so many ways, Gaza is not Vietnam. America has no boots on the ground; no draft if it did. Yet the analogy builds in three troubling steps.

One: Biden owns the Middle East conflict even as he denounces the casualties. Nicholas Kristof of the New York Times notes that in January, the Israelis dropped a US-made bomb from a US-made plane on a US-relief group in a war supported by the US. “How can that not come back to Biden?” Kristof concludes that the President, for all his anti-war instincts, remains a die-hard Zionist, reluctant even to cut ties with an alleged crook like Netanyahu (there is reportedly a photo of the President on the prime minister’s desk inscribed: “Bibi, I love you but I don’t agree with a damn thing you have to say.”)

America Isn’t The First Empire Doomed By Open Borders

No subject is as central to America’s future and no subject gets to the heart of the failure of our current regime more than immigration policy. As a result, few subjects are as riddled with taboos in their public discussion. What will happen when the ethnic composition of large parts of America is transformed in ways America’s European founders never could have foreseen? And in the interim, what will happen to whites as they continue to lose political power amid their shrinking proportion of the population, as anti-white rhetoric and actions accelerate?

Police arrest 108 at Emerson College as antiwar student protests spread

Confrontations between pro-Palestinian student protesters and police continued to spread at colleges across the country, with fresh arrests at Emerson College, the University of Southern California and the University of Texas at Austin, and reports of new encampments set up at Princeton University and Northwestern University.

In Boston, police moved to break up a protest led by Emerson College students outside the State Transportation Building, moving in on students who formed a human wall and raised umbrellas, according to video footage from the scene.
