Inside the Los Angeles highway houses

Caesar Duarte didn’t flinch as an Amazon truck barreled down the busy 110 Freeway in Los Angeles, missing his makeshift home by just a few feet.

The only thing that stood between Duarte’s outdoor kitchen and speeding vehicles was a three-foot retaining wall and metal fencing.

The 44-year-old mechanic and house painter said he has learned to deal with the danger and noise since he erected his homestead by the freeway about four years ago.

You’re Only as Free as Your Oppression

We are two years and spare change away from the American semiquincentennial which will celebrate 250 years since some brave men ratified the foundational document of our nation.

The Declaration of Independence’s bold assertion that the people were “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights” is all the more relevant in the age of relativism where fewer people believe in a ‘Creator’ or in unalienable rights. That radical document is why America remains the only place on the planet where freedom of speech is absolute.

Israel Under Attack – U.S. Administration Abandoning Its Ally?

Amid the relentless assaults from multiple adversaries — Iran’s regime, Qatar, Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis — Israel finds itself surrounded by Iran’s “ring of fire” on all fronts.

These coordinated attacks, originating from both neighboring states and non-state actors, pose, as clearly intended, a threat to Israel’s existence. In these dire circumstances, Israel looks to its longstanding ally, the United States, for crucial support and solidarity. However, the Biden administration’s approach has left Israel feeling isolated and abandoned at a time when it most needs unwavering backing.

The long-expected move effectively marks a new regional gain for Russia, which has ramped up its focus on Africa and backed military regimes in neighboring Mali and Burkina Faso.

As West Coast Cities Descend Into Squalor, Supreme Court Will Weigh Whether Homeless Tents Can Be Removed

Since 2018, a federal appeals court has prevented West Coast cities from arresting homeless people for camping on public land in the absence of available shelter beds — ruling that doing so is a violation of the Eighth Amendment’s cruel and unusual punishment clause.

My theory: The “homeless crisis” is a form of blockbusting but done on a city-wide scale, or in Canada’s case on a nation wide scale.

The US Navy finally has an unmanned fifth generation carrier jet. The Topguns should unleash it

US aerospace firm Boeing is still hoping to weaponise the new MQ-25 Stingray drone it’s building for the US Navy’s aircraft carriers. Sure, there’s a profit motive. But Boeing isn’t wrong. Adding missiles to the far-flying MQ-25 – the Navy’s first in service carrier-capable drone – is a really good idea.

Put simply, the MQ-25 is the only aircraft currently in development for the Navy’s carrier air wings that possesses the range to strike at Chinese forces without forcing the carrier itself to sail dangerously close to those same forces.

Biden’s Kill Switch: The Growing Threat of Government Control of Your Car

Soon the government might shut down your car.

President Joe Biden’s new infrastructure gives bureaucrats that power.

You probably didn’t hear about that because when media covered it, few mentioned the requirement that by 2026, every American car must “monitor” the driver, determine if he is impaired and, if so, “limit vehicle operation.”

Muslims Among Us – ‘Good People, Good Times’

In a remote corner on a relatively isolated WAWA parking lot not far from my Philly home, I spotted a platinum-haired guy about 25 years old kneeling face-to-the-ground on a prayer mat. This non-Middle Eastern, Caucasian prayer penitent could have been any one of the local Catholic boys you sometimes see playing street hockey. I had to look twice: what is his story? How had he converted to Islam – or had he? And what do his poor parents think about that?

Jon Voight: If Re-Elected, Trump Will ‘Overrule the Barbaric Animals Destroying Our Country‘

Hollywood legend Jon Voight is in no doubt former President Donald Trump must be returned to the White House in 2024 to “overrule the barbaric animals destroying our country.”

He made his declaration by bookending it with the observation Israel is also in grave danger and both countries must safeguard their futures through backing Trump because the alternatives do not bear thinking about.

Israel shelved Iran strike plans in exchange for US support of Rafah operation—report

The U.S. has agreed to back an Israeli operation in Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah in exchange for forgoing a major strike on Iran, according to Israeli media.

Biden reportedly told Netanyahu during a phone call on Saturday that Washington would not participate in nor support an Israeli retaliatory attack.

Boston Marathon bomber fighting to keep $4,000 prison canteen account

The man convicted and sentenced to death for carrying out the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 is fighting to keep federal prosecutors from seizing the funds he has accumulated in his prison canteen account.

The Boston Herald reported an attorney for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 30, filed an appeal seeking to stop the feds in Boston from taking the $4,200-plus in Tsarnaev’s account, arguing the death row inmate “is neither hoarding funds nor spending profligately.”
