2 men charged in deaths of migrant family on Canada-U.S. border

U.S. federal prosecutors have indicted two men in connection with the deaths of an Indian migrant family over two years ago in Manitoba, along the U.S.-Canada border.

Steve Shand of Deltona, Fla., was named Thursday in a superseding indictment filed in U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota against Harshkumar Ramanlal Patel, an Indian citizen residing in Florida, according to court documents.

The LGBTQ Conquest of America

The mind boggles, reels, and whirs at the speed with which the LGBTQ agenda has swept across America.

We saw it flex its muscles in the rapidity with which same-sex marriage became legalized. But Obergefell v. Hodges was only the start. Less than a decade since that historic ruling, society has flipped from where certain sexual behavior was stigmatized to where it is now celebrated and endorsed, even by the government.

Conrad Black: The dirty Canadian secrets I don’t tell Americans

For some weeks, I have been committing the moderate indignities that are of the lot of all authors selling newly launched books. Even though I do not attempt to live off the proceeds of the book sales, I’m obligated to the publishers to do my best to promote sales, and am, of course, happy to do so. It leads to interesting encounters with an extraordinary variety of people in an era in which I can speak from a specially wired and illuminated place in my home by Zoom or Skype or equivalent methods to people and groups almost anywhere. Because my current book (the first volume of my anticipated three-volume treatment of the modest subject of the political and strategic history of the world), insofar as it attracts any interest, could be appreciated by people who can read English anywhere, I have so far spoken to people and groups in most states in the United States and an appreciable number of British and Australian connections, and I’m really just getting underway in Canada.

Biden Administration’s Jitterbug with Iran’s Regime

In the intricate and often perilous world of international relations, every decision carries weight, consequences, and the potential to shape the course of events. At the heart of this delicate dance lies the Biden administration’s policy towards Iran — a policy that has been veering dangerously off-course, betraying not only the principles of national security but also the essence of American values.

The recent decision to shower Iran, the “leading state sponsor of global terrorism,” with yet another $10 billion in sanctions waivers, “freeing up $10 billion elsewhere to spend on terrorism, missiles, nuclear weapons and the repression of Iranian women,” defies logic and morality.

Migrant TikTok influencer probed by child services and admits he tried Canada first —but it didn’t give handouts

“How to have a free high-end phone”

The TikTok influencer who encouraged “fellow Venezuelans” to squat in American homes is being probed by child services after using his baby daughter in his guides to scamming and begging.

Moreno shot to infamy telling his 507,000 TikTok followers, “If a house is not inhabited, we can seize it.”

And on Friday he doubled down, repeating the same message, calling squatting “the American dream,” and defiantly boasting that he had the right to “free speech” in the US.

Someone should give this guy a reality show.

Scrap Biden’s Electric-Vehicle Rules

It is no business of the state to steer drivers from one automotive technology to another. But if the U.S. government should decide to do this, it should do so through Congress, not a regulatory agency. Where climate policy is involved, though, individual autonomy and popular consent have a way of being overridden. In April 2023, the EPA proposed a set of rules designed to ensure that, depending on which “compliance pathway” — a phrase redolent of a bureaucracy run amok — auto manufacturers took, electric vehicles (EVs) would account for as much as 67 percent of new light vehicle sales by 2032.

The Civilizational Masochism of the West

We are swiftly approaching the consequences of our suicidal blindness.

Last week, Joe Biden issued a schoolmarmish warning to Israel, which he has been browbeating for months to placate his party’s anti-Israel left and Muslim American voters in Michigan, a critical swing state. Speaking to the press, he threatened, “There’s got to be a ceasefire because Ramadan – if we get into circumstances where this continues to Ramadan, Israel and Jerusalem could be very, very dangerous.”

It’s time to stop accommodating the crazies in America

It should be apparent to all that normal, productive people no longer sit at America’s heart. Instead, our government bows to, and we taxpayers support, all of the fringes, whether economic or social. This is an unsustainable burden for any society, even one like America, which used to be robust enough to handle a deadbeat fringe. (That’s in addition to the “widows and orphans” that all moral societies assist.)

Biden’s New Electric Vehicle Policy Will Drive US Auto Workers Out of Job

Progressive climate regulations could cost Biden votes in Rust Belt states come November.

Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm’s four-day publicity tour for electric vehicles was always intended to draw attention — and it did, just not the kind she’d hoped for. Granholm and her caravan acted as ambassadors for President Joe Biden’s support for green energy and clean cars. But it’s hard to spend four days on the road without showcasing the downsides of electric vehicles.

Outside of Augusta, Georgia, Granholm and her team bumped up against a common limitation: too few EV chargers. Ahead of her arrival, Granholm’s advance team realized that they would have to wait in line. One charger was broken, leaving only three that worked.

Schumer Warns Israel to Spare Hamas or Face Sanctions

US Senator Chuck Schumer stood at the Senate podium and laid out his vision of the “four obstacles to peace”. These, according to the Senate Majority Leader were, Hamas, “right wing Israelis”, PLO terrorist leader Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Having equated Israeli conservatives with Hamas, Schumer demanded that Israel call a new election and remove its current government from power. And if Israelis did not choose to obey, he warned that the “United States will have no choice but to play a more active role in shaping Israeli policy by using our leverage to change the present course.”

That is an obvious euphemism for anything from the withdrawal of aid to economic sanctions.

The Melting Pot Myth Is Destroying America – Ilhan Omar is proof.

Nobody, to my knowledge, has ever accused Rep. Ilhan Omar of being a nationalist. But if her recently surfaced comments about Somalia are any indication, she is, in fact, an ardent one — just not for the nation of America.

A few months ago, controversy broke out surrounding comments Omar made during a speech about Somalia (delivered to a predominantly Somalian crowd in Minneapolis): “We are people of brotherhood, people of blood, people who know themselves to be Somalis, to be Muslims,” Omar thundered, according to the English-translation subtitles. “We are a gifted set of individuals with a patriotic spirit that acknowledges our homeland and strives to protect it.” In a shockingly candid admission, Omar openly bragged to the crowd about her ambition to serve the interests of a foreign nation while ostensibly representing American voters in the U.S. government: “The U.S. government will do what we tell the U.S. government to do,” she boasted. “That is the confidence we need to have as Somalis.… For as long as I am in Congress, no one will take over the seas belonging to the nation of Somalia and the United States will not support others who seek to steal from us.”

Supreme Court Allows Texas to Enforce Law Authorizing Local, State Police to Arrest Illegal Immigrants

The Supreme Court on Tuesday lifted its freeze of a Texas immigration law which allows state and local law enforcement to arrest illegal immigrants and empowers state judges to deport them.

The Court’s six conservative justices dismissed the Biden administration’s emergency appeal, allowing the law to remain in effect while the issue is adjudicated by lower courts. The majority did not explain its reasoning, as is typical, but Justice Amy Coney Barrett, joined by Justice Brett Kavanaugh, issued a concurring opinion explaining that Texas should be allowed to enforce its law until a lower court definitively strikes it down.

We Are Closer Than You Think to Civilizational Suicide: Lessons From Burnham

“Liberalism,” he wrote, “permits Western civilization to be reconciled to dissolution.”

Sixty years ago, James Burnham’s book Suicide of the West was published to much acclaim from conservatives and much criticism by liberals. It was Burnham’s last book (other than a collection of his National Review columns titled The War We Are In) and, perhaps, his most pessimistic and prophetic work. Western civilization led by the United States, he wrote, was dying, not because of external challenges but, rather, because of internal decay. The West, in other words, was in the process of committing civilizational suicide. And what caused liberals to ridicule and deride the book was Burnham’s conclusion that liberalism was the “ideology of Western suicide.”

When Culture War Affects Real War

It was a small thing, really, but one of those small things that feels like a sign of something much bigger.

This week, the military junta that rules the African country of Niger announced the revocation of its military agreement with the United States, and the coming expulsion of U.S. troops based in the country. The country’s leadership also announced its turn to Russia. The move followed a disastrous visit by American officials, who arrived to lecture the hard men who led last summer’s coup about the need to restore democracy, and to stop talking to Iran about providing it uranium.

This story will make Justin cry.

The Gaza War: The Real Problem

With Friends Like Chuck Schumer, Who Needs Enemies?

In a speech on March 14, 2024, US Senate Democratic Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said:

“The only real and sustainable solution to this decades-old [Arab-Israeli] conflict is a negotiated two-state solution — a demilitarized Palestinian state living side-by-side with Israel in equal measures of peace, security, prosperity, dignity and mutual recognition.”

Schumer and his friends in the Biden administration who continue to talk about a two-state solution are either naïve or ignorant of the sentiments among the Palestinians, most of whom support the Iran-backed Hamas terror group, which does not recognize Israel’s right to exit and does seek to replace it with an Islamic state.
