Alberta ‘excessively vulnerable’ to foreign interference, experts warn

Alberta is not ready to deal with the threat of online disinformation coming from foreign actors in a possible referendum campaign on separation this fall, according to national security experts.

“Alberta is excessively vulnerable to American interference,” Jean-Christophe Boucher, a professor of political science at the University of Calgary, told Radio-Canada.

Boucher, whose research focuses on foreign interference, is unequivocal: “If there were a referendum in Alberta, there would be no one within the Alberta government who could analyze and collect data to ensure that the conversation about the referendum is not being manipulated by foreign actors.”

Why even Iraq war hawks should oppose this war

When president George H.W. Bush went to war against Iraq in 1991, he sought and won the consent of the Congress of the United States. Resolutions authorizing military force passed the House, by a margin of 250 to 183, and the Senate, 52-47.

Mr. Bush had earlier secured the passage of United Nations Security Council Resolution 678. The cause was clear and compelling: to repel Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait. The coalition in support numbered 34 countries in all.

U.S. could hold a ‘red card’ over Canada’s Gripen fighter jet option

There is a way the U.S. could play hardball with Canada, if the Liberal government of Prime Minister Mark Carney decides it wants to limit its purchase of F-35s in favour of the Gripen.

Critics who favour the Lockheed-Martin stealth fighter have long argued that the Swedish-built Gripen would not be interoperable with American aircraft and the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD).

That’s not what you see at the NATO air policing mission in Iceland, where Danish-owned F-35s have been training and operating alongside Swedish JAS-39 Gripens-Cs.

CNN and MSNOW Still Haven’t Admitted Austin, TX Shooter Was a Muslim

On early Sunday morning in Austin, Texas, a gunman fired into crowds of pedestrians from his moving vehicle, wounding 14 people and ultimately killing three. The shooter, Ndiaga Diagne, a muslim immigrant from Senegal, was wearing a hoodie that read, “Property of Allah.”

Left-wing cable networks CNN and MSNOW have reported all of the above details at least once — all except the fact that Diagne was a muslim.

U.S. Opens Military Action in Ecuador Against ‘Terrorist Organizations’

The United States and Ecuador have launched joint military operations against “designated terrorist organizations” in the South American country, the Pentagon said on Tuesday night, in what appeared to be a major expansion of the U.S. military’s unilateral strikes against boats in the Caribbean Sea and Eastern Pacific that the Trump administration has accused of carrying drugs.

U.S. Special Forces soldiers are advising and supporting Ecuadorean commandos on raids across the country against suspected drug shipment facilities and other drug-related sites, according to a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss operational matters.

Inside Israel’s plan to kill Ayatollah Khamenei

A network of operatives infiltrated the dictator’s inner circle. After months of watching and listening, Mossad jammed his bodyguards’ phones and the jets struck

The meeting between Iran’s supreme leader and some 40 officials took place every Saturday morning at Ali Khamenei’s office and principal residence in Tehran. It gave Israel an hour-long window to close in for the kill before he returned to one of his two bunkers deep beneath the ground.

At about 6am on Saturday — a symbolic day and time as this was when Hamas launched its October 7 attack — Israel enacted a plan that was years in the making. It was made possible by a network of intelligence officials that built a near-omnipresent picture of where the 86-year-old was and who he was with at all times.

From rupture to rapture: The curious case of Carney’s endorsement of Trump’s war

“I just endorsed it a little”

In a move that surprised observers at home and abroad, Prime Minister Mark Carney issued this weekend an unqualified endorsement of U.S. President Donald Trump’s military attack on Iran. For a leader who has cultivated an image of sober, multilateral statesmanship, Carney’s decision to break with Europe—and with his own recently articulated foreign policy doctrine of middle power cooperation—begs the question of what exactly is Canada’s foreign policy almost one year into his premiership.

Paints a portrait of a very cynical Carney.

Thanks To Democrats, Potential Iranian Terrorists Are Already On American Soil

U.S. counterterrorism agencies are on high alert for potential retaliation after the American government joined Israel in launching a coordinated operation named Epic Fury against Iran over the weekend.

Already, at least two Americans have died and more than a dozen have been injured after a 53-year-old gunman, reportedly clothed in an Iranian flag T-shirt and “Property of Allah” sweatshirt, opened fire at an Austin bar one day after the strikes commenced. While it’s unclear if this alleged terrorism is linked to a larger revenge campaign led by Iran or a lone wolf sympathizer attack, the consensus is that there is a heightened threat of Islamic violence against Americans on their own soil.

Iran’s Long Arm: Sleeper Cells, Criminal Proxies, and the Asymmetric Threat Already Inside North America

Qasem Soleimani: US kills top Iranian general in Baghdad air strike

WASHINGTON / OTTAWA — Even as kinetic strikes against Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure have devastated the Islamic Republic’s conventional capabilities, a more shadowy threat remains intact and potentially primed for reactivation: a web of Iran-backed sleeper cells, proxy militias, and criminal mercenary networks already embedded inside North America — networks that have demonstrated the operational capacity to commit murder on American and Canadian soil.

“Starmer is No Churchill”: Trump Ramps Up Attack on PM

Donald Trump tonight launched an extraordinary attack on Sir Keir Starmer, saying: ‘This is not Winston Churchill we are dealing with.’

The US President delivered a withering verdict on the Prime Minister as he continued to fume at Sir Keir for failing to back US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

In comments that immediately plunged the so-called ‘special relationship’ into an unprecedented crisis, Mr Trump declared that he was ‘not happy’ with the PM and accused him of being ‘very, very uncooperative’.
