An Actual War on Drugs?

On using military force against Mexican cartels

Nearly every Republican presidential candidate is now calling for direct military action against Mexican-based drug traffickers.

For a long time, Americans have seen drugs as a law-enforcement, not a military, problem. And even with military problems such as terrorism, America’s general preference is to enlist the help of local governments, militias, or political factions to do the fighting. This has been our tack with the Mexican government for years now.

‘No Xmas as usual’: pro-Palestinian protesters demonstrate in US cities

Thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters waved the pan-Arab colors flag and wore the symbolic Palestinian keffiyeh in a series of coordinated “No Xmas as Usual in a Genocide” rallies and marches across the US on Saturday.

Organizers with Shut It Down for Palestine said the organization had focused its protests on the second-most popular shopping day of the year – the day before Christmas Eve – as part of ongoing civic and commercial disruptions. Organizers said they planned to “organize actions to boycott, disrupt and rally at commercial centers”.

Co-ordinators with Shut It Down for Palestine decried Israel’s assault on Gaza as one of “incredible cruelty”.

Get Out, We’re Closed

There was a time when I was in favor of some streamlining of the legal immigration process. It seemed wildly unfair that it could take years and years to immigrate by the rules, especially when the applicant is working within the law and will bring something of value to the country – it will add to America’s greatness. Now, screw it. To hell with everyone trying to move here. Unless you’re coming with a small fortune and something truly extraordinary that will be a serious boost to the country and Americans, stay out. And everyone here illegally, get the hell out, we’re closed.

Golf cart sales surge as US families find unlikely alternative to second cars

Golf carts are becoming the second car of choice for families across the US, with the market anticipated to surge to more than $2 billion (£1.57 billion) within the next few years.

In retirement villages, residential communities, university campuses and small towns, it is becoming commonplace to see people driving themselves around in golf carts.

They’ve become so popular that Babcock Ranch in Florida, America’s first completely solar-powered town, has even enshrined golf carts into its design: Some of the houses have a second smaller garage, designed to fit a golf cart.

Migrants at NYC’s Floyd Bennett Field are begging for money, food at furious locals’ doorsteps: ‘Invasion’

Migrants staying at the Big Apple’s controversial tent shelter at Floyd Bennett Field have started going door to door in nearby neighborhoods begging residents for cash, food and clothes, furious locals told The Post Friday.

David Fitzgerald, 62, said he has noticed an influx of asylum seeker families showing up on his doorstep in Brooklyn’s Marine Park neighborhood in recent weeks asking for spare change — sparking safety fears among some of his neighbors.

The Blue-State Population Exodus to Red States Continues Post-Covid

The Census Bureau has announced its year-end estimates of state population changes, which are dated as of July 1, 2023. They once again show the continuing trend of America’s population shifting out of its bluest states and into red states, mainly in the Sun Belt. While the trend is not entirely uniform, it is a powerful one cutting across regions. The shifts in the past year have been less dramatic than they were during the Covid pandemic, when the differing approaches to emergency governance among American states presented obvious distinctions in employment, education, worship, and entertainment.

If Rumors About Who’s Running the Show Are True, It’ll Be a Very Houthi Christmas

New Ballistic Missiles Displayed at the Houthi Military Parade

It’s taking no time at all for the Biden administration Red Sea plan to fall apart. In point of fact, it started to crumble almost as soon as our lumbering, blundering SecDef Lloyd Austin announced the inspirational program.

The new multi-national taskforce with the thrillingly inspirational name – “Prosperity Guardian” – was a call-to-arms of sorts for nations whose vessels transit the Red Sea/Suez Canal routes, and who were being threatened by repeated Houthi attacks, both drones and swift boat piracy, in what’s known as the Bab el-Mandeb (BAM) Strait. That’s the southern chokepoint where the Red Sea squeezes between Yemen and Djibouti as it makes a left turn before reopening into the Gulf of Aden, Arabian Sea, and the open waters of the Indian Ocean beyond.

Venezuela is essential for China’s ambitions

Beijing has pushed Latin America away from the United States in ways that the Soviet Union never could

Venezuela has become a headache for Washington. Just after the Biden administration engineered a rapprochement strategy, Nicolás Maduro did more than just double down on not following through his promises of democratization: he is now pushing to annex neighboring Guyana. These developments, though, should have been anticipated, as Venezuela becomes a crucial part of China’s geopolitical strategy.

Glynn Simmons: US judge exonerates inmate after 48 years in prison

An Oklahoma judge has exonerated a man who spent 48 years in prison for a murder he didn’t commit, the longest known wrongful sentence in the US.

Glynn Simmons, 70, was freed in July after a district court found that crucial evidence in his case was not turned over to his defence lawyers.

On Monday, a county district attorney said there was not enough evidence to warrant a new trial.

In an order on Tuesday, Judge Amy Palumbo declared Mr Simmons innocent.

Does Biden Want Israel to Lose the War?

US President Joe Biden has gone out of his way — and it is enormously appreciated! — to stand by America’s ally Israel, defending itself from being further attacked by Hamas and other Iranian proxy groups in the region. The Biden administration has sent warships to the region, materiel to counter the more than 9,500 rockets and missiles fired at Israel since October 7, aimed at the cities of a country roughly the size of New Jersey. It is bewildering that he has come under so much unjust criticism for supporting a country that is basically also fighting for the US and the Free World against a terrorist group, Hamas, that apparently sees nothing wrong with burning babies alive, beheading them, raping and torturing men, women and children and then murdering them.

Sadly however, by reportedly demanding that Israel reduce its efforts to confront the Iran-backed terrorist group by January 1, Biden, presumably to help his reelection campaign, is seriously undermining Israel’s efforts. Such a curtailment would make it as difficult as possible — and risky — for Israel to fight what is already an extremely complicated war in complex urban areas, where Hamas has deeply embedded its weapons within the civilian population.

I think Joe wants a little girl and some more tapioca.

Broadcast Journalists Watch in Horror As Texas Protects Its Border

Broadcast networks are still angry about a bill signed into law Tuesday by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, which empowers state and local law enforcement to arrest and deport illegal aliens.

This is the second round of whining we’ve seen in response to this law; the first bout came when the Texas legislature passed the bill several weeks ago. At that time, the common refrain from talking heads was that the bill necessarily would lead to “racial profiling” and “discrimination.”

Feds, local officials issue health alerts over communicable diseases tied to migrant crisis

Federal, state and city health departments have issued public health alerts about increases of communicable diseases as illegal border crossers arrive in their communities.

Earlier this year, the New York City Health Commissioner instructed New York health-care providers to undergo several precautions and tests in light of “an alarming trend” of diseases spreading among illegal foreign nationals in New York City who arrived from the southern border. Dr. Ashwin Vasan expressed alarm about those arriving who hadn’t been vaccinated for polio or chickenpox and were coming from countries with high rates of infectious tuberculosis.

Outgoing Norad commander says Canada, U.S. too slow to adapt to threats

OTTAWA – In a world of uncertainty, there is one critical mission the North American Aerospace Defence Command can count on every year: tracking Santa Claus.

On Sunday, millions of people will log onto the specialized website and social media channels that depict the jolly old elf’s magical journey as he and his reindeer visit children around the world.

More than 60 years after it began, the Santa tracker is a beloved holiday tradition and a powerful public-relations opportunity for the binational agency dedicated to defending North American airspace.

How realistic is another American civil war?

It’s a notion which 10 years ago would have been unthinkable: that America might be on the brink of a second civil war. Yet, as the 2024 election approaches, high-profile Republicans are discussing a “national divorce”, leading academics are examining the possibility, and Hollywood is cashing in. The trailer for Alex  Garland’s upcoming film Civil War has recently been released and it paints a truly dystopian picture, from the Lincoln Memorial shrouded in black smoke to the federal government conducting air strikes on its own citizens. But is it realistic? Were a second civil war to erupt in 2024, would it really play out in such a blockbuster fashion?

The Biden Administration, Palestinians and Inconvenient Truths

As US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan was in the Middle East last week trying to restrain Israel in its war against the Iran-backed Hamas terrorist group and to “revamp” the Palestinian Authority (PA), a public opinion poll again illustrated how the Biden administration continues to intentionally ignore the reality of the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The results of the poll also showed that, unlike the Biden administration, most Palestinians do not trust the PA and prefer Hamas’s terrorism to a peaceful settlement with Israel.

Sullivan was reportedly in the Middle East for two reasons: to pressure Israel to scale down its military operations against Hamas, and to discuss the possibility of having the Palestinian Authority govern the Gaza Strip the day after the current war ends.
