Canadians work almost as much as Americans, yet produce far less. Why?

… It is one of the great mysteries of the Canadian economy. Given our exceptionally close business ties with the U.S., including more than three decades of free trade, it’s surprising we haven’t closed the gap. Among the most likely explanations is that Canadian businesses invest less in research and development, new equipment and new technologies – all things that boost output per worker. The Canadian market is also less competitive than in the U.S. or the European Union. This puts less pressure on businesses to invest in raising output per worker.

But Canada has somewhat reduced the output gap with the U.S., and closed most of the gap with Western Europe. How? By working more.

America Overrun, America Transformed

Overrun: How Joe Biden Unleashed the Greatest Border Crisis in U.S. History, by Todd Bensman, Bombardier Books, 432 pages

By the end of four years in power, the Biden administration will almost surely have admitted over 10 million illegal immigrants. Todd Bensman’s Overrun: How Joe Biden Unleashed the Greatest Border Crisis in U.S. History is an essential book for understanding this migrant maelstrom. Reading his analysis of the unfolding border catastrophe can be wrenching, even infuriating, but conservatives need to grapple with a historic disaster, and the valuable material presented in this important book.

Overrun is a fire-bell ringing in the night. A White House that erases national borders, ignores federal laws, and refuses to expel illegal arrivals is on a mission to fundamentally change the country. While the country’s situation is dire, even desperate, Overrun also offers crucial policy fixes, most notably the need to “tear down and rebuild the American asylum system.”

Chicago residents slam ‘hypocrite’ lawmakers over plans to house 300 new migrants in hotels while city’s majority-black homeless population is left to suffer on streets

Chicago’s plan to turn a hotel in the Hyde Park district into a shelter for 300 migrants has angered locals, who pointed out at a contentious meeting on Wednesday that many local homeless people were left to sleep on the streets.

Chicago has seen 11,000 migrants arrive in the city since August 2022, the mayor’s deputy chief of staff Cristina Pacione-Zayas said at the end of June.

Many of them have been bussed from the U.S.-Mexico border by the governor of Texas, Greg Abbott.

Michael Taube: The most ridiculous travel advisory in Canadian history

Canadians are clearly becoming more frustrated with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. What makes it worse is that his ineffective policies and mediocre leadership have turned Canada into an embarrassment on the international stage.

Which brings us to the most ridiculous travel advisory in Canadian history.

Tucker Warns Of Trump Assassination, Hot War With Russia

Tucker Carlson says that if legal efforts to block Donald Trump from running for president again fails, the next steps could be assassination and a hot war with Russia to maintain power and unite the population.

“No one will say that but I don’t know how you can’t reach that conclusion. Do you know what I mean? They have decided, permanent Washington and both parties, have decided that there’s something about Trump that’s so threatening to them, they just can’t have it,” Carlson said on the Adam Carolla show.

A Scoop by Tehran Times, Disclosing Details of the Robert Malley Affair, Has Washington Abuzz as Congress Is Kept in the Dark

A mouthpiece of the Iranian regime, the Tehran Times, scored what could be a significant scoop by managing to snag a document related to the mystery surrounding the suspension of President Biden’s Iran point man, Robert Malley. Congress, meanwhile, has been kept in the dark on what happened.

The Tehran Times, which has on several recent occasions published exclusive details on the Malley affair, posted on Monday what it claims is an authentic Department of State document. The April 21 memo, yet to be officially authenticated, fleshes out some of the reasons the envoy was suspended and stripped of his security clearance.

12-year-old kicked out of class for ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ patch defeats school

The 12-year-old boy at the center of the controversy surrounding the Gadsden Flag can claim victory over the Colorado school that forced him to leave class after we wore the “Don’t Tread On Me” patch on his backpack.

The Gadsden flag has its roots in Benjamin Franklin’s Join, or Die cartoon, which features a snake and calls for colonial unity. It was introduced in 1775 as a flag for the Continental Navy.

Canada’s Fashionable Lie

The California man who shot and killed the owner of the Mag.Pi clothing store in Cedar Glen, Calif. , on August 18 did so after making “disparaging remarks” about the Pride flag that adorned the establishment. The suspect, who was later killed by police, is alleged to have attempted to take down Pride-related regalia outside the store and issued homophobic remarks ahead of the violence. The sequence of events suggests that anti-LGBT sentiment at least partly inspired this attack. The event made headlines across the United States, in part, because atrocities like these are so blessedly rare.

Smuggler with ties to ISIS helped Uzbek migrants enter US from Mexico, raising alarm bells across government

The FBI is investigating more than a dozen Uzbek nationals allowed into the US after they sought asylum at the southern border with Mexico earlier this year, a scramble set off when US intelligence officials found that the migrants traveled with the help of a smuggler with ties to ISIS, according to multiple US officials.

While the FBI says no specific ISIS plot has been identified, officials are still working to “identify and assess” all of the individuals who gained entry to the United States, according to a statement from National Security Council spokesman Adrienne Watson. And they are closely scrutinizing a number of the migrants as possible criminal threats, according to two US officials.

Biden is ‘old,’ Trump is ‘corrupt’: AP-NORC poll has ominous signs for both in possible 2024 rematch

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is “old” and “confused,” and former President Donald Trump is “corrupt” and “dishonest.” Those are among the top terms Americans use when they’re asked to describe the Democrat in the White House and the Republican best positioned to face him in next year’s election.

Biden is too old and far too corrupt. Next to him Trump is an angel.

Iran’s Religious Influence Spreading throughout the United States

The Iranian regime is advancing its ideology and increasing its influence in Shia mosques throughout the United States, while the Biden administration is sitting idly by, presumably still seeking to return to a disastrous nuclear deal, lift sanctions against Iran, and fund the regime to launch more terrorist attacks, further repress its own citizens, and pave the way for it legally to obtain an unlimited supply of nuclear weapons.

Pakistani doctor who sought to support Islamic State terror group sentenced in Minnesota to 18 years

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A Pakistani doctor and former Mayo Clinic research coordinator who sought to join the Islamic State terrorist group to fight in Syria and expressed interest in carrying out attacks on U.S. soil was sentenced Friday to 18 years in prison.

Muhammad Masood, 31, pleaded guilty a year ago to attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. Prosecutors said he attempted unsuccessfully to travel from the U.S. to Syria via Jordan in 2020, then agreed to fly from Minneapolis to Los Angeles to meet up with someone he thought would help him travel by cargo ship to IS territory.
