Will America share Rome’s fate?

Our empire’s over-extension could be its downfall

The similar destinies of the United States and Rome can at times seem eerie. The three Punic Wars fought between the middle of the third century BC and the middle of the second century BC, constituted the great world wars of ancient Mediterranean civilisation, and ended with Rome’s complete destruction of Carthage. More recently, the two world wars of the 20th century ended with the complete destruction and defeat of Germany and Japan, and with the United States in a position of global dominance. In both conflicts, an empire’s supremacy reached its peak at the moment of victory.

China’s Space Program: Designed to Defeat the United States

The US-China “Space Race” is but one dimension of the ongoing Cold War between the two superpowers. The national space programs of both countries are comprehensive in scope, running across the entire scientific spectrum. Both America and China are focused on scoring space spectaculars to influence the world as to which superpower will inherit the future. Each rival is seeking to be the first to land a human on Mars.

Far more significant than scoring space spectaculars, however, is the question of which nation will achieve military dominance in the domain of near-earth space. Chinese international media deceitfully stresses the peaceful, cooperative, and scientific nature of its national space program. However, the ambitious nature of China’s space program indicates that Beijing’s primary objective is to dominate near earth space.

A History of Hate

The New York Review of Books joins the chorus of America haters deliberately distorting American history and all those who work to actually understand it.

Igave up reading the New York Review of Books many years ago. I felt that I had served my time, having picked through countless issues of that house organ of arch, mandarin leftism in preparation for writing an essay on the magazine called “A Nostalgia for Molotovs,” an expanded version of which found its way into my book The Long March: How the Cultural Revolution of the 1960s Changed America

So it was a bit like old-home week when a friend called my attention to “History Bright and Dark,” a long review essay by Adam Hochschild of two categorically different accounts of America and its founding principles: the online “1776 curriculum” put together by Hillsdale College for grades K-12, and the six-part Hulu documentary series on the “The 1619 Project” narrated by its genius loci, the New York TimesNikole Hannah-Jones.

‘Highly Credible’ Source Reveals Scandal Bigger Than Biden Bribery: FBI Election Interference

The confidential human source (CHS) behind the detailed allegations that then-Vice President Joe Biden agreed to accept money from a foreign national to affect policy decisions was reportedly “highly credible” and used by the FBI in multiple criminal investigations dating back to the Obama administration. Friday’s exclusive by Fox News provides further insight into Sen. Chuck Grassley’s focus on the FBI — as opposed to the Biden family — as the primary scandal in play.

“We aren’t interested in whether or not the accusations against [then]-Vice President Biden are accurate,” Grassley said during an interview last week discussing FBI Director Christopher Wray’s refusal to comply with the congressional subpoena issued for the FD-1023 form. That form, dated June 30, 2020, included detailed information from a CHS to the FBI regarding an agreement by now-President Biden to deliver preferred foreign policy positions for a $5 million payment.

The High-Profile Americans Who Defected to Putin’s Russia

Tara Reade, the former political staffer who alleges President Joe Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993, announced she had moved to Russia where she “felt safe,” and is seeking Russian citizenship, during an interview with the state-run Sputnik International network on Wednesday.

In April 2020, Reade filed a complaint with the Washington Metropolitan Police Department, alleging Biden had penetrated her with his fingers without consent 30 years ago, after pushing her against a Senate corridor wall. Biden has denied the allegation “unequivocally,” adding: “It never, never happened.”

The Anti-Western Nuclear Club: North Korea, China, Russia and Iran Dangerously Target the West

The anti-Western nuclear club — North Korea, Russia and China, with Iran close to joining the club — have become emboldened and empowered as never before, thanks to the Biden administration’s feeble leadership.

ChinaNorth Korea and Russia are building up their nuclear weapons. China may have even surpassed the United States when it come to the number of nuclear warheads on Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs) that it currently possesses. On February 21, 2023, the U.S. Strategic Command informed Congress that China now has more ICBM launchers than the United States.

The Capitol Police allegedly declare The Star-Spangled Banner a ‘protest’ song

With permission from and sponsorship by several South Carolina congressmen, the Rushingbrook Children’s Choir, which is headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina, traveled to D.C. and assembled to perform The Star-Spangled Banner in the United States Capitol. Instead, the Capitol Police shut them down because (allegedly) they claim our national anthem is an illegal protest song. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) needs to bring these partisan pistol-carriers to heel.

Another Confederate monument bites the dust

Reconciliation statue at Arlington National Cemetery set to be destroyed

In the midst of the Black Lives Matter movement sparked in 2020 by the murder of George Floyd, Congress required the Department of Defense to create a commission to evaluate the ways the military continued to honor the Confederacy.

The duties of the “naming commission” were to assess the “cost of renaming or removing names, symbols, displays, monuments or paraphernalia that commemorate the Confederate States of America or any person who served voluntarily with the Confederate States of America.”

New Russian malware could bring down the US power grid

As if you didn’t have enough to worry about. Who will bring down America’s power grid first? Joe Biden or Vladimir Putin? Biden has a head start, to be sure. But some Russian hackers have reportedly cooked up some new malware designed specifically to target electrical grids and cause disruptions. The new threat was discovered by Mandiant, a cyber threat intelligence specialist firm. They believe that this new malware system “poses a plausible threat” to the operational technology behind various electrical grid assets. (Security Week)

Did the Voice of America Cave to Iran’s ‘Lobby’?

Voice of America (VOA), a U.S government-funded public broadcaster, has expunged a video from its website after the National Iranian American Council (NIAC) announced on April 21 that it had “initiated legal efforts” after VOA “falsely defamed” the group as “lobbyists for the Islamic Republic.”

VOA, which “reflects the views of the U.S. government,” told FWI that it is reviewing an episode involving NIAC that originally aired on April 6. The broadcast “was removed from circulation on April 11 for further editorial review, following VOA and industry best practices. The review is in progress. VOA will provide an update when the review is complete,” wrote a VOA spokesperson to FWI.
