A former Labour council leader who referred to grooming victims as “poor white trash in Rotherham” could remain a councillor for another year without a public vote.

Dennis Jones stepped down as leader of Peterborough city council, apologised and was suspended by the Labour Party after his comments were made public in September last year.

Mr Jones now sits as an independent councillor and was due to face re-election in May.

Lucy Connolly claims she is being threatened with a return to prison after probation officers sent her a warning letter about her social media posts in recent weeks.

The former childminder from Northampton was jailed for 31 months in October 2024 for stirring up racial hatred against asylum seekers after the Southport murders.

She was released from prison last August after serving 40 per cent of her sentence and has been serving the remainder on licence under the probation service’s supervision.

Stek Oost, located in the Watergraafsmeer district of Amsterdam, was sold to the Netherlands as the dream solution to the housing and refugee crisis.

A total of 125 students and 125 refugees would live alongside each other, and were even encouraged to ‘buddy up’ so the migrants would adapt to life in the Netherlands more quickly.

A former CBC human resources employee is suing the national broadcaster claiming he was forced to leave a work environment so toxic and discriminatory there was a designated “crying room” so employees could deal with office stress.

The lawsuit also alleges CBC management in its northern operations kept a secret “do not hire” list that disproportionately blacklisted marginalized, disabled and Indigenous people.
