Police Dismantle Organized Liquor Trafficking Operation

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS), in partnership with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) and with assistance from the Toronto Police Service (TPS) has dismantled a large-scale liquor trafficking operation responsible for distributing more than $1.3 million in stolen alcohol across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

In July 2025, the HRPS, in partnership with the LCBO Resource Protection Unit and the TPS 23 Division Retail Crime Unit, launched a joint investigation into an organized group believed to be purchasing and re-selling liquor stolen from LCBO locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

‘Quite mad and a little bit sad’: Meghan’s ‘insipid’ Netflix Christmas special is panned and compared to ‘white noise’ by critics

Meghan Markle’s Netflix Christmas special was savaged by critics today – some of whom gave the ‘quite mad and a little bit sad’ show zero or one star for its ‘numbing content’.

The Duchess of Sussex used the episode to share tips with celebrity friends on how to make crackers, as well as wrapping different types of gifts and decorating a tree.

But reviewers in The Times, the Guardian, the Daily Telegraph and Independent were left stunned by the 56-minute show – and not in a good way.

Feds gave Stellantis more than $220M before Brampton decision, records show

The federal government paid Stellantis more than $220 million to help upgrade its plants in Ontario before the automaker revealed plans to move some production to the U.S., recent records show.

It’s more than double the amount the federal government disclosed when asked in October about its Stellantis spending, after the multinational announced that it will scrap plans to build the Jeep Compass at its Brampton plant and assemble it in Belvidere, Ill., instead.

Paganism is top choice for Christians who convert to new faith

Paganism is the most popular spiritual destination for British Christians who convert to another faith, outstripping Buddhism, Islam and Judaism, a study has found.

Religious faith is “fragmenting” in the UK as more than one in ten people who abandon Christianity in Britain take up paganism, wicca or another form of “spiritualism”, according to the report.

While Christianity is still gaining new adherents, these arrivals are outnumbered by people quitting the faith, figures showed. This is leading Christianity to dwindle in Britain overall, casting doubt on recent reports suggesting that a revival may be under way.

Ontario isn’t auditing doctors for excessive claims, A-G finds

Ontario’s Auditor-General says the province isn’t auditing doctors whose billings raise obvious red flags, including 82 doctors who claimed to have worked 24 hours or more in a single day, a diagnostic radiologist who billed for an average of 461 patients a day, and an ophthalmologist who billed $6.7-million in one year, more than twice as much as the next highest biller in the specialty.

The same unnamed ophthalmologist has been investigated three times for allegedly charging patients out-of-pocket fees for services that should be free through the Ontario Health Insurance Plan. The first review found the doctor wrongly charged patients, a second cleared the ophthalmologist, and a third is ongoing.

I’m betting Doug will pour out another bottle of booze when he hears about this.
