Oktoberfest closed in Munich after fatal fire and bomb threat

Police in the German city of Munich say the venue where Oktoberfest is taking place has been temporarily closed because of possible links to an explosion and fire at a house rigged with explosives.

A badly injured man was found at a nearby lake and later died.

Mayor Dieter Reiter said the festival site would remain closed until at least 17:00 local time (15:00 GMT) on Wednesday because of an unspecified bomb threat.

Terence Corcoran: Can Avi Lewis radicalism save the NDP?

It was a pleasant evening in Toronto’s well-to-do downtown Annex neighbourhood last Wednesday as the usual mix of University of Toronto students, local residents and visitors strolled up and down Bloor Street to restaurants and other local amenities. Hegseth declares an end to ‘politically correct’ leadership in the US military

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has slammed “fat generals” and diversity initiatives that he says has led to decades of decay in the military.

Mr Hegseth made the comments at a rare gathering of commanders on Tuesday, local time.

“Foolish and reckless political leaders set the wrong compass heading and we lost our way,” Mr Hegseth said as he kicked off the event in Quantico, Virginia.

“We became the ‘Woke Department’. But not anymore.”

Blogger arrested for sharing anti-Hamas meme — and claims officer didn’t know about terror group’s crimes

A British blogger has been arrested at his home for sharing a meme saying “F–k Hamas.”

Pete North, 47, shared a video of police arriving at his home in Yorkshire late last Thursday and telling him he was being arrested because he “posted something on the internet” which someone from their hate crime team “didn’t appreciate.”

Even though his meme also said “f–k Palestine” and “f–k Islam,” the cops seemed most focused on him offending the terror group behind the Oct. 7 massacre in Israel, North told the Telegraph.
