A Walmart Heiress Breaks Ranks and Joins the Anti-Trump Movement

A billionaire Walmart heiress is publicly speaking out against President Trump, breaking with the rest of the wealthy family and risking backlash for the retail empire.

Christy Walton, the widow of one of the Walmart founder’s sons, took out a full-page ad in national newspapers, calling for people to “defend against aggression by dictators” and participate in demonstrations around the country this weekend, known as the “No Kings” protests. Walton took out a similar ad at the end of March.

The latest ad has thrust the Walton family, one of America’s richest, into a spotlight that it has largely tried to avoid. The ad has sparked cries for a boycott of Walmart on social media and grabbed the attention of Trump’s supporters and detractors.

As climate induced hell-fires rage across the country, Canada looks to build pipelines — in the name of national unity

The country is literally on fire. So we better get to work building more pipelines, thereby enabling us to pump even more oil out of the ground and have even bigger, hotter, wilder, more out-of-control fires.

This seems to be the main takeaway from the new détente reached between Ottawa and the provinces in the name of fighting the threat posed by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Nobody dares to spoil this sudden feel-good vibe by even hinting at how badly we’re failing on the climate front. Such talk has effectively been banished.

Soap, Sex, and Simulacra: Hollywood’s Latest Moment of Madness

The culture war was lost in a bathtub.

Sydney Sweeney is one of the biggest young stars in Hollywood today. Best known for roles in Euphoria and The White Lotus, she’s built a reputation as a bombshell and a decent actress. But she’s not content with acting. Now she’s a saleswoman too — though not the kind we’re used to.

Ms. Sweeney is busy selling her bathwater. No, I’m not joking (although I wish I were). It’s a real product. It’s market-tested, agency-approved, and infused into bars of soap, packaged as masculine self-care. This isn’t just some strange footnote in celebrity culture. It’s a headline. It’s a mirror. It’s a totem of a society so far removed from meaning that it now rinses itself in irony and calls it cleansing.

Karoline Leavitt Goes Beast Mode on Reporter Defending Violent Rioters

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt came out swinging Tuesday, delivering a sharp and unapologetic rebuke to a reporter who seemed more interested in political theater than the brutal reality unfolding on the streets of Los Angeles. During a tense back-and-forth in the briefing room, Leavitt swiftly dismantled the reporter’s attempt to reframe the ongoing anti-ICE riots as mostly “peaceful protests,” making it clear that the administration isn’t buying the media’s favorite narrative. While Los Angeles burns and law enforcement officers are under siege, the reporter seemed preoccupied with downplaying the violence.

In May, the DNC moved to void Hogg from his position following his announcement to spend millions to help unseat select Democrat members in the 2026 primaries. Results from a virtual vote, first obtained by Politico, showed Hogg had been removed and will be required to run again for his position next week.
